@MrSean677 comedy is all relative so when expressing an opinion on a comedian present it as such or you may come across as ignorant. For example "I MrSean677 do not find Noel Feilding funny and I cannot understand why he is so popular".
@omartron David's main TV appearances were on "Little Britain" - which majorly had catchphrases that would be used for each of the sketches on the show.
Both shows have serious faults, but at least The Mighty Boosh is imaginative - for some reason, even though I don't piss myself when I watch the Boosh, the show draws me in like an infectious disease (have the box set for fucks sake)
Both shows have serious faults, but at least The Mighty Boosh is imaginative - for some reason, even though I don't piss myself when I watch the Boosh, the show draws me in like an infectious disease (have the box set for fucks sake)
no matter what corner you try to back noel fielding into or hole you try to dig for him he literally always comes back with something as witty as this
@wicked4584 good point. However, there is a difference. Any Little Britain sketch is based purely around the build up to the catch phrase - the punch line to every joke remaining the same, the jokes themselves are considerably cheapened. The Mighty Boosh certainly did go down hill, but in terms of variety - whole new songs etc - they beat Little Britain every single time.
@romeosdistress You really can't compare Little Britain with the Mighty Boosh. They're two totally different shows that utilise totally different styles of comedy. Both are absolutely brilliant. Little Britain does in no way base all of it's punchlines around a catchphrase, the catchphrases are slotted in around. The great thing about Little Britain is that each sketch has more than one punchline, which is why it's so hilarious. Both shows are cleverly written gems, but they cannot be compared.
@wicked4584 Oh yeah - forgot about those. Although the catchphrases are kind of thrown in occasionally every three episodes - like when The Doctor says 'Bow ties are cool', 'Would you like a jelly baby?' and 'Allonsy!' You don't see em all the time
@MrBronwaugh You seem to be suffering with memory loss...lol Dude, that show is FULL of catchphrases! It was known for it. Let me refresh your memory: "I want that one" or "Computer says no.." or "Eh eh ehhh" or "I'm a lady!" or "I'm the only gay in the villiage" or "But yeah, but. no. but. yeah. but no" just to name a few.
@Cherrywoo77 Dude, I didn't say that. Maybe your suffering from serious dyslexia? Nah, it's just I was talking about the catchphrases in The Mighty Boosh, which are very few.
@MrBronwaugh Ahh that makes more sense. Didn't see the rest of the conversation & assumed you were talking about little britain Ah well, my bad (currently suffering with sleep deprivation!)
@zahinster Walliams implied that the Mighty Boosh is just silly and devoid of any real humour. Noel came back by poking fun at the fact that Little Britain is of equally little merit by picking on it's numerous catchphrases around which many of the sketches revolve.
@TheValleyGamers The Mighty Boosh (Noel) doesn't have 'jokes', while David's show (little Britain), is filled with catchphrases. Basically both are mocking each others comedy styles.
@TheValleyGamers The Mighty Boosh is 'famous' i suppose, for surreal content and stuff that isnt really conventional joke telling, where as Little Britian is all about catch phrases. So they picked on each others comedy styles :)
@pigdog425 Walliams was basically having a go at the unique type of humour the Boosh have, which lacks a traditional joke-structure and is quite surreal and Noel replied "catchphrases" since "Little Britain" is based on the repetition of catchphrases in similar situations. I hope it helped!
@holviva David Walliams took the piss out of The Mighty Boosh's surreal humour that often lacks conventional joke structure, and Noel Fielding retorted by taking the piss out of the fact that Little Britain tends to rely on catchphrases as its source of humour.
@DoveAlexa Seeing as this is a British show, what they're refering to is common knowledge to us so context isn't really needed.
David Walliams is calling Noel's show unfunny by asking if it's missing jokes, so Noel responds by saying it's missing catchphrases, something David Walliams' own show is famous for.
@GameOfYears most of the audience won't have got it, i'm guessing the majority of people smart enough to get the jokes in never mind the buzzcocks don't watch "shittle britain", i beg you pardon, "little" :s
@rayonator500 of course noel's joke actually requires the audience to have watched little britain, or at least remember watching it, which i'm sure a lot of them don't.
@GameOfYears Whenever I see the "Noel Fielding Vs." titles, I can't help but think that a comedian tournament would be incredible. Summat like Epic Rap Battle of History :D
i can't make out what walliams said.. something about getting something from the boosh tour perhaps jokes.. could someone write down walliams' question? thanks!
@1990Adamd That attitude only works if everybody is in your gang and likes you, in the rest of the world wrong is never the new right. If you fuck up people will notice that you fuck up and consider that makes you an ignorant fuck up, and when you make out that fucking up is cooler than noticing they will consider you an arrogant ignorant fuck up.
Don't assume that a mistake that is not corrected isn't a mistake. Most people don't correct you because they don't care that you're a fuck up.
@MartinJWillett ....Not a hundred percent sure, but I think you're missing the point. The dude, completely out of the blue and responding to no stimuli apart from the fact that the grammatical mistake was there, proceeded to correct one solitary error that did not even need to be corrected, as it still made sense to everyone.
