Soon, science will allow us to upgrade ourselves for longevity and what breatharians can't even imagine, when hopefully the politicians stop burning money on religion.
For all the fools in the comment section complaining that he hasn't given sufficient evidence try actually watching the video, where he makes it explicitly clear that he hasn't been given the opportunity to test him, himself. As soon as one of these non-eaters comes to the JREF for testing he'd test them. Now as far as making a judgment call without evidence, the burden of proof isn't on Randi, it's on the claimant. Until then based on rational president his skepticism is merited.
@imjoebrady that is the mainstream idea and pre-conditioning. It is not a essential. try to what Michael persinger has to do say about( neuroscientist).Michael's experimental findings even debunked James randis all claims. He had nobel prize and James is not capable to come closer. In one word, Learn Neuroscience and then speak.. Otherwise, remain sceptic! How many of you had personal experience with this topic than this video? Have you ever participated in any research regarding this? pfft
@shobyms Very well! I mean... you COULD have phrased that a bit better. Please don't solely use rewards to denote credibility. I will gladly study neuroscience and get back to you, and I hope you do too (because I've got a reasonable predisposition that you haven't). We'll pick this up later. Bye for now!
Has James seen this guy? or just conjecturally or "youtubally" refuted? I can refute NASA just by sitting online.. go and move your arse and search for yourself.find the truth do not trust anyone. CRITICAL ANALYSIS IS A MUST! NO ONE SIDED LISTENING!
Finally, where did he prove or debunk this guy do not eat? The original claim of Indian is no food and water. To attack that point James expediently used his trick and generalised it. James only said here " he might have drunk the water but no evidence James showed here that he Drunk the water. Forget it.. but how can James prove this guy did not eat anything by "he may have drunk the water" ? pathetic! james is such a loser who could not prove anything.I am also aware of charlatans in any field
@shobyms Okay. Everyone. A man says he can survive without food or water. It is not the burden of the people to prove that he cannot do this. It is his burden to prove, without a doubt, that he can survive without subsistence.
James randi is good at picking weak thread and avoid the strong parts.. pathetic.. I know there are many charlatans in metaphysics arena but not everyone is as James alleges. James is actually cheating people by his magic tricks as he did it in the past. James even called the team as "deluded and influenced" .. poor james..that is his last weapon and nothing he can do. James randi is not the last word and he is not 100% perfect. James Randi's work lacks experts and scientists.
James Randi proved nothing here. again the same tricks what he did it in the past. James is not a scientist or an expert but a failed magician.James did not explain anything but expediently made a posit " it is not possible". Why not James send and group and test him? instead of call them to his foundation premise? So if they do the same test again without have a shower or any water presence, could James agree with it? why James did not comment about his diet or no-food method?
@shobyms mpbody can survive without water and food. There is not a lot of proof necessary - common sense should tell you that. People who don't eat or drink just die.
@AlexLeSmu : that is your claim. you need to prove it. otherwise, just do not talk about it.people who do not eat will die because of their conditioning. they believe in it. you need to understand "neuroscience" and how brain works out. What can James Randi show us about Neuroscience? IS he that educated to explain physiology in relation with neuroscience? huh
@shobyms Damn, better tell that to the people in Africa or Asia suffering under famines and horrible food prices. "It's all in your heads! It's your fault you starve to death!.
@shobyms What does nutrition have to do with neuroscience?? The body cannot survive unless it receives energy in form of fluids and/or food. If you don't drink you die of kidney failure. You should maybe read a book on biology if you don't believe me.
That Indian guy was just another hoax and simple minded people fell for it, that's all there is to it.
@AlexLeSmu yes a lot. your nutrition requirement is a conditioned process. In order to have a conditioned brain and subsequent course of action, you need to have your enzymes and hormones ready. In other words, one must have digestive related enzymes ready before and after each intake.Ex; HCL and insulin (basic). The amount you prefer to eat is a part of conditioning. Please do not teach me basic biology when I am already a graduate in related field/s( medical and psychology).
@shobyms Do you have any personal experience to start up with? or do you just have these sceptic's books and videos? Why do not you take it up to a personal level and then find more about it? are you that simpleton to believe everything but you ready to accept anything that favours your position? Can we start judging it (deductive)critically instead of "one-sided" judgement ( inductive). James randi's refutes are not peer reviewed first of all! period.
@shobyms Everybody needs to eat - I have no idea where you supposedly have earned a degree in a medical field, but every living organism has to process nutrition if they want to live. Humans cannot survive without water and food, that's a simple fact.
Eating is not a conditioned process, it's a natural process. Even insects eat and they do not even have an actual brain but only a rudimentary nerve system.
You constantly mix up things - get the money for your degree back!
@AlexLeSmu : oh So the medical experts who does not believe the mainstream agenda, then he must be a fraud or get money back from the Uni? It is like saying "I am intelligent because I speak in English". I do not think that you studied well about bio-energy level and relation with diet. Eating is a conditioned process not a normal process, though it became habitual after a period of time.Lets have a look at a new born baby, who asked the food first? baby ? no way. we fed him/her.
@AlexLeSmu where did you get these all from anyway? where did I constantly mix up things? where is the incongruity? Just telling or claiming anything is very easy but explain and convince. "the food what you eat will normally be eliminated as faeces or urine" and the rest will be stored as fatty acids or carbo or proteins. However, these proteins never makes anyone to sustain.Take a look at Jericho sunfire on youtube or go and see him.
@AlexLeSmu PPl died without food because they are conditioned to eat. their conditioning is "if you dont eat, then you will die".It is a mind over matter issue. The same we perform in Hypnosis. I am not wasting my time. I think you need to learn various subjects in related to this ( such as nutrition, digestion process from salivary amylase to bile or more.. ,neuroscience and psychology+ hypnotic or neuro linguistic programming). Then after you may likely to understand a bit.Until then keep yours
I am an indian and was a hindu .. then someone told me .. hindus drink cow pee.. i was like what... hell with that crap ... then i asked god :-/ .. hey dumbass... why you make the indian drink the cow pee.. ofcourse dumbass didn't answer .. and i felt quite stupid .. for asking nonexisetent dumbass in the first place... Then i found the solution to all problems in life.. VODka .. thanks my russian friends.. i drank a glass of vodka.. went to a party.. got hammered.. picked a girl .. The end.. :)
Basically, that's a metaphysical assumption rather than a scientifical claim. Another example, you cannot prove the unexistence of God empirically because that's simply not a possibility at the moment - which doesn't mean GOD survives the tests as well.
How fallacious. The first fact you've came up with, is clearly an abusive generalization you can't corroborate due to the implication of testing what there's not to verify. Science presuposes life to require a regular basis diet based on verification, but it can't offer a certainity regarding a universal dominion of life.
Example: science said all life dies due to an aging process. False; we know now that Turritopsis nutricula does not endure the aging process and hence is virtually immortal.
I just love this guy! Seriously! Everyone who wants to talk about this "diet" with me I send this video and they feel like idiots :D ... James Randi, it would be such an honor meeting you. <3
They only observed this man for a few weeks. PEople have been fasting for weeks for years. It's not that impressive. I think that he had a little water from time to time during those weeks but going 3 weeks without food is not difficult with proper preparations.
