The african american day parade is September every year in harlem and is known as an infamous night. The parade in the morning generally goes without incident but the aftermath afterwards is generally bad. 2007 was bad and here in 2008 was also bad. Multiple shootings and a lot of gun collars. Sad and its every year because gang initiations are done on this night. This parade really needs to loose its license and end.

Actually I have been living in New York City for the past 4 years. New York is VASTLY different from Philadelphia. Some part of Brooklyn are rough, my cousin lives in Brownsville. But NYC does not compare to Philadelphia as far as gun violence and murder is concerned.

While I agree with you that Harlem is relatively safe compared to other neighborhoods around the country, there's something more going on here. Several people were shot that day and there were reports of folks shooting rounds into the air for kicks. There is a serious problem with gun violence and gun culture. Perhaps you're right that this technically is not a shoot out but I think it's fair to take liberty with the video title to convey the sense of the environment not shown in the video.

@TMoNeY187x There's a difference between reports of shootings, which sometimes can be a car, fireworks, etc. And actual shootings where someone has gotten hit. If you look it up, LA, Chicago and Philadelphia all have more people getting shot throughout the year than New York City does, even though New York City is much larger than those other cities. I've lived in both Philadelphia and NYC so I can easily feel the difference. In Philly you're more likely to get shot, in NY not so much.

I've lived in Brownsville which is one of the worst sections of NYC. 1200 reported shootings means someone called the police because they thought there was a shooting, which most of the time it's not. I didn't say there weren't any shootings in NYC, but the likelihood of you getting shot is twice as high in Philadelphia or in any other city than in NYC and that's fact.

I lived in Astoria Queens, Woodside and East Harlem and I STILL live in NYC. And I still see the reality that NYC is the safest, comfiest big city, shootings happen rarely and people getting shot is even more rare. You should be proud of your city. Philly is a different story though...

@TMoNeY187x also I do real estate in New York, it's my business to know the crime statistics throughout the city. The only sections I'd say even compared to Philly as far as shootouts is Brownsville. Bedstuy is not a bad these days. East Harlem and Harlem has sporadic shootings but nothing that bad. Lower East Side is not shady like it used to be. Some parts of the Bronx are bad at night, but besides that dudes carry knives more than guns in NYC.
