I wonder what Rorschach would've done if that child killer got out of the house alive, he would've probably put him in a another jigsaw like trap and another until he was dead.
@8:43-10:16 Oh my god...this has to be the bleakest, most uncompromising, and soul-numbing account of existence that I've ever heard.
It was discovering this section that got me interested in Watchmen and confirmed Rorschach's place as one of my all-time favorite characters. I was genuinely depressed and teary-eyed after this. You know something is a work of art when it can do that to
Not to be a party pooper but this is one of my only complaints with Watchmen and Alan Moore's writing in general. Pretentious and excessively pessimistic and negative. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go cry in a corner because of the futility of existence and how we are just bugs on a mud ball floating in an endless void.
See Kids! Watch more comedians and listen to less emo music. Be happy!
On the other hand Chapter 6 is easily the best part of Watchmen precisely because of it's philosophy.
@GamerPony It's making a point, and showing multiple characters dealing with the same problem. Having a true understanding of the world and not lying to themselves. If you're a believer in the big bang and evolution without some all knowing, guiding mind. You may believe you are objective and see things as they are. But no matter what we all lie to ourselves just to be happy. We create illusions about reality just to be happy, which is the logical thing to do in my opinion->
@GamerPony <- But these are completely different characters (Rorschach, Ozymandias, Dr Manhattan and the Comedian) choosing to look past the illusions and see life for being pointless (unless we lie to ourselves and give it some sort of greater purpose) random and lacking an indefinite future. It will eventually end and everything will eventually everyone and everything will go back into "oblivion." Rorschach sees this and becomes a psychotic, pessimistic man who sees no hope for existence.
@GamerPony Comedian on the other hand, sees it and chooses to just live life by his own rules, to laugh about it's futility and set his own moral standards. Ozymandias finally sees past the illusion with Comedian's help and yet he chooses not to accept it, and as the genius narcissist he is, plans an ultimate solution to the world's problems. Which actually fails. (If you listen to the tv before Dr Manhattan goes to meet him the final time)->
@GamerPony It's an ingenious story, who cares if it's not all puppies and hugs? It's a realistic portrayal of superheroes. (Who are, of course, unrealistic.) Alan Moore wrote it and it helped him better accept the realization that things could end at any time. Even something so horrible can be accepted and lived with, without having to lie to yourself or create illusions about it. This is my interpretation though. Got carried away.
Funny, I'm the 9th person to like this video and the number 9 is my favorite number. But as Rorschach would say, I've been starring at this for too long.
Hope the new Rorschach stories are as dark as this with him getting his revenge on unthinkable grusome acts of crimes.

Rorschach did the right thing in killing that man. No jury would convict him.

Did anyone else realize that the doctor started talking like Rorshach?