As right as I know James Randi to be, and as big a scam as this breathe-arian is, I actually had hoped he WOULD have uncovered DIRECT EVIDENCE that one of these people who are supposedly monitoring this "breathe-arian" saw the breathe-arian drink water and eat.
That would have made his argument much stronger: arguing from direct "experimental observation" rather than from the assumption of Conservation of Energy.
Well, he didn't eat food for only 14 days, and any human can sustain that; as for water -- he took periodical bathing, and it's well known that water is always absorbed by the skin-- add it to the fact that people are 70%-90% water and they can live without drinking for around 3 days -- and voila, 14 days without directly drinking water, but actually bathing.
I woukd belueve them if he was observed for something like, say, a month.
@alexgrinkov I tested myself 2 separate semesters at college: went an entire week without eating.
Did drink though.
= water is always absorbed by the skin= Come on. Skin is an excellent barrier AGAINST water. That's why it's skin! Some insignificant amt would be absorbed. NOTHING that could substitute for DRINKING.
So, this guy/guru HAD to be given drinks after 3 days.
well there was recently a story about a guy who was trapped in a cave for 35 days, not much water and food there, not to mention light, and he survived without major issues
That's one way to fight stupidity, but from my experience it's better to follow their line of thinking and then teach them to ask better questions. Heck, leading scientists used to think that plants eat soil, that mercury could be turned into gold by adding copper, and that a fourth "spiritual" element - ether - permeated everything. Magicians, conjurers, and other sorts of con-men were once accepted. Then we asked them better questions, observed more carefully, and made them to look silly.
Actually Penn State was also there for the experiment. You cynical and sarcastic state comes from your ego, which I guess replaced your hair. Seriously though, open your mind, and let the ego drop.
let me tell u Randi or phandi or what ever your why your think your the only intelligent men on earth he was put on observation for 20 days u telling us he could have drunk water during bath then why did not he urinated ? doctors were observing activities of his every organ
Mr. Randi, I have the utmost respect for you and wish it were possible for you to live forever to continue your work (which you seem to do as tirelessly as anyone I have ever seen)... but dang! trim those eyebrows!!!
Energy in energy out, if he's not eating his heart would stop beating, and cells can't get the raw materials they need to function from air and sun alone, not even plants can live without roots to pull nutrients from the ground.
all things equal-randi has just entered the same realm of conjecture as this indian fellow and his followers. i agree-probably bogus, but why release a video before you've gone to india?
@onwardstarfire :3 For the same reason he'd dismiss claims that I had a wish granting leprechaun in my shoe without flying all the way out to Kentucky to see it.
James !!! There is alot of human potential that goes beyond modern scient. Dont be a pussy by sitting in front of camera and talh shit go to india to proof it . Please dont be a chicken.
I am a survivor of a Johrei cult. The Church of World Messianity practices Johrei. I won't go into detail describing what Johrei is, but I can tell you what it did: My mother believed in these people and when I went to the dentist, I was not given novocain. I screamed in agony when my teeth were drilled to the nerve. The dentist said: "I'm sorry, but I can't give you medication for pain. Your mother's religion forbids me from giving you any medication."
bitter old prick.. fox news junkies make me want to die. "Go ahead and die then" you may say... I say to you, "perhaps I will.. and so too will you.. and so too with that poisonous medium" and then I'll feel like an asshole for saying so.. so be it. This guy is a bitter old prick nonetheless.
you suck buddy. The vedas, chakra and quantum communication exist. Although they are still in their infancy. You need to open your heart before you die old man, because your conscience is probably full of materialistic crap.
Most Indians have no idea of what science is about. Anything but science fascinates them and I am sick and tired of explaining scientific facts to them.
Prahlad Jani found a doctor, Sudhir Shah, to test him & validate his claims. Sanal Edamaruku - Indian Rationalist Association called Jani a "village fraud" for not allowing any skeptics to be involved in thesurveillance and testing of Jani. According to Edamaruku:
Dr. Shah has done 3 similar investigations over the past ten years, and he has never allowed independent verification. In 2000, he was asking for funds to investigate a man he claimed got his energy from the sun, just like plants do.
I'm a Hindu and I think breatharianism is delusional. I can appreciate someone who moderately fasts for spiritual purposes, but there is no doubt that organisms consume nature and then eventually become consumed by nature. That is just how our universe works. It's shameful that the Indian government would entertain such obvious nonsense. This proves yet again how small government is the best government.
They are other people also who demonstrated living without food. Check for Hira Ratan Manek ( HRM), Giri Bala.
Let us clean the cup of our perception to think anew of the possibilities in reality. Let us not make no judgement based on what we know because there are more things that we dont know compared to what we know
Is this the scientific analysis of Mr. Randi? He has some perceptions on reality and he simply ridicules others findings. Does he thinks medical doctors and others involved in conducting these tests are fools? and only he has the intelligence to conduct right kind of tests?. This video clearly tells us who and What Mr Randi is
@Anoop20111 to put it simply: Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence. There is no reason to believe that people can survive without water, so why should someone believe it just because of an alleged study which wasn't peer reviewed?
People can survive without eating, they'll just burn fat. It breaks the laws of thermodynamics — rigorously proven explanation— for a person to not lose weight after not eating for a long time.
A claim it can be broken should be treated appropriately.
@MsHojat Investigate on the person called Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) and check what he has to tell about it.
He did not had any food except for water for many years. He had undergone various experiments to demonstrate this. He conducts lectures on this. Hope this would be helpful for you
@Anoop20111 I had already looked that guy up on two separate occasions a while back. The sources are not accurate for all the tests, such as university of Pennsylvania which was a brain scan, not a fast (so an outright lie).
Another fasting test which I have not looked into more depth, said he lost 41Kg while on the fast. Like I said, that's not breaking the laws of thermodynamics when you burn hundreds of grams of fat per day doing nothing.
@Anoop20111 Well, the indian neurologist is clearly a fool, I mean feed from just sunlight? I'm not sure about you, but I don't think we can do photosynthesis, well not exactly how plants do it anyway.
@Epsio0 You don't know or cannot comprehend something does not change the reality. I would recommend you to explore more on the people who have demonstrated this rather than making judgments based on your current understanding. Your deep desire to know things and being open to new possibilities will only lead you to answers. bBeing judgmental also brings you instant answer that there is nothing to learn. Its all your choice
@Anoop20111 I will accept the fact that maybe the man just has a good endurance, but saying the he feeds off energy from sunlight is just absurd, well at least with the lack of evidence - currently, I don't think humans have enzymes to break down sunlight and store it as food o.O And the only thing that I'm probably gonna get from these "experts" are probably just annecdotes, not really evidence. But, whatever tickles your fancy I suppose.
@Epsio0 Please Investigate in internet on the person called Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) and check what he has to tell about it
He did not had any food except for water for many years. He had undergone various experiments from NASA and medical doctors to demonstrate this. He conducts lectures on this. Hope this would be helpful for you to know about it from one good source. All the best
