This video is pretty old, but its funny to look back on and see how it all turned out. The Tesla came out and did pretty well (for an expensive $100k sports car), and the range is accurate. Still no Phoenix, or Zap X, or Javlon, and I doubt any of them will actually produce anything. There are now two electric vehicles soon to be on the market - the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf.
yea the ooil companies are buying out the u.s government not to go away from oilr then lots of oil companies wuld be out of buisneess there are alot of cars that dont run on ooi; but kept secret one car can run on water
Reltively expensive NanoSafe battery pack can be recharged in very short time and can function longer than the estimated lifetime of the vehicle. Check "lithium-titanate battery" on Wikipedia for details
what i don't like 'bout the electric cars is that they cost soooooo much! how many ppl can acually afford a $60,000 car?! but at least u wouldn't have 2 spend any money on gas.
It appears you haven't done the maths on that one. If you check out peoples electric conversions they pay as little as a few hundred dollars extra on their power bill for daily driving. Much cheaper than gasoline for a year. That's probably the most interesting thing about these cars. And yes the power company would like that :-)
the 10 minute recharge time is nice. Would work nicely for charging stations because it would sort of encourage people to go into those convenient stores, but the long recharge would have to be strictly for commuting.
Great public transport combined with small, efficient gas-powered (or maybe hydrogen) cars. Electric cars are a stop gap, but we need to produce the electricity from somewhere. The chassis of the Phoenix is made by SsangYong.
. Mass production of electric vehicles could again make the United States a world leader that manufactures something that is good for our environment and our economy. Tax Credits for manufactures within the United States would also have the added benefit of decreasing the trade deficit and increasing tax revenues and creating a stronger economy. An added benefit of electric vehicle production is more jobs, improving air quality, and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.
My entire house is solar powered; if I could recharge an electric car with my solar system than I have eliminated the need for oil/gasoline. I'm just wanting for an electric vehicle that is affordable for the average Joe.
Agreed...But they need to bring the price tag waaaay down...Me personally I can't afford a $30,000.00 vehicle! I personally don't care if it looks like a sports car...All I want is a dependable car that no longer makes me a slave of the oil companies...
What makes the Phoenix so special is the battery that powers it: the Altair NanoSafe battery, which is made in Reno, Nevada. Most other batteries only last 1,000 or so charge/discharge cycles, but the NanoSafe has been tested to last more than 30,000 cycles, and still working fine. That would be equivalent to driving an electric car 120 miles a day for more than 80 years.
Some ev manufacturers have a lease on the battery so if it goes wrong you always get a new one. Its like with your phone battery, they can last many years and never need replacing. Especially the new lithium nano batteries can last much longer. The price of batteries is always falling, after all it's just a battery, pretty easy to make.

Yes price is a little high now but don't forget it will come down as am sure you will know, give them time and give them a chance.
$29,000us is not too bad for a new car, subtract the cost of fuel for the years you may own it? recharging would only cost a dollar or two I think?

I 100% agree with all you said....BUT you forgot one thing, over a TRILLION dollars left in crude oil yet to be sucked from the earth
scorpionkings 3 years ago
It's much less about the environment for me, it's the cheap running cost and 0-60 in 3 seconds and charging in 10 mins that kind of appeals :)
Check out the Electric Ariel Atom and the British Electric Lightning... astonishing :)
