This is really something!!! The music goes through my ears, heart and out to my legs - I can´t sit still. This is honest, raw and dirty good rock music. I get the same feeling when I listen to THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". The recordings were made 1965. Can´t believe it!!!!!! It´s super.
There are quite a few documentaries on Aussie rock that refer to this. It is not actually a visual effect but the result of the shear volume that these guys played at vibrating the valve tubes and internal electronics of the cameras to the point of causing this visual distortion.
AS i understand it , there was no attempt at special effects . It was a result of the sheer volume affecting the equipment . Thorpie will always be no 1
Thorpey involved the crowd like few others before or after. A true rock legend who deserved a FAR bigger audience. Have a listen to "God" if you get the chance
Seriously?? ELVIS ring a bell? I actually liked The Animals version & I really like this version......but come on now.......ELVIS owned this song. That's my opinion
as i understand it those 'video effects' are not bad tape, but distortion created within the cinecamera by the incredible volume that Thorpie played at. this distortion was evident on most of Thorpie's old GTK performances recorded by the ABC in the early 70s. More grunt than a truckload of pigs, as the saying goes...
this has to be one of the best songs on you tube just awsome! great to find videos like this! thanks ;)

"Not sure what they were trying to do with the video effects?"
Bad or primitive video tape recording equipment.

I wonder why "stimulation" is not that popular; is it considered too different than the other Billy albums?

LOL... not sure if those are "Video effects" Just looks like a bad tape. Excellent nonetheless as Billy's work is hard too find. Thanx !

Aye I heard he always had the loudest gigs
FunkadAlex 3 years ago
you're right about the distortion. The cameras weren't up to it.
Ledvolta 3 years ago
Not just the cameras, my ears are buggered because of Thorpie, permanent tinnitus in both ears. Christ he was loud!