Sunlight doesn't contain nor produce vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced in the skin itself, through chemical reaction of dehydrocholesterol, which is already contained in the skin, with ultraviolet. To have dehydrocholesterol produced by the body in the first place, you need to eat food and water. Tehrefore, you can't have vitamin D without eating food, on sunlight alone.
Apparently you're the retard. It is synthesized by your skin. YOUR skin using the sunlight synthesizes vitamin D into a usable form. Wow you're suppose to learn this in elementary school. Fucking google toolbag
Are you insane? You said "Sunlight does contain vitamin d." I said: "no, it is produced by the skin, sunlight doesn't contain it, retard." Now you're basically repeating my words "It is synthesized by your skin, retard".
Needle dick, the whole point of the fucking argument was that sunlight provides a source of vitamin D. WITHOUT FUCKING SUNLIGHT the skin could not generate vitmain D. So you can produce vitamin D via sunlight. Fucking retard.
AHHHHH I see what you typed! lol no wonder we were having this argument. I swear man, your secondary post explaining the whole dehyrocholesterol never showed up. Absolutely agree with you. But somehow this man was obtaining an energy source in some other way. Maybe theres more ways than dehydrocholesterol in obtaining that vitamin d? I dont know but obvioulsy the man was doing something.
Vitamin D is a hydrocarbon, meaning it is made up of a combination of the elements hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. The chemical structure of the varieties of vitamin D differ, but all forms are composed of only these three elements.
And so? Ultraviolet doesn't contain hydrogen, carbon or oxygen. it's an electromagnetic radiation.
Vitamin D is created only in the skin from chemical reaction of ultraviolet with dehydrocholesterol (your beloved hydrogen, carbon and oxygen) which is produced by the body in the skin, from food and water.
@pacmantakespills If he is not right, it is upto those who makes claim against common knowledge and facts to demonstrate the validity of their claims by actually controlled testing circumstances.
You cannot prove a negative.
Shifting the burden of proof is the first sign that something is a hoax
Dear Randi! Please take the hardship, and go to India or Nepal. Visit the doctors, who have seen cases of extraordinary yogic phenomenons, and speek after that. You obviously have preconceptions!
The so called controlled experiment to measure it was not controlled at all.
If you watch other videos with James Randi or perhaps some with Derren Brown, you wil begin to understand just how easy it is to dupe someone outside of controlled experiements, as rinnhart said, emphasis on controlled
There was 100 people on the team monitoring this guy. And this James fellow thinks that through some secondary sources he has a better idea of whats going on just because he is not willing to look beyond his science textbooks. You think there is a giant conspiracy in India to make this guy seem like something hes not? If one person on the team knew he actually did drink or ate something, they would sell that info to that news quicktime. Become more open minded James, read some philosophy.
Lol... being an Indian i can totally attest to the fact that we have a majority of religious fools with adolescent minds gleefully ready to proclaim ANYTHING as a 'miracle' and proof of 'God'. Just a little fact though - the Indian government doesn't really spend 'enormous amounts of money' on whacked out nut jobs like this man, they are simply subjected to flawed testing (mostly by local means, not very pro.) - which is good enough to gain a mass audience of illiterate fools. continued...
@slaughtered777 This is actually NOT that ridiculous compared to other instances of idiocy. For example, a child born with a birth defect of the weirdest kind was heralded as a 'Goddess'. Why? She was born with 2 FACES on her head (which is quite fucked up), was born in an illiterate village, and they simply could not make sense of it. What you said about the media giving it importance is absolutely correct. If not for them, not many people would have known of this garbage. Sigh...
MR. RANDI..LET ME TELL YOU IF U DON'T BELIEVE SUCH THINGS THEN U DON'T HAVE EVEN TH RIGHT TO COMMENT ON IT.....THE INDIAN YOGA IS ONE OF THE MOST COMPLEX PROCEDURES WHICH U PEOPLE FROMTHE WEST WOULD NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE...INDIA IS FULL OF MISTRIES AND LET ME TELL U AYURVEDA AND YOGA ARE FAR MOR ADVANCED THAN UR MADICAL TECHNOLOGIES.....
The chemistry essential to the continuation of a human being's life is fairly well understood. Even assuming absolute minimal physical activity, you die without intaking at least water over the course of a couple weeks.
No exceptions.
Wait, you say there is an exception? Then the burden is on you, the individual making the flatly absurd claim, to generate proof in a controlled experiment. Emphasis on controlled.
actually if he isn't eating or drinking then he doesn't have a need to piss, sweat, or have bowels.
if he doesn't piss, sweat, crap, or spit he isn't losing his bodies water thus cannot die of dehydration.
Also, as someone with experience in wrestling and fitness modeling, I know one can retain pounds of water via skin in just one shower. This man had daily baths according to this study, it is shortminded of you to think the only way one can intake water is down the throat
I never said we dont need water, I said if he isnt LOSING his bodies water he cant die of dehydration. Sweat, urine, and bowels are the three ways in which humans lose water, each of which Prahlad Jani ceased. I also mentioned that drinking water is NOT the only way in which the body can obtain whatever water it has lost. From a nutritional standpoint, Prahlad Jani is no miracle. Dehydration is LOSS of water, starvation is LOSS of nutrients, and Mr. Jani isnt losing either
@CerebralPrince10 incorrect sir, you lose water when you breath, your body produces oils and water-based liquids all the time for various things. Your body (and this guru or whatever as well) produces mucous, oil for your hair and skin, and even if you don't eat anything for weeks, guess what, you will still have bowel movements due to the collection of bacteria in your intestines, and yes, you will lose water because of that too.
Do you skeptics actually look at the studies you instantly dismiss? All of his functions were monitored. For the duration he was observed, he didnt have any recorded bowel movements, no record of periods of urination, no record of producing mucous that he spit or sneezed out, nor water loss from "various things". I said IF he isn't sweating, urinating, or having bowels, then there is nothing miraculous going on here, emphasis on the IF!
Hey Captain! I was in the US Marine Corp and I deployed to Iraq for 7 months. I went through the summer days to Fallujah. When I say I hardly drank any water and ate anything, I'm saying the absolute truth. This is with 24 hour posts and wearing about 80 pounds of gear on. He is not the only Hindu to do this either. This has been documented plenty of times.
Sunlight does contain vitamin D. Other energy sources may contain essential vitamins that can maybe power the body? Maybe there is more to this Universe (SCIENTIFICALLY) then what we have uncovered.
Hmmm, yes. These guys are hardcore anti-scientific bigots--they've always got to ram their "skeptical" ideology down our throats, like a bunch of naughty school boys who are gonna throw a tantrum if their claim on 'reality' is changed/disproven. It's not like studies like these haven't been done before. not that that ever matters to Randy (hehe) and co.
@seeqer66 What, observing every single individual animal except the one who claims to have miraculous powers suddenly doesn't count anymore? If he is not in a controlled experiment and the indian sceptics are denied access to him, there's no argument to be had about him being a fraud.
Hmmmm. The bigger problem of course is the closure of investigation through skeptical zeal. People need to understand why propositions are false; not to be told they are false with no evidence to back it. If the holy man is absorbing water, then provide a theory rather than malign the experimental method. E.g. What is the theory behind Wim Hof if it's not true?
When we stand in full sunlight we're around 2% photosynthetic via absorbance of light at 600-900nm in cytochrome c oxidase. Science isn't common sense, logic, belief, knowledge, faith, etc...it's a method for developing understanding through observation/experiment. Randi has decided to throw that out of the window and automatically discredit the whole thing due to his beliefs. It does sound a little far-fetched and unreal, but that doesn't automatically discredit it.