And to be honest, I'd rather people didn't trawl through my comments and only reply to them if I put two c's in necessary rather than one...
@MartinJWillett Alrighty, judging by your intentions, you appeared to want to belittle someone by telling them that one bit of their grammar was incorrect without prompts. Even if you intended to help the guy out with his grammar, you did it in such a way to put him down. If you really wanted to help, be nice or PM him.
@1990Adamd Belittle? Why? Everybody makes mistakes, it's normal. Correcting privately means nobody except the person who made the error has a chance to learn from it. The only reason to correct somebody privately would be if it was an embarrassing error that nobody else was ever likely to make. Learning from other people's errors is one of the great mechanisms for human progress. Millions of people every day use an apostrophe for possessive its, and they are wrong.
@MartinJWillett True, but did you have to do it in such a dickish and condescending way? "Bet you've never heard this before dickweed, but "it's" is wrong. Did you even go to school?" is the general message I get from that, not "Just so you know, "it's" isn't used in the correct context here. It's "its"."
Just seems like you wanted to step on his testicles whilst correcting him on something I'm very sure he doesn't give a damn about.
@1990Adamd Ah, I see your problem. You're using the wrong internal voice. Try re-reading it in the voice of Stephen Fry talking to Alan Davies rather than whatever tone of voice your bullies used on you. Only the insecure regard correction as mean-spirited put-down. If in doubt always thank anybody who corrects you, if they intended to help they feel better about helping, if they intended to demean you then you're one up against them.
@MartinJWillett MAN! You are quite obviously a special breed of 'cunt' aren't you, laddy! Get a fucking life you little fuckwit! You're most likely a little 16 year old studying English at A level and were bullied in school, and this is your way of feeling better about it all :( hahahaha!
@CHRISTIAN6182 You quite obviously lack the ability to click a link as well as to make reasonable assumptions. You off with my age by a factor of three, probably a similar factor for my size and I have never studied English literature. At least you guessed my sex correctly.
Obvious? The only thing which is obvious here is that you have gone to the trouble to pwn yourself and then laughed at your own failure.Well done.
David Tennant beat Noel I think, he played Coldplay as a subtle "fuck you i like them", he simply would not be budged, that made him the coolest on that day.
absolutely genius :D its all in good faith though cause walliams went along to one of the nights of the boosh tour and wished them good luck backstage
I saw that too on 'journey of the child men'. David was bragging about doing theater with Michael Gambon, and then he asked Noel :"Do you know who Michael Gambon is?" As if Noel is some uncultured retard.
I've just started to get into British comedies so I don't get what Noel's response means. Are they something David Walliams says a lot on his show? Genuine question.
@sonaliegh David Walliams show, Little Britain is very heavily catchphrase based. Noel Fieldings show, The Mighty Boosh isn't a joke based show. It's very surreal like Noel is himself.
@ShitmoIe OK. I've seen The Mighty Boosh before but never Little Britain so i didn't get what he was referring to. Thanks for clearing that up! Now I can laugh hilariously with everyone else. LOL.
I seriously want to ship these two. Their long-term animosity is worthy of a few angry-sex slash stories. Too bad I'm already stuck at the first line.
Noel Fielding absolutely SUCKED on the comedy road show.... it was like crickets... He's really not funny and just relies on his weirdness to get a cheap laugh. Was a disgrace, this man shouldn't even be on TV.
@SuperGermany77 simply by refusing to believe you could be funnier than the person you started badmouthing in the first place, people who do that tend to have a weak sense of humor, lack of imagination, and/or popularity complex. the fact noel is successful shows he IS funny and it isnt his wierdness, its his witty comebacks, his deliverance of the jokes and his spontaneous funny attitude borderlining feigned ignorance.
compared to him i cant imagine you to be capable of more than fart jokes
@SuperGermany77 you said it was like crickets and now you say the crowd go laughing, you seem to be undermining your own argument by showing that people like him instead of trying to show why people shouldnt like him. so far all you have done is come on a clip featuring someone you find unfunny, comment on how you say he is unfunny, and then go on to say he makes a lot of people laugh by saying "fluffy dragon" of all things. and you dont know much about me, im not a "sir" i am a "miss"
@HyuugaCharlie What kind of woman's name is Charlie, anyways. The statement I said about crickets was a referal to was in a video called "Noel Fielding - Comedy Roadshow" - try looking it up, so I stand by my comment. If you rely to this please speak German, as im tired of talking English to arrogant "small Englanders"
@SuperGermany77 if you are turning the argument into a nationality conflict then you can get the fuck out. if you cant say anything in reply without dragging unrelated issues into it then you may as well not bother replying to this. charlie is a unisex name, use google, you might learn something new. calling me arrogant for stating a fact shows your ignorance as a person , as someone unable to accept when they are proven wrong. and where did you get fluffy dragon from if not the comedy clips?
What pisses me off most is how much David Walliams is laughing at his own joke, I've always found him intensely creepy and I never laughed once at Little Britain.

