  • I would rather buy Atari arcade joystick for pc, it comes with lots of games and only cost 30 euros.

  • @jcrowley1985 on game room its mostly arcade games but if you have a pc you just use mame and emulators FOR FREE

  • 3-4 bucks per game? For that price, you can find original cartridges on ebay; which I feel is far superior to own a physical original copy then just a download.

  • Ya know, your online idea made me think, what if they made a tycoon game like this, a gameroom tycoon, but instead of having random NPCS rate your arcade, your friends and random people who visit it rate it, and add suggestions. Like their avatar has needs and stuff like a sim, but it'd also be based on the quality of your game selection, how everything looks and stuff... I think that needs to be tried at least once :D

  • Game room fuckin sucks.

  • Clusters Revenge anyone?

  • Dammit! That Daytona soundtrack! I thought I herd the last of that when I turned off the Saturn!!

  • This is why you use Emulators!!!!!!! the games are free!!!!!

  • @Turban84 They're also largely illegal, technically. This provides a way to get your hands on these games without resorting to visiting unscrupulous websites located in the bowels of the interwebz. Plus you get achievements, woo.

  • @phreakindee I use emulators like NEStopia and Stella. And this is illegal? Then, my question is, why is there such an abundance of roms out there?

  • @Turban84 The emulators aren't usually illegal, it's the game ROMs, ISOs and CHDs themselves. If you don't own the game, you technically shouldn't grab the downloaded copy.

The abundance of ROMs comes from the lack of response from companies taking serious legal action. Abandonware and other such terms don't exist, legally, yet many do it anyway.

  • @phreakindee thanks for clearing that up!!!

  • @phreakindee No offense to ya but love your videos, but there has never really been any legal action except against a select few uploaders and sites, with SOPA going around its the only true way to fight against it, and you get free stuff so win win.

  • @phreakindee Come to Canada, it aint illegal

  • Mame32. Nuff said.

  • DAYTONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA LET'S GO AWAY (LET'S GO AWAY) DAYTONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (OHHHHHHHHH)

  • @PunisherPlaythroughs well, that's just like, your opinion man.

  • Your opinions on this were absolutely spot on.

I was really excited when I heard Krome had been given this awesome opportunity (mainly out of patriotism, their games were mostly fairly average), but the lack of online 2Player for games from this era was really just a stupid mistake.

I wish this had done better and evolved into hosting some 90s arcade classics (Puzzle Bubble, Outrunners, and the inevitable Street Fighter 2 re-release), but I guess that's what XBLA is for...

  • Many of those games have fallen into public domain and are available as freeware.

  • nice arcade stick :)

  • lol, you pay for old games? do the original designers get any royalties?

    probably not.

  • Is this on PC? I cant find it on Amazon

  • @wesley12106 As mentioned in the video, it's a free download for XBLA and PC from Windows Live. You won't be finding it anywhere else.

  • Haha, excellent overview.

    "Daaayytooonaaaaaaaa!"

  • Pretty awesome vid. Everything you said I agree with. Especially the 3d menu and the having galaga and pacman games. It does have SO MUCH potential. I only wish they would realize this. Namco, sega, capcom, and a few from the 90s.

  • Don't they realize that the mid-80's - late 90's are when American arcades got real good? No MK or Street Fighter? No Area 51? No Daytona USA or Ridge Racer?

  • man if you really want an arcade experience, you should download 3D Arcade frontend.its free, its awesome and it comes wit a lot of emulators already installed

  • . I really hoppe that microsoft add that any arcade games that you buy, gets an arcade machine in game room, ...Marvel vs Capcom 2,

  • Ko"NOM"i

  • that is a collection... at the start my jaw dropped

  • Ok, please tell me why I should download this crap and pay for each of these very old games, when there are things called emulators? Fuck you in your dirty assholes microsoft!

  • @bean420man

Maybe because there is a satisfaction in owning the game?

  • also are there achievments here? ill sub to anyone who answers first

  • @nerad1994 There are achievements, and all the games cost money (240ms points). Both facts are mentioned in the video.