While I would agree, something is probably fishy about the man in question, I found only one statement in this video by Randi to suggest alternatives (ie the man might've consumed a bit of water during his cleansing). I was disappointed this was the only thing he could come up with besides a lot of decelerations about the people in India. It isn't one of Randi's finest moments.
Hey Randi what do you have to say about Wim Hof the Iceman he's able to withstand freezing temps, He placed himself in frozen ice for 2 hrs using meditation techniques, I've found people that use the techniques do amazing things, that scientists are puzzled. Huh let's see you debunk that Randi
@Hailwillisthedon Well then it must be a miracle! Seriously, unless you have an actual explanation, as in why the meditation would do anything to help the person, or (especially) if they don't offer one, than it's just a trick and you have fallen for it.
Randi insults the intelligence by his sneering cynacism and scepticism. He is like a medieval high priest who judges using his own zeal as if it were the definitive scientific standard. It's not. Sceptical fervour should not close down discussion or investigation. Randi, get on a plane, find the holy man and run your experiments. Then you can put yourself and us out of YOUR misery. Don't carp from the wings with your silly incentives, get in there and do something scientifically useful.
@smorri10 He he. He has repeatedly debunked many people who make fantastic claims. I feel like if he had communicated with the priest, the priest probably declined because he knows who Randi is. The priest needs to prove it. "If you're making a claim the burden of proof is on you."
Randi insults the intelligence by his belligerent cynicism and scepticism. He like a medieval high priest and not worthy of the sceptical, empirical tradition. Randi, get on a plane, find the holy an and bloody put yourself and us out of your misery.
Modern science will have to develop and evolve even more. Scientists, have not enough tools in order to explain from a rational standard, many strange phenomenons regarding, life, death, nature, universe and human beings. Due to the lack of understanding, some common people from today will find it easier to neglect any event related to such odd situations, hanging to the idea that science has not proved it. However, just great minds are capable of understanding the great.
Furthermore I appreciate James Randi for exposing frauds don't get me wrong, but the universe we live in is magic man, I mean it's just a fucking miracle that we ha ve life and we question our existence, we are the consciousness of this universe so I do believe people can do amazing things
James Randi you're an idiot man there are buddhists who meditate for months without food or water let alone days, you believe in science well there are some things science can't explain
@Tupacexpert Show him one person that did that! Do you know any? Have you seen that? If you believe that you are the idiot...buddhists eat, drink, piss and shit like everyone else...GET REAL
@KhaosCreator James old ass Randy doesn't know this man is a fraud no more than I know if God exists, why don't he stop making claims and prove that this man is a fraud. If he can't prove it he needs to shut his old bitter ass up.
@Tupacexpert Randi is not the one making claims...and he is not the one who has to come up with proof. The people that make the claims of supernatural abilities have to prove it. In so many years no one could show any kind of proof of any supernatural ability...and still people believe those stupid things...
@KhaosCreator Don't you know that there have been scientific studies involving monks on how they change their body temperatures and are able to withstand freezing temperatures, which scientists have yet been able to understand........Oh I guess they all were cheating according to you and old ass fart Randi /watch?v=vvplo5_EtV0 ............ Ever heard of Quantum Physics
@Tupacexpert BULLSHIT...Everyone claims scientific studies have been made for every stupid claim that is made...Show me those studies! Why don't other scientists (not randy) ever acknolegde them? Because their bullshit...Educate yourself...A discorvery like that would rock the world of science, people would give anything to discover something like, and if it really existed scientists would take it seriously...
@KhaosCreatoring Try TRY TRY to use that small pea in between your ears for a second and think about the magic of this universe that created a fucking moron like you. :) ..........WOW anything is possible!!!!!
@Tupacexpert Look, i'm not the one who believes in that sort of thing with no credible evidence and I'm not wasting anymore of my time with this discution...believe in whatever you want to believe! It's you life and your time...I don't care.
@KhaosCreator First of all have some respect towards that which is unknown to you. Do some research on this book; "Science Studies Yoga, A review of Physiological Data by James Funderburk, Ph.D. with introduction by Barbara B. Brown, Ph.D." I am doctor, an architect, and a yogi I am not making things up, I am not interested in proving nothing becauese that is not my goal. Only thing I ask is some respect from people like you who think their outlook is the best one. Humble you need to be humble.
@tapeshiva Being humble is actually a really good ideia, in that sense I agree with you. But asking for evidence for this claims is not wrong nor is being mean or evil. That book like many others on that subject failed to provide scientifically accepted evidence, just like many "studies" that were made in various topics of supernatural claims. And since you talk about being humble...who asked you for your credentials? I am an architect too and that doesn't make my point more any more valid...
@Khaos So colleage, you read the book from one day to the next, and I see you have studied in detail this books along with many other investigations on the subject..mmm it seems you´re an expert on the field. You see, this is the lack of humbleness I am talking about. There´s no harm while you ask for evidence, but it is unproper to release statements like "that book like many others failed.."cause you were not present and it is not your field of direct experience..credentials come from that.
@tapeshiva Look, if you want to believe such a thing that's fine with me. Belief is one thing, but to say that there is proof for these claims is another. These claims or "phenomenons" are not new, people have talked about them for centuries now. If serious science (not pseudoscience) ever proved things like these existed it would be HUGE...A HUGE feat and discovery for mankind. But some reason that evidence never comes to light, when is analysed by serious science. Don't you find that strange?
@KhaosCreator I am not a person who concludes out of belief, faith or dogma. I study first, I analyse in a suitable context and condition, so that finally I can understand a little more the subject. But I never judge, justify my empiric ideas, point at something, disrespect or even conlcued about anything, if I have not direct experience on it. Evidence has come to light not from pseudoscience, there´s no such thing as pseudoscience. We have science or no science at all...no middle points.
@tapeshiva There is a middle point : things people call science but is not ! like astrology ! People may start from assumptions like " the X constellation has an affect on all born on X sign" and a science is born, with books and everything. But astrology is not a real science, because in spite of all the counterexamples of their predictions, they still do not dismiss the assumption they started from.
James, this is thrue! Sun created all life on earth, if there is no sun, there is no life. You can try this, you have to watch directly to the sun, without eye movement, just stare. @jjjester123321 Nooo! I'm not kidding, you can try, everybody can do this, but it is a secret... it's a 21st century, everybody can know this, it's forgotten yoga. . . there is already meny people who practice sungazing!!!
However I am not a follower of Rene Mey and and like him there are some other few yogis. They don´t need the world to believe in them. When you practice such a discipline your goal are not the occult powers, your goal is the supreme being. Yoga is not a religion nor a sect, however I dont expect you to understand it. As I said before you are free to see the world the way it better works for you.
Interesting...I saw personally many events regarding Rene, what you are stating is only 35% correct....anyway tell me how do you know such things? If you were there side by side with Rene Mey tell me when it was, cause you sound so sure about everything..I don´t know if I shall laugh or what....the next thing you are going to say is that Budha and Jesus for instance, never did what they did cause you and Randi were not there to see it. Stay the way you are my friend, you are ok like that!!!

