  • chcesz nagrobek ?! ci załatwię ! i jak ?? ładny zdychaj !

  • i jak masz już pewność ?!

  • nananananina koń rafał !

  • Good song. But it jusy feels kinda weak compared to Age of Winters. I just think it lacks a certain fullness is all.

  • Its like badass riff after badass riff after badass riff after badass riff after badass riff after badass riff.

  • Still the best Sword song

  • This is based on Beyond the Black River by Robert E. Howard. This why The Sword is so fucking legit.

  • I so want to larp to this.

  • Amazing instrumental, there vocals are kind of lame... They fit the music but it just seems kind of lack luster *shrug*

  • Go see these guys live. You will be happy with your decision.

  • FUCKING SWORD MAN!!!!! god i love this fucking shit... they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good,

Its like if metallica and slayer had a baby, then led zeppelin and black sabbath had a baby.... then if those two babies met and fucked.... it would be the sword

  • @ironm4id3n The product of baby fucking

  • @WiggieWomper well the sword IS only like 7 or 8 years old at this point :P

  • @ironm4id3n I get a lot of Danzig/Samhain in there too for the vocals....

  • Fucking Epic

  • They just got something unique. Good, old, heavy AND playable? Must've had some shit hot souls to sell

  • This song is one of their best. The lyrical content resonates on deep levels of the warrior spirit.

  • The only thing that let me down when I saw The Sword was that they didn't play this song :( at least they played 'Freya'

  • massive.

  • I remember this song it was so awesome!! And guess what??? It still is!!!

  • this song totally rocks! love this band!

  • Seen these guys a few years ago when they were opening for machine head and metallica. Was fucking awesome.

  • All other metal bands bow down and worship at the alter of The Sword!!! If my son ever asks me..."Dad...what is rock?"...I'll say..."Son...I can't tell you what rock is...but I can show you..." /Push play on How Heavy This Axe by The Sword/ F-ya!

  • The Black River huh?? They must be living on the Gulf Coast.....

  • @athiestsshallburn each band starts using as templates older bands and then they build their sound from there by filtering their influences...Lamb of God sound for instance draws a lot from Pantera, Pantera sound takes a lot from thrash metal...and so on..so where is the problem if some people do not enjoy the recent music or the last decade's music and want to go back and build on the sound of quite older bands? And obviously you do not fancy this sound thats why you only listen to Zeppelin

  • this is my shittt...

  • every time i hear this song my eyes turn black and i bleed sheer glory from every pore. an all knowing owl then appears to me and whispers the secrets of the universe, which turns me into a half-god from the farthest galaxy for roughly 40 minutes, so i go invert the souls of a few nazis in my glorified state before returning to my flat very hungry. i then eat a fishwich and watch law abiding citizen

  • @thegranitebison where do you get your weed from?

  • @Randomjoe216 haha, ive actually never done a single drug in my life. im just awesome.

  • @thegranitebison fair enough.

  • @thegranitebison Not before packing another bowl.

  • @Anticrombie918 lol. not done a single drug in my life. unless you count beer as a drug. then i do drugs all the time

  • @thegranitebison Yeah, me neither ;)

  • What an incredible band, influences from new and old, heavy has hell.

  • my favorite song from Sword

  • the sword is one of the greatest bands to come along in the past few years... harking back to the 70s greatness of metal...

  • "Uploaded: Jul 19, 2008"<--------

"The Sword - The Black River Playing at The Smartpunk Tour @ Hangar 84, Vineland on 03/30/11"<-----

    IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!

DID HE USE A TIME TRAVEL DEVICE?

  • 1:30 makes me headbang harder than anything I've ever heard. \,,/

  • @mee11mee I Agree \m/

  • @athiestsshallburn Yeah, why tell us something we already know? It's not like I'd react shocked, if some went up to my face, saying something I already know.

  • This is strickly my opinion so if you disagree be easy. I was just talking to my buddy the other day about why 80's "style" guitarists didn't exist today and it is a shame that talent is no longer "cool" by todays' standards. I DEFINATELY appreciate the sound!!!Of course this is coming from a guy that used to have "seek and destroy" played to him every night before he passed out in his crib lol.

  • @167hobby acctually autotune did bieber just contributed

  • @167hobby Bieber is pop for little girls i dont see why people try to bash him when its lame pop that wont last long anyways

  • @DeanCadillac14 totally agree with you!!!!

  • Our number is few.

  • Fucking awesome! Nice crunchy riffs \m/

  • 8 people couldnt cross the black river.

  • Sabbath rip off you say??

Well... I say we need more rip offs then, It's wayyyyy better than the shit people listen to nowadays...

  • @kaoticXIII I agree. i'd say it's more of tribute to sabbath.

  • Woah the riffage is pure win! I have this stupid grin on my face

  • Comment removed

  • They kinda remind me of mastodon in a way...

  • @KYgelly Yeah....But, y'know, BETTER!

  • this is really good

  • You are guys are really awesome but. Yah no. It's a Black Sabbath rip-off

  • @JakeTheNonConformist sorry but how is this a "rip-off"? :S

  • @JakeTheNonConformist Does sound old school, which is fine, the singing kinda reminds me of the doors.

  • @JakeTheNonConformist Not trying to start any arguements, but that is a bit like saying most 70's inspired Doom Metal bands are Black Sabbath rip-offs.

  • @JakeTheNonConformist

So you can say every metal band in the world is a Black Sabbath rip-off.

  • @ComradeOgly They aint?................

  • BEST SONG ON GODS OF THE EARTH!

  • This track is a real banger! Reminds me of the days of oldschool D&D.

