Ah my Mum was pulled out the audience on the Golden Shot show when she was a teenager and ended up winning a cool record player. I'm trying to find the episode with her on! Her names Bernadette (Bernie for short, like bernie the bolt!) if anyone finds it, msg me please. :)
I dont believe that is your occupation. More likely you work, or worked at Subaseal on Wakefield Road making hot water bottles, and tended to dream whilst attaching bottle stoppers. I also believe you have a prosthetic leg.
Such bitterness. Psychologically this is likely to be because your mother died when you were very young, through contracting Syphillis as a whore on the streets of Barnsley. The result is a bitterness towards certain section of society. And you have a penis fixation.
Well i agree ; i wouldnt have taken into account his celebrity meself if he'd tried that nonsense although him being negro is irrelevant.I mean, i have'nt seen such complaints about Barrack Obama on here or Lenny Henry whatever folk think of them
wonder if there will be any complete editions of the golden shot from 74-75 with bob monkhouse uploaded in the coming months.about 12 editions have been found in his personal collection.
I always remember this being shown on Sunday teatimes, and feeling depressed cos it was back to school the next day. Bob Monkhouse was the host, but i remember some tv documentary a few years ago making mention of Charlie Williams, and the fact that he apparently, looked as at ease as a hedgehog crossing the road!
My Grandmother appeared on the show in 1981, and won a cut glass decanter, which she treasured for many years, until it broke. She was devestated, and killed herself.
My Grandmother appeared on the show in 1974 ..never won the decanter ...bob monkhouse was fed up with her and shit her in the clostame bag ..but we were happy ..;-)
Charlie Williams was crap on this show - way out of his depth, and if memory serves, it was a career finisher for him. Monkhouse was the king of the tv game show - none like him before or after. Whether you liked him or not, he was a genius at the ad-lib and one liner.
Hello Titan, I enjoyed watching your clips of the golden shot, many thanks for loading! You mention some episodes and I wondered if you might have the one featuring Paul & Barry Ryan. From my foggy memory it would be about 1969 and they wore white suits.
cbak12sg raises a good point. It was originally Heinz The Bolt. Charlie Williams "Me Ole Flower" was a disaster, but even that eclipsed Norman Vaughan (although credit to the man's genius as he devised Bullseye).
I recall the first time I saw The Golden Shot, I was about 8 or so, possibly younger, and as I sat in front of the B&W Pye TV, I was given the treat of a Birds Eye Supermousse to eat - they had just hit the supermarkets. Golden memories.
wasn't there a chocolate bar called Super Moose...kind of like a Milky Way?? Great taste. It had a Moose cartoon promotional gimmick. Great taste! Aztec bars were good too..remember them??
OMG - yes, I do remember super moose, they had a little picture of a moose face on them, aztec bars too. But lets not forget " Texan..the mighty chew!" and "Nutty Bars", used to love them. Followed by" Spanish Gold", which was sweet tobacco in a pouch...Ahh them were the days!.lol.
Yeah I remember that Spanish Gold stuff. there was some kind of bubble gum made to look like pirate gems too. Count Dracula's Deadly Secret was a black ice lolly with a red bit inside...remember that one???
Am I among the few old enough to remember Heinz The Bolt, who did Bernie's job when Jackie Rae was host?
Sadly, it's inconceivable that this gem could ever return. For one thing it was live, and what with so many health and safety issues, a bolt action rifle being attached to a TV camera is a no-no.
Great clip! Have you got any more from this particular show? Have you got any clips from the later Bob Monkhouse shows which has the theme tune that goes "This is your Golden day...etc. don't know how the rest of it goes. I'm sure I must be the only person on earth who remembers the last ever theme tune to The Golden Shot! I don't go back as far as the 60s b/w days though.
All thats left is !x Jackie Rae, 1967, end 3/4 of a 1969 Monkhouse, 1 x 1970 Monkhouse, 1 x 1973 Vaughan, 2 x 1974 Williams and reel one of 3 of another Williams. There's also a domestic recording of at least one Monkhouse from the last series, all from Williams on are on colour tape, the rest are b/w film prints.
Funnily it's the last series with Monkhouse I recall as well, but have only seen clips from the off-air recording, never seen a full ep from this run since '75!
Are there any clips in existence of the Norman Vaughan shows? I would be fascinated to see them.

Update: Kaleidoscope the TV archiving society have been handed care of Bob's collection from his estate.
They have uncovered 15+ of final season Bob taped himself, and a few earlier editions.
All to be unveiled in October at the BFI.
Try Kaleidoscope Publishing or the masauleum club for details.