Finally, where did he prove or debunk this guy do not eat? The original claim of Indian is no food and water. To attack that point James expediently used his trick and generalised it.

@shobyms What does nutrition have to do with neuroscience?? The body cannot survive unless it receives energy in form of fluids and/or food. If you don't drink you die of kidney failure. You should maybe read a book on biology if you don't believe me.
That Indian guy was just another hoax and simple minded people fell for it, that's all there is to it.
AlexLeSmu 1 month ago
@AlexLeSmu yes a lot. your nutrition requirement is a conditioned process. In order to have a conditioned brain and subsequent course of action, you need to have your enzymes and hormones ready. In other words, one must have digestive related enzymes ready before and after each intake.Ex; HCL and insulin (basic). The amount you prefer to eat is a part of conditioning. Please do not teach me basic biology when I am already a graduate in related field/s( medical and psychology).
shobyms 1 month ago
@shobyms Do you have any personal experience to start up with? or do you just have these sceptic's books and videos? Why do not you take it up to a personal level and then find more about it? are you that simpleton to believe everything but you ready to accept anything that favours your position? Can we start judging it (deductive)critically instead of "one-sided" judgement ( inductive). James randi's refutes are not peer reviewed first of all! period.
shobyms 1 month ago
@shobyms Everybody needs to eat - I have no idea where you supposedly have earned a degree in a medical field, but every living organism has to process nutrition if they want to live. Humans cannot survive without water and food, that's a simple fact.
Eating is not a conditioned process, it's a natural process. Even insects eat and they do not even have an actual brain but only a rudimentary nerve system.
You constantly mix up things - get the money for your degree back!
AlexLeSmu 1 month ago
@AlexLeSmu : oh So the medical experts who does not believe the mainstream agenda, then he must be a fraud or get money back from the Uni? It is like saying "I am intelligent because I speak in English". I do not think that you studied well about bio-energy level and relation with diet. Eating is a conditioned process not a normal process, though it became habitual after a period of time.Lets have a look at a new born baby, who asked the food first? baby ? no way. we fed him/her.
shobyms 1 month ago
@shobyms ...Are you actually suggesting that babies don't need food to survive? Dear God, get some help.
iruparatso 4 weeks ago 2
@AlexLeSmu where did you get these all from anyway? where did I constantly mix up things? where is the incongruity? Just telling or claiming anything is very easy but explain and convince. "the food what you eat will normally be eliminated as faeces or urine" and the rest will be stored as fatty acids or carbo or proteins. However, these proteins never makes anyone to sustain.Take a look at Jericho sunfire on youtube or go and see him.
shobyms 1 month ago
@AlexLeSmu PPl died without food because they are conditioned to eat. their conditioning is "if you dont eat, then you will die".It is a mind over matter issue. The same we perform in Hypnosis. Basically, that's a metaphysical assumption rather than a scientifical claim. Another example, you cannot prove the unexistence of God empirically because that's simply not a possibility at the moment - which doesn't mean GOD survives the tests as well.
SophiasHeir 1 month ago
How fallacious. The first fact you've came up with, is clearly an abusive generalization you can't corroborate due to the implication of testing what there's not to verify. Science presuposes life to require a regular basis diet based on verification, but it can't offer a certainity regarding a universal dominion of life.
Example: science said all life dies due to an aging process. False; we know now that Turritopsis nutricula does not endure the aging process and hence is virtually immortal.

