My brother almost burned down my parents house this way, we had a bucket of citronella wax right next to the fireplace, my brother made a fire that burned so hot the wax caught fire. The wax fire continued to burn long after the fireplace died, so my brother thought'd be a good idea to put it out with water, he positioned a teakettle over the bucket to snuff it out and it spilled over leaking water into the fire, a column then shot up to the ceiling, burning for about a minute. Scary as crap.
