I say black because black refers to all African people born in the motherland and the diaspora. I was born in America of course, but I am the son of an African immigrant as well so I am African American or black. I say black because it is short and to the point. Just like an Asian American can come here and still be Asian. Or someone from Mexican can come here and be Hispanic black people can still be African American.
It's very sad that a lot of young blacks think in this backwards fashion. When I grew up in the ghetto in the seventies, blacks didn't think like that. We aspired to be somebody. If you said you wanted to be a thug you were an outsider. A fool.
Heh excellent topic. Here in Toronto (yeah there are plently of black people here too,) I get the same sort of treatment from the thugish and would-be thugs calling be a sellout. Whats really sad is many of them several years down the road, are STILL thugs (and even still would-be ones) when they could have done better with their lives as they get older..then hate on others more that try to rise above and have done better for themselves. sad yet so true
