  • ALTHOUGH EVERYBODY KNOWS KEITHS INFLUENCE'S ARE THE BLUES

PERSONALLY, I THINK KEITH SOUNDS MORE LIKE SCOTTY

''EVERYBODY WANTED TO BE ELVIS, I WANTED TO BE SCOTTY''

    (KEITH ONCE SAID)

  • Buick 225 ain't no Cadillac

  • Holy Hannah! Levon Helm and Keith Richards together and sharing vocals?!? Didn't know this was physically possible but I'm glad I ran across this. Two musicians who honor the genre of rock and roll and deliver virtually every time. Nice tune here...hope they collaborate again.

  • DAN!! I just found your video here . Hey from Africa - Pete!

  • Thanks! I have a full documentary with much of the session on film but have not gotten the money to finish it. Check out the clip I posted with Scotty, D. J. Ron Wood and Jeff Beck. I have hundreds of stills from all the sessions we did but have hesitated to post any of the video material as I want to put it out someday.

    Take care,

    Dan

  • Really like the sound of the guitar's they sound fantastic.

  • Thanks Tom

  • Hi Dan, great footage, great song, i always think guys like this don't HAVE to do anything they don't want too. they do the gig because they love to and it's show's.

They all look on great form.

    Cheers Trev, Manchester, England.

  • Hi, I appreciate the comments. Keith's dad is the short elderly guy with the Scottish hat and moustache. He stayed up all night with us and enjoyed every minute. Burt also kept in touch with some of the people he met at the session. I was lucky enough to be his after-show babysitter on the Bridges To Babylon. I swear this is true - when Burt was at the shows he and Keith played scrabble every night until it was time for bed at around 3:00 AM. I consider myself blessed to know both of them.

  • pure joy...can someone tell me which fellow is Keiths father

  • pure joy...

  • now this is more like it

  • If you watch the 68 comeback Special, Scotty was never really upfront on guitar and it was an Elvis’s narcissistic moment. Somehow he got disconnected from the music. I like the James Burton stuff, but he is background elevator music, if you can find me a song when James Burton is leading the show let me know. He is always sounding weak, Listen to the guitar on don’t be cruel and little sister. No comparison.

  • AWESOME!! Love this tune!!

  • This is absolutely Awesome !!! - Thank You so much for the Gift.....

  • I recently finished reading Levon's book and am almost through reading Keith's book, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to watch this video. Have always been a Scotty Moore fan too. I have been to Woodstock, NY many times so I'm very familiar with the vibe that place has. Thanks for sharing this with everyone..

  • Real legends.

    Real music.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Great song from great talents. Thx for posting Dan!

  • Kevin Gordon, who wrote this song, is a friend of mine. I am trying to imagine the rush that comes with having your song covered by such an august assembly. If you are unfamiliar with Kevin, you owe it to yourself to search his other stuff here on YouTube, including his duet with Lucinda Williams. He's an amazing, yet sadly little known, talent.

  • Hey Duane, sure I know Kevin. When I was putting the record together I couldn't get Keith or Levon to come up with any ideas for an unrecorded song, so I called Kevin and Gwil Owen. they had written a couple of great songs for Sonny Burgess' Rounder Record so I asked them if they had a song that kinda mixed Exile On Main Street with Music From Big Pink. They said they didn't but they would write one! This is the great song they came up with and Keith, Levon and Scotty made it their own.

  • @dan4456, Man they sure did. Amazing group of talent, and a great cover of a great song.

  • love it,,,,

  • Killer. One of the greatest (and least heard) recording sessions around. Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this. I have been to Levon Helms Midnite Rambles on two occassions and will be there again 5/30/2011 . Warren Haynes will be the guest. That barn is still making the music come alive.

  • This is really cool. That's an impressive group of world beating musicians making it seem so easy. I would loved to have been a fly on the wall during that session.

  • great pics , great music I must say I got a chill seeing Rick Danko, the music world misses him.

  • That looks like Cowboy Jack Clement in a few photos

  • The photos were shot by the criminally obscure Jim Herrington

  • Fantastic, thank you for the video-pics and the great song!

  • wow. this is incredible. thx for sharing and posting this gem.

  • Now this is a song !!

  • once and awhile you hear a song tht just makes you want to smile, and you can never forget it. i will never forget this song. i love it... <3

  • This is just amazing. Love the shot of Keith's dad on the sofa. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks Ralph. I will be posting more in the next couple of days. I have a lot of Scotty Moore footage I am going to be posting - most of it is too good to keep in my closet and since I can't raise the funds to finish the documentary, I may as well share the stuff with fans. I am posting another photo montage with Scotty, D. J., Jeff Beck and Ron Wood from the end of our sessions for the CD.

  • great photos! thanks for putting this together
