  • Dynamite has some of my favorite comics. Red Sonja, Black Terror, Lone Ranger etc.

  • Haha!! It's GROO! I'm amazed that the series is still going. Do they have any new jokes? I was a hardcore comics collector from 1975-1996, but am just keeping track of a couple series nowdays. My b/f has been introducing me to a lot of manga and I'm enjoying a lot of that as well.. Anyway, fun to hear you talking about comics!

  • Groo uses the same one joke every issue... LOL

When I go back to Japan next year I think I will finally cut the chord with monthly issues and just go to reading TPBs.

  • Really disliked Winnick's superhero books (ow, my Titans), but everything I've heard about Barry Ween is good.

Speaking of the Batbooks, Morrison's Batman & Robin has been remarkably entertaining, and I always love Rucka. Dini's stuff, which I was most looking forward to after his excellent run on Detective, has turned out predominantly bland.

  • I was enjoying Miller and Lee's run on B&R, but just because Miller is a word god and Lee is an art god - the book isn't amazing, but so pretty to look at.

Try Barry Ween - it's awesome!

  • Thanks for the recommendations Jason! I'm intrigued by Usagi. I just finished McKean's Cages a few nights ago. I think it's a towering achievement in the medium, and one of the best comics I've ever read. Highly recommended. Have you ever looked into foreign comics. There's a talented fellow by the name of Enki Bilal who wrote the Nikipol trilogy among other works. Also Alexandro Jodorowsky who is known for his work on the Technopriests, the Incal, and the Metabarons. Phil

  • Dave McKean is a super sweet guy in addition to being a phenomenal artist and talent.

    I know Bilal's work - good stuff.

  • The Walking Dead is excellent, it continues to get better. If you get hold of it i would be interested to hear what you think. Cheers mate

  • Thanks for the mention :) I gotta agree on most, with ECHO tho, I find it has too many stories going on for 30 issue run. Or possible 30 ish run.

  • The word is anthropo-mor-phize. And actually, it's the other way around. You take animals, fictional figures and whatnot and turn them into human forms.

I'm not into comics at all. But this made me realize just MAYBE I've been missing out on something quite cool.

Oh, wait!! Actually, I was a big fan of Nagai Go when I was growing up in Japan (so were all my friends.) He's the creator of such comic heros as Devilman and Majingaa Z (both of which were made into tv anime series in the mid-70s.)

  • Very cool - always great when people keep an open mind. I would highly recommend Strangers in Paradise by T. Moore and the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman - both are fantastic non-superhero books that I've given many times to non-comics readers and they've always been well liked.

  • did you get the chance to find Dogwitch?

  • I checked out the website - I like the clean, B&W art, but the subject matter is a little too horror for me.

  • hey jason you can just pinpoint thumbails

because they are always at the same time

the second one is always ecatly in the middle, you'd have to look it up

but you can "prepare" for thumbnails =P