absolutely genius :D its all in good faith though cause walliams went along to one of the nights of the boosh tour and wished them good luck backstage

@billiesbiggesfan
I saw that too on 'journey of the child men'. David was bragging about doing theater with Michael Gambon, and then he asked Noel :"Do you know who Michael Gambon is?" As if Noel is some uncultured retard.

naa, Walliams had time to make up that joke, Fielding was on the spot.
WALIMAN93 6 months ago
@WALIMAN93
Thats true, but it was a bit of an obvious reply, really. Especially for a professional comedian.
can0mark 6 months ago
David is funny but he is totally outclassed by Noel's smart, spontaneous & effortless humour...........

Can't stand Walliams or Little Britain. I love that he thought he could get one over on Fielding - what a tit, you just can't do it.
orangesquidge 9 months ago 7
good rebuke. fielding is always sharp and off the cuff.
naughtyboymessiah 9 months ago
I've just started to get into British comedies so I don't get what Noel's response means. Are they something David Walliams says a lot on his show? Genuine question.
sonaliegh 9 months ago
@sonaliegh David Walliams show, Little Britain is very heavily catchphrase based. Noel Fieldings show, The Mighty Boosh isn't a joke based show. It's very surreal like Noel is himself.
ShitmoIe 9 months ago 4
@ShitmoIe OK. I've seen The Mighty Boosh before but never Little Britain so i didn't get what he was referring to. Thanks for clearing that up! Now I can laugh hilariously with everyone else. LOL.

I love how you can hear Phill bust out laughing after noel says catch phrases :) it makes my heart smile :D

I seriously want to ship these two. Their long-term animosity is worthy of a few angry-sex slash stories. Too bad I'm already stuck at the first line.

@charlotteBraillie Long-term animosity? Really?? I'm going to have to google this.

Noel Fielding absolutely SUCKED on the comedy road show.... it was like crickets... He's really not funny and just relies on his weirdness to get a cheap laugh. Was a disgrace, this man shouldn't even be on TV.
I declare this man a douche, that is all.
SuperGermany77 10 months ago
@SuperGermany77 he's funnier than you, "douche" bag.
HyuugaCharlie 10 months ago
@HyuugaCharlie You know nothing about me, how can you judge ones humour on a comment you saw on youtube?
SuperGermany77 10 months ago
@SuperGermany77 simply by refusing to believe you could be funnier than the person you started badmouthing in the first place, people who do that tend to have a weak sense of humor, lack of imagination, and/or popularity complex. the fact noel is successful shows he IS funny and it isnt his wierdness, its his witty comebacks, his deliverance of the jokes and his spontaneous funny attitude borderlining feigned ignorance.
compared to him i cant imagine you to be capable of more than fart jokes
HyuugaCharlie 10 months ago 2
@HyuugaCharlie He has no joke, he just says something like "Fluffy dragon" and the crowd go laughing, you sir are the one with a bad sense of humour.
SuperGermany77 10 months ago
@SuperGermany77 you said it was like crickets and now you say the crowd go laughing, you seem to be undermining your own argument by showing that people like him instead of trying to show why people shouldnt like him. so far all you have done is come on a clip featuring someone you find unfunny, comment on how you say he is unfunny, and then go on to say he makes a lot of people laugh by saying "fluffy dragon" of all things. and you dont know much about me, im not a "sir" i am a "miss"
HyuugaCharlie 10 months ago
@HyuugaCharlie What kind of woman's name is Charlie, anyways. The statement I said about crickets was a referal to was in a video called "Noel Fielding - Comedy Roadshow" - try looking it up, so I stand by my comment. If you rely to this please speak German, as im tired of talking English to arrogant "small Englanders"
Auf Wiedersehen.
SuperGermany77 10 months ago
@SuperGermany77 if you are turning the argument into a nationality conflict then you can get the fuck out. if you cant say anything in reply without dragging unrelated issues into it then you may as well not bother replying to this. charlie is a unisex name, use google, you might learn something new. calling me arrogant for stating a fact shows your ignorance as a person , as someone unable to accept when they are proven wrong. and where did you get fluffy dragon from if not the comedy clips?
HyuugaCharlie 10 months ago
@HyuugaCharlie Ich verstehe nicht, sprechen Deutsch...

@HyuugaCharlie Sorry I don't understand a word you're saying, I don't speaking English.

What pisses me off most is how much David Walliams is laughing at his own joke, I've always found him intensely creepy and I never laughed once at Little Britain.
