I had videotaped this movie when it was broadcast. When my older brother came home for a visit, I played it on the tv as a joke late at night while we were splitting a six pack. It worked too well because fifteen minutes into the movie he started to run upstairs to wake my parents up and I had to tackle him and tell him it was fake. Boy was he pissed at me although the next morning he couldn't stop laughing about it.

Of the three War Of The Worlds broadcasts that came out during this period, Without Warning was the worst of the lot.

Bloody Hell I remember watching this film over 12 years ago with my mum. Even though the graphics were terrible I thought what a film. So going to get the wife to watch this now. Yeah baby A++

The "anchorman" at the end of this clip used the same Shakespeare quote Ed Murrow used in a 1954 "See It Now" report about Senator Joseph McCarthy's tactics.
Murrow preceded the quote with the comment "This is not the time for critics of Senator McCarthy to remain silent, nor for those who approve......the actions of the junior senator from Wisconsin have caused concerns among some of our allies, and comfort to some of our enemies".
If they had used the White Materia and summoned Holy to start with they wouldn't have been trapped in "Sephiroth + Black Materia on TURBO DRUGS" now would they?
I remember this: worst show ever. I hear the actors started a class action lawsuit against their agents, settled out of court for 2 large Godfathers pizzas, extra cheese and a gallon of Dew.
I have it recorded from TV during it's first (only?) airing. Definitely not going to spend a lot to have it on DVD. It was okay, but there should have been no disclaimers or commercials (but that wouldn't have been possible, I guess). If it was done live somehow that would have been awesome.

I remember my girlfriend talk about this. She was trying to call her parents to tell them she loves them. Then she saw the credits roll and simply hung up the phone.
Wish I had a copy of it. I remember thinking it was real for a moment walking into my fathers room that night before seeing the disclaimers back then. I was surprised by the number of people that were fooled by it the next day. War of the Worlds type broadcast still can fool people.
haha i completely forgot about this film! just seen deep impact and it reminded me i think ill order this on dvd tonight as i havent seen it sinse sky box office many moons ago :D
Good role by Jane Kasmerek before Malcolm in the Middle. The guy starring into the radar screen at the end...wasn't he the admiral in the military justice series JAG?
I remember when i and my friend was young and had a lan party. We were the only one left and we decide to watch some tv and this movie was on. But we didnt realize that it was all a movie. We got scared, ran outside to watch the sky and back in to see whats happening on tv. We thought it was a bit strange that only one channel showed this. So i had a near end of the world experience once =). I just saw Deep Impact and remember this. Now i have to see this again. I doubt i get the same feeling.
I watched this movie a few years ago and it turned out to be very good. It transmits all the tension and stress of an imminent alien invasion in every minute of it. Definitely a great motion picture.
