I do anon protests sometimes, because it's just so bad. Even in a small country like mine they have quite a few people watching our protests. It's sick. I do believe that everyone has the right to believe in what they want, but this is horrible. Honestly, I'm religeous, but I don't have to donate thousands of dollars to my religeon. Scientology makes me feel sick.

Dueteronomy tells the story of the former slaves of Egypt being led to the promised land. The advice to kill those of unknown beliefs who try to lead them away from the pilgrimage was to avoid being taken back into slavery and has NOTHING to do with Christianity as that part of the bible predates Christ.
I love people who try to debate theology when they havent even the facts of the chronological placement of events at thier disposal, they're so amusing in thier stupidity.

Deuteronomy and Leviticus are books that tell the specific stories and laws the Levites. I am not a Levite nor am I in the position to condone anything. There are only 10 specific commandments, the rest of the bible is stories of how different societies applied these commandments and what the outcome was.
Anyone who reads or quotes the bible in the minutiae that it is written, with no knowledge of the history or people it talks about, probably shouldn't be reading it.

Holy in the ancient Hebrew simply means removed from the ordinary, interestingly the ancient Hebrew word for prostitute is a variation of the Hebrew word for holy, as a prosititute would be removed from the ordinary pursuits of common man.

In regards to your comment about living by many of the passages: Let's say, for argument sake, that the Bible timeline of mankind is accurate. That would mean that God left mankind alone for 2000 years before he gave Moses the 10 commandments. Given 2000 years we likely would have found out on our own that stealing, killing and fucking around on our spouse leads nowhere but bad places, so, did the the commandments really do anything more than reiterate what we had already discovered on our own?

Myself, I can't find a single thing wrong with what that cat called Jesus Christ had to say. Be kind, be charitable, forgive yourself and others instead of carrying around the burden of a grudge, pick your fights carefully (contrary to popular belief JC wasn't a total pacifist as he did say to turn the other cheek but to also recognize that harm done to the least of your bretheren should be considered harm unto yourself) etc. I keep looking for something to disagree with and I just cant find it.

My favorite from Jesus is "He who is without sin may cast the first stone." There are many morals that can be taken from that one story. But I speculate on turning the other cheek. I learned the hard way that it has conditions. If I would have fought back it middle school, then I would have ended many of my hardships and gained respect from bullies. Or loving your enemy. My enemies are murders, rapist, pedophiles, etc... I have no intentions of loving them.

I've always thought that religious works were always best taken as a whole. Yes, Jesus said to turn the other cheek but he also said that any offence against the least of my brethren is an offense against me. Put those two together and that sounds like, "Choose you battles wisely, Son, and make sure that they benefit the many instead of the few."

That, or these deities are so in tune with we humans that they aren't supposed to tell us anything that we haven't already figured out on our own. We aren't animals in that we don't depend solely on instinct and habit, we can also reason, empathise, plan for the future and, most importantly, make decisions of our own free will. Perhaps every deity just left us alone until we had a working model of a society and then reiterated what we already knew? Or perhaps, as you said, we just created them.

I do ponder how different humans are from animals. Creative art seems to be the piece of the puzzle that separates us. But I can understand why deities were created, for many reasons. The law cant catch every criminal, but you can deter some with "all accounts recorded", and "afterlife punishment". Maybe I shouldnt convince others that they dont exist? Also deities improved morale for allies and frightened opposing forces for war. You cant lose when you have a deity on your side. Woohoo!!!!