  • @nerad1994 yeeesss

  • @nerad1994 yes there is achievements

  • @nerad1994 im the first in 7 months dos that cownt

  • i downloaded this but i dont know if i should pay for the games. are there any free ones?

  • Yeah! MS did that in micro$oft's style!

    Shame for me

  • and the intellivision made me wanna barf out my ass

  • i think the arcade thing is a cool idea but kinda sucks i downloaded it right when it came out and got bored fast. they could have done soooooo much more. meh

  • i just love watching your reviews

  • I like the way they made it look like an arcade with the avatars and realistic sounds, but it still sounds like it needs some tweeking and wow...$200 dollars for the games. ouch! and they dont even have 66 games. good idea it ust dosent work.

  • Holy shit, this looks awesome! I'm currently downloading it!

  • I want to start collecting classic video games but I'm torn. I'm note sure to go with the releases or start collecting the old consoles. This games room looks really cool. I really like the fact that there acually linked to an account unlike my wii virtual console games. If my wii ever breaks I cant play the virtual console games I got even I get a new wii. I did but an NES with a new pin connector but only lasted a few months. Not a very assuring for the first classic system I ever bought.

  • @maxmydog25 You just were not lucky. Those classic consoles mostly last pretty long. If i was you, I would start with Atari 2600/7800s and Sega Genesises(?), those are pretty "stable" from what i know. I have those too, and they work great!

  • @hoques1432 It was not a console clone it was the real deal. The funny thing is it work fine until I put in my friends old copy of Final Fantasy after cleaning out. The not game would work all I got was a black screen with a with flashing title screen.

  • @maxmydog25 Go with these consoles & home computers to play the classics, modern consoles and PC's can't emulate the feeling of the REAL stuff! Most of these consoles still work great so, what are you waiting for? :D Believe me, there's nothing like having a REAL collection!

  • @maxmydog25 i collect NES and SNES games i have a bunch of extras if your interested!

  • Excellent review Phreak!

Looks like an interesting game. I wouldn't mind setup up my own Arcade but I don't want to be paying $200 for more item XD

I definitely miss the days hearing the Daytona theme song in the arcades. Total Nostalgia!

    Keep Rockin Phreak! \m/

  • That's a nice-lookin' compilation.

  • I think I'm gonna pass on this one. I have the Atari Anthology thing on my PS2, and I play that with my XArcade stick. Considering that the disc only cost me 10 bucks, and the Xbox version of the compilation works fine with the 360, I don't really see the point of the MSArcade.

  • @tombert256 I know exactly what you mean, I have that and many, many more compilations as well, plus all of the original game cartridges. The only thing this really adds are superficial achievements and a "virtual arcade" with the room ambiance effects and such. Nice idea, just not a must-have yet.

  • Have you played Pinball's Greatest Hits: The Williams collection? Since you said you were a pinball fan in your Epic Pinball review, I'm guessing you have.

Either way, that compilation does a great job capturing the ambience of an arcade. I wish other compilations would do the same, or at least have an option.

  • I played the Gottlieb Collection, haven't gotten to the Williams yet. But yes, those also came to mind as far as recreating an arcade atmosphere quite nicely

  • Yeah! Some new stuff! :D

    Cool review, as always dude.

    DA-Y-TOONAAAAAAH!!!

  • I'm already excited about what your next hardware review is going to be!

  • @VintageJunior Me too, I like Clint's hardware reviews, he's good at "explaining" stuff. His review of the C64 convinced me of buying one, and I don't regret it at all.

@phreakindee What happened to your Amiga 500? On your MobyGames page it's in the "used to have" list. Did it break or did you sell it?

  • @hoques1432 I sold my Amiga 500 and collection. At the time I needed the cash and wanted to focus more on MS-DOS stuff anyways. I am now actively looking for an Amiga 500/1200, preferably PAL format. Would love to review some Amiga stuff

  • @phreakindee I dunno if i'd work, but i *COULD* watch out for an amiga 500 or PAL C64 here in Germany since the Retrobörse ( something like a BIG retro fleamarket) is coming to my town the 8th of may. I further know someone who - I think - still has a spare PAL C64. DOesn't come with any wires though, but it should take the same juice as American machines. PM me if you're interested, i'd love to support you and your show.