User5973 2 months ago
As right as I know James Randi to be, and as big a scam as this breathe-arian is, I actually had hoped he WOULD have uncovered DIRECT EVIDENCE that one of these people who are supposedly monitoring this "breathe-arian" saw the breathe-arian drink water and eat.
That would have made his argument much stronger: arguing from direct "experimental observation" rather than from the assumption of Conservation of Energy.
mphello 2 months ago
@mphello
I woukd belueve them if he was observed for something like, say, a month.
alexgrinkov 2 months ago
@alexgrinkov I tested myself 2 separate semesters at college: went an entire week without eating.
Did drink though.
= water is always absorbed by the skin= Come on. Skin is an excellent barrier AGAINST water. That's why it's skin! Some insignificant amt would be absorbed. NOTHING that could substitute for DRINKING.
So, this guy/guru HAD to be given drinks after 3 days.
I just wanted Randi to catch 'em in the act.

@Anoop20111 He is just stating that there were many things that can go wrong since this was a very poorly calibrated experiment
ebrobaru 6 months ago
@Anoop20111 to put it simply: Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence. There is no reason to believe that people can survive without water, so why should someone believe it just because of an alleged study which wasn't peer reviewed?
People can survive without eating, they'll just burn fat. It breaks the laws of thermodynamics — rigorously proven explanation— for a person to not lose weight after not eating for a long time.
A claim it can be broken should be treated appropriately.
MsHojat 6 months ago
@MsHojat Investigate on the person called Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) and check what he has to tell about it.

