@CAM3RoN11 The Witch-King was not only the most fearsome evil in all Middle-Earth (I daresay, even moreso than Sauron himself), he was a very powerful necromancer and a tactical genius. The only reason he even died is because of Merry's barrowblade, otherwise Eowyn would never have won. Gandalf himself would've struggled even at his full might to defeat the Witch-King...do not belittle he who Sauron grants his power to. He IS the chief lieutenant of Mordor after all.

There are many events in the movie which did not exactly happen in the book.

To your question, I answer this... the reason he fights with Glamdring, his sword, and his staff, is because he didn't need to use the power he was given to slay a dozen orc. that power was to be save untill needed... like with the Balrog of Morgoth, and Saruman the Traitor because those enemies could only be defeated by magic in which Gandalf processes.
Ok...alright, Gandalf the Grey defeats the power of the Balrog of Morgoth, but Gandalf the freaking White gets his staff broken by a lesser servant of Saroun... even with Narya, the Elf Ring of Fire, Gandalf gets beaten by the Witch-King of Agmar who lost the War in the North! That makes me angry!
Thats why the scene was cut. Its completly non canon book and movie wise. The Witch King is powerful, but Gandalf is a Miara and as you said possess the Ring Of Fire.
@WulvPawz well, Battle for Helms Deep had lots of cuts to Fangorn Forest and that made it disappointing I would rather watch whole fight first but yeah Ents attacking on Isengard was important. But that would be also silly if Witch-King of Angmar would die at Battle for Helm's deep as he had no business to do with Saruman since Saruman wanted the Ring for himself. I think it is ok he died on battle for Pelenor Fields, lots of riders, Rohirrims are my favourites with their helmets and armour :)

let me clear this up for good, witch king and all nazgul = dead men who have a small amount of power. gandal = maiar, lesser god, immortal being who came from the "heaven" of lord of the rings. gandalf would destroy all the nazgul at once and then some with 1 hand behind his back, and his eyes blindfolded, and without a sword. Gandalf is infinitely stronger than the nazgul, but not as strong as sauron due to sauron gaining a ton more power through the posesion of the one ring. Done.

Witch King didn't know about the existence of such a weapon. A friend of mine told that in the books the hobbits who got the sword first had to pass a Man who was more powerfull than every Ainur (even more powerfull than Gandalf) in the area where the sword was held.

Merry stabbed the WK with a blade from Arnor, specifically forged for the ruin of Angmar. The blade undid the Witch Kings immortality, so when Eowyn thrust her sword into the Witch Kings face he no longer had that protection.
In the film he attacks Gandalf, and it looks as though Gandalf is inferior to the Witch King, but in the book, they are both about to confront each other. And of course the winner would have been obvious.
The Witch-King and Gandalf never fought on the books, Jackson found it interesting to alter the scenario a little and so he placed that small confrontation of them. He thought that having Witch-King break Gandalf's staff would be some sort of "karmic" justice because Gandalf broke Saruman's staff.
Most support that Gandalf is way more powerful than the Witch-King due to the fact that he is a Maia(lower tier gods) and not a mortal man. In my opinion Gandalf would probably win the Witch-King BUT with great difficulty, don't forget that W-K was a man, with the powers of his ring and his dark sorcery he would most certainly be a great adversary.
I believe that if Gandalf was given the choice to fight W-K or flee he would probably flee, so would the the Witch-King!!! As one of the greatest villains, W-K would probably try to take out Gandalf with the aid of his fellow Nazgul and not alone. Bad guys don't need to fight fare ;-) so why should he?
True, but it was Frodo who made the Nazgul flee, yelling the name of Elbereth Gilthoniel. I think Tolkien ment it was maybe Elbereth her self talking through Frodo's voice, because higher powers had to save him. Also that time there was only five of the Nazgul because Gandalf had fought all nine earlier. Gandalf fought hard but he was forced to flee in Rivendell and he got four of them after him and that's why there was only five against Aragorn and the hobbits.

Sorry, you're wrong :p Morgoth was a valar, Balrog was a demon created by Morgoth. Sauron was a Maiar. As well as Gandalf and Saruman.

I never quite understand how such powerfull character(is even able to figth off Gandalf!) is so easly beat I get that Merry had that special dagger that was the main cause for his "death" but even so...

That's just it... the sword of the westerness? forgot the exact name though, it was special forged against the Nazgul without the Nazgul knowing there was such weapon forged against them.
Witch King didn't know about the existence of such a weapon. A friend of mine told that in the books the hobbits who got the sword first had to pass a Man who was more powerfull than every Ainur (even more powerfull than Gandalf) in the area where the sword was held.

okay explain this. gandalf defeats a balrog and can break saruman's staff, and he even defeats aragorn, gimli and legolas although more in jest when he disarms them in Fangorn forest, BUT why later does he fight Orcs etc..with his sword and only kill 1 at a time??? Shouldn't he be able to shoot fireballs out of his staff and kill a dozen at a time..MAJOR plot hole to me in books and movie.

Merry stabbed the WK with a blade from Arnor, specifically forged for the ruin of Angmar. The blade undid the Witch Kings immortality, so when Eowyn thrust her sword into the Witch Kings face he no longer had that protection.

In the film he attacks Gandalf, and it looks as though Gandalf is inferior to the Witch King, but in the book, they are both about to confront each other. And of course the winner would have been obvious.

The Witch-King and Gandalf never fought on the books, Jackson found it interesting to alter the scenario a little and so he placed that small confrontation of them. He thought that having Witch-King break Gandalf's staff would be some sort of "karmic" justice because Gandalf broke Saruman's staff.

Most support that Gandalf is way more powerful than the Witch-King due to the fact that he is a Maia(lower tier gods) and not a mortal man. In my opinion Gandalf would probably win the Witch-King BUT with great difficulty, don't forget that W-K was a man, with the powers of his ring and his dark sorcery he would most certainly be a great adversary.

I believe that if Gandalf was given the choice to fight W-K or flee he would probably flee, so would the the Witch-King!!! As one of the greatest villains, W-K would probably try to take out Gandalf with the aid of his fellow Nazgul and not alone. Bad guys don't need to fight fare ;-) so why should he?

True, but it was Frodo who made the Nazgul flee, yelling the name of Elbereth Gilthoniel. I think Tolkien ment it was maybe Elbereth her self talking through Frodo's voice, because higher powers had to save him. Also that time there was only five of the Nazgul because Gandalf had fought all nine earlier. Gandalf fought hard but he was forced to flee in Rivendell and he got four of them after him and that's why there was only five against Aragorn and the hobbits.