@Anoop20111 I had already looked that guy up on two separate occasions a while back. The sources are not accurate for all the tests, such as university of Pennsylvania which was a brain scan, not a fast (so an outright lie).

No... sunlight does contain ultraviolet radiation which produces vitamin d
willsmackyoudown 3 months ago
@willsmackyoudown
Tehrefore, you can't have vitamin D without eating food, on sunlight alone.
alexgrinkov 2 months ago

I dont know but obvioulsy the man was doing something.
willsmackyoudown 2 months ago
@alexgrinkov
Vitamin D is a hydrocarbon, meaning it is made up of a combination of the elements hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. The chemical structure of the varieties of vitamin D differ, but all forms are composed of only these three elements.
willsmackyoudown 2 months ago
@willsmackyoudown
And so? Ultraviolet doesn't contain hydrogen, carbon or oxygen. it's an electromagnetic radiation.
Vitamin D is created only in the skin from chemical reaction of ultraviolet with dehydrocholesterol (your beloved hydrogen, carbon and oxygen) which is produced by the body in the skin, from food and water.

>>if he doesn't piss, sweat, crap, or spit he isn't losing his bodies water thus cannot die of dehydration.
All of our cells need water to maintain the chemical reactions that keep them alive.
gininginin 3 months ago
@gininginin
CerebralPrince10 3 months ago
@CerebralPrince10 incorrect sir, you lose water when you breath, your body produces oils and water-based liquids all the time for various things. Your body (and this guru or whatever as well) produces mucous, oil for your hair and skin, and even if you don't eat anything for weeks, guess what, you will still have bowel movements due to the collection of bacteria in your intestines, and yes, you will lose water because of that too.
capchaos888 3 months ago
@capchaos888

@rinnhart

@willsmackyoudown Sunlight does most certainly not contain vitamin D. UV light is used to synthesize vitamin D by your skin.

I guess observation doesn't count anymore in "science".

@seeqer66
Hmmm, yes. These guys are hardcore anti-scientific bigots--they've always got to ram their "skeptical" ideology down our throats, like a bunch of naughty school boys who are gonna throw a tantrum if their claim on 'reality' is changed/disproven. It's not like studies like these haven't been done before. not that that ever matters to Randy (hehe) and co.
wawei67 4 months ago
@seeqer66 No, his point was that these people claim to have observed a physical impossibility.
judaserebus 3 months ago
@seeqer66 What, observing every single individual animal except the one who claims to have miraculous powers suddenly doesn't count anymore? If he is not in a controlled experiment and the indian sceptics are denied access to him, there's no argument to be had about him being a fraud.
ac1th 3 months ago
Hmmmm. The bigger problem of course is the closure of investigation through skeptical zeal. People need to understand why propositions are false; not to be told they are false with no evidence to back it. If the holy man is absorbing water, then provide a theory rather than malign the experimental method. E.g. What is the theory behind Wim Hof if it's not true?
smorri10 8 months ago
When we stand in full sunlight we're around 2% photosynthetic via absorbance of light at 600-900nm in cytochrome c oxidase. Science isn't common sense, logic, belief, knowledge, faith, etc...it's a method for developing understanding through observation/experiment. Randi has decided to throw that out of the window and automatically discredit the whole thing due to his beliefs. It does sound a little far-fetched and unreal, but that doesn't automatically discredit it.
laistecadal 8 months ago
While I would agree, something is probably fishy about the man in question, I found only one statement in this video by Randi to suggest alternatives (ie the man might've consumed a bit of water during his cleansing). I was disappointed this was the only thing he could come up with besides a lot of decelerations about the people in India. It isn't one of Randi's finest moments.

therealkakkamakkara 8 months ago
Hey Randi what do you have to say about Wim Hof the Iceman he's able to withstand freezing temps, He placed himself in frozen ice for 2 hrs using meditation techniques, I've found people that use the techniques do amazing things, that scientists are puzzled. Huh let's see you debunk that Randi
Hailwillisthedon 8 months ago
@Hailwillisthedon Well then it must be a miracle! Seriously, unless you have an actual explanation, as in why the meditation would do anything to help the person, or (especially) if they don't offer one, than it's just a trick and you have fallen for it.
albinoman13bt 8 months ago
Randi insults the intelligence by his sneering cynacism and scepticism. He is like a medieval high priest who judges using his own zeal as if it were the definitive scientific standard. It's not. Sceptical fervour should not close down discussion or investigation. Randi, get on a plane, find the holy man and run your experiments. Then you can put yourself and us out of YOUR misery. Don't carp from the wings with your silly incentives, get in there and do something scientifically useful.
smorri10 8 months ago
@smorri10 He he. He has repeatedly debunked many people who make fantastic claims. I feel like if he had communicated with the priest, the priest probably declined because he knows who Randi is. The priest needs to prove it. "If you're making a claim the burden of proof is on you."

@KhaosCreator James old ass Randy doesn't know this man is a fraud no more than I know if God exists, why don't he stop making claims and prove that this man is a fraud. If he can't prove it he needs to shut his old bitter ass up.
Tupacexpert 9 months ago
@Tupacexpert Randi is not the one making claims...and he is not the one who has to come up with proof. The people that make the claims of supernatural abilities have to prove it. In so many years no one could show any kind of proof of any supernatural ability...and still people believe those stupid things...
KhaosCreator 9 months ago
@KhaosCreator Don't you know that there have been scientific studies involving monks on how they change their body temperatures and are able to withstand freezing temperatures, which scientists have yet been able to understand........Oh I guess they all were cheating according to you and old ass fart Randi /watch?v=vvplo5_EtV0 ............ Ever heard of Quantum Physics
Tupacexpert 9 months ago
@Tupacexpert BULLSHIT...Everyone claims scientific studies have been made for every stupid claim that is made...Show me those studies! Why don't other scientists (not randy) ever acknolegde them? Because their bullshit...Educate yourself...A discorvery like that would rock the world of science, people would give anything to discover something like, and if it really existed scientists would take it seriously...

@Tupacexpert Look, i'm not the one who believes in that sort of thing with no credible evidence and I'm not wasting anymore of my time with this discution...believe in whatever you want to believe! It's you life and your time...I don't care.
KhaosCreator 9 months ago
@KhaosCreator First of all have some respect towards that which is unknown to you. Do some research on this book; "Science Studies Yoga, A review of Physiological Data by James Funderburk, Ph.D. with introduction by Barbara B. Brown, Ph.D." I am doctor, an architect, and a yogi I am not making things up, I am not interested in proving nothing becauese that is not my goal. Only thing I ask is some respect from people like you who think their outlook is the best one. Humble you need to be humble.
tapeshiva 8 months ago
@tapeshiva Being humble is actually a really good ideia, in that sense I agree with you. But asking for evidence for this claims is not wrong nor is being mean or evil. That book like many others on that subject failed to provide scientifically accepted evidence, just like many "studies" that were made in various topics of supernatural claims. And since you talk about being humble...who asked you for your credentials? I am an architect too and that doesn't make my point more any more valid...
KhaosCreator 8 months ago
@Khaos So colleage, you read the book from one day to the next, and I see you have studied in detail this books along with many other investigations on the subject..mmm it seems you´re an expert on the field. You see, this is the lack of humbleness I am talking about. There´s no harm while you ask for evidence, but it is unproper to release statements like "that book like many others failed.."cause you were not present and it is not your field of direct experience..credentials come from that.
tapeshiva 8 months ago
@tapeshiva Look, if you want to believe such a thing that's fine with me. Belief is one thing, but to say that there is proof for these claims is another. These claims or "phenomenons" are not new, people have talked about them for centuries now. If serious science (not pseudoscience) ever proved things like these existed it would be HUGE...A HUGE feat and discovery for mankind. But some reason that evidence never comes to light, when is analysed by serious science. Don't you find that strange?
KhaosCreator 8 months ago
@KhaosCreator I am not a person who concludes out of belief, faith or dogma. I study first, I analyse in a suitable context and condition, so that finally I can understand a little more the subject. But I never judge, justify my empiric ideas, point at something, disrespect or even conlcued about anything, if I have not direct experience on it. Evidence has come to light not from pseudoscience, there´s no such thing as pseudoscience. We have science or no science at all...no middle points.
tapeshiva 8 months ago
@tapeshiva There is a middle point : things people call science but is not ! like astrology ! People may start from assumptions like " the X constellation has an affect on all born on X sign" and a science is born, with books and everything. But astrology is not a real science, because in spite of all the counterexamples of their predictions, they still do not dismiss the assumption they started from.

James, this is thrue! Sun created all life on earth, if there is no sun, there is no life. You can try this, you have to watch directly to the sun, without eye movement, just stare. For the first time, you gaze 10 seconds, thand second day you gaze 20 seconds, and you increase the gaze by 10 seconds every time until you reach 45 minutes of constat gazing, when you reach that, your body transforms into the solar chip. than you can reduce the gaze time by 10 second again, until you reach 15 minute

tapeshiva 9 months ago
However I am not a follower of Rene Mey and and like him there are some other few yogis. They don´t need the world to believe in them. When you practice such a discipline your goal are not the occult powers, your goal is the supreme being. Yoga is not a religion nor a sect, however I dont expect you to understand it. As I said before you are free to see the world the way it better works for you.
tapeshiva 9 months ago
Interesting...I saw personally many events regarding Rene, what you are stating is only 35% correct....anyway tell me how do you know such things? If you were there side by side with Rene Mey tell me when it was, cause you sound so sure about everything..I don´t know if I shall laugh or what....the next thing you are going to say is that Budha and Jesus for instance, never did what they did cause you and Randi were not there to see it. Stay the way you are my friend, you are ok like that!!!