  • You like this go check out SLEEP.. fuck high on fire

  • @jesuswasakike00 what's wrong with high on fire?

  • that just blew me away, i was listenin to goran edman and some johanssen, don't know how I ended up here, but wow xD

  • If I'm pissed at the world, I listen to this...It calms me down cause of the awesomeness. (...and no I'm not emotionally unstable, I think...)

  • The problem I have with The Sword is that they do a few bars of a fantastic retro type riff worthy of Sabbath etc., then do a few bars of "grungey chugga-chugga", and mix the two infuriatingly. They seem to do that on all their songs (that I've heard). Also, the vocals are a bit 2nd league. They're playing in my home town tomorrow, and I just can't decide if I should go. I've walked out of so many gigs this year!

  • @MrAttPatt so did you go?

  • 5:58 = worst part of video

0:00-5:57 = melted my face off

  • The riff at 3:41 and the following solo are just hands down sexy.

  • 1:05 eargasmic

  • The Sword is keeping the old school face melting metal alive! Keep Austin weird!

  • WE DO WHAT MUST BE DONE.

  • All this talk about Rap being shit, look Rap is stuff like Public Enemy, De la Soul, you know good stuff. Hip Hop on the other hand is crap like flo rida or Usher, this sucks. Along with pop like the x-factor stuff (and others who i won't mention buti think everyone will know what whiny white boy i'm talking about)

  • @Calum4291 i know people just dont seem to be open minded about rap, i got a shitload of guff for liking nu metal, like ratm linkin park hybrid theory ONLY, just stuff like that

  • @MrFitz219 i hear u there, i am of the opinion if u don'tlike something just ignore it. and u would not believe the amount of shit i get cos i don't really like Maiden and Priest

  • @rhandyrhodesidol meh we dont need your sucky opinion u should just shut the hell up and stay that way cause metal will live on FOREVER fredfredburgerchoc

  • @rhandyrhodesidol meh we dont need your sucky opinion u should just shut the fuck up and stay that way cause metal will live on FOREVER fredfredburgerchoc

  • WHat peril awaits us beyond the black river summoned by the beating of drums ?

  • RAA!!! METAL!!

  • i love the solo in this

  • the 7 dislikers must payyyyy......NOW!!!!!!

  • @angelica797 there mommies didnt love them enough

  • i love the sword!!!!!! such a badass gallop >=O

  • This is the first song by the sword that i really listened to... im really glad i did!

  • These guys are 1 of the most energetic bands I've seen live.

  • @EyeOnTheTv; It's not really ment as a metaphor, but rather taken from old mythologies... greek I think it was. This song is also insipred greatly by the Conan novel "The Black River"... you should read it ;)

Without doubt my fav song by the Sword... love it!

  • ohhh so this is why they went on tour with metallica 2 years ago well it was a great concert

  • Apparently WMG noticed that i had this uploaded, but they didnt take it down. THANK YOU \m/

  • @TheSwordCollection It was too rad for them to delete.

  • @TheSwordCollection

Thats awesome. But really, all its doing is promoting the music and The Sword. So sad to hear of the loss of the drummer. Fingers crossed they find a good one soon.

  • @TheSwordCollection WMG must have been like, "let's take this one do- naah.. its too awesome"

  • @TheSwordCollection because they think this is too epic for them :D

  • GUITAR HERO METALLICA!

  • The Sword is 1/3 Iron Maiden, 1/3 Black Sabbath, 1/3 Judas Priest. That's why they're so fucking awesome.

  • @corr14 it's more like 2/3 black sabbath and 1/3 maiden+priest.

  • @diooib or how about 1/1 the sword?

  • Epic band name, epic guitarists, epic songs, The Black River is their best song, just ahead of Freya and Maiden, Mother, & Crone (Y)

  • almost sounds likes Sabbath

  • How is this doom metal?

  • @Maxpow33r I had the same problem. I think what it means is that since they sound alot like sabbath, they are doom metal in the same sense that sabbath or even sleep is.

  • Fukin Austin Live Music scene CANT beat it!!!!!!!!

  • @6Pimptress9 I found out too late to go to ACL and I really hate it. Would have loved to see them. I missed Lamb of God in San Antonio as well because of a trip out of state. However, got tickets to Megadeath in September.

  • best Sword song imo

  • nice work

  • @ryanpower5 and i mean best work

  • lead guitar 9 .rythum guitar 9 ,bass guitar 9 , drums 10 , lyrics 5 ,vocals 2

  • @eelabob Every instrument is very clearly a 10/10, and vocals is icing on the cake.

  • why are there no tabs to teach the intro? i've had to learn by ear which can be a bitch!

  • They are going to play in Austin around October, I will do my best to go see them.

  • This is a bad ass song. I was thrashing around my room, and my dog was like "What the hell are you doing". Then oddly enough, he started scratching his head, and it looked like he was rockin with me lol

  • good to hear some heavy shit where they aren't trying to sound like cookie monster man these guys got the riff!

  • kick ass motherfucking song, all I need to say

  • Too much anal.....yzing !! This is some good shet!!

As Dimebag always said......."Take ya a pull"

  • This is the shit. I first heard of this song from a video game "Metallica Guitar Hero." I could not believe I had never heard this before. I would love to be in this band.

  • @athiestsshallburn I can completely agree with you there. Let us stop living in the past. Make something new that takes influence from the greats of the past, but imitation is not the way.

  • @athiestsshallburn funny, because they are alot better than most of the bands that have started now.

  • Fuck yeah.

  • @athiestsshallburn so you DON'T want to bands like wolfmother and the sword, etc., bring an era of rock the likes of which has not been seen since the days of Zeppelin and Sabbath

  • Why can't all music be this fucking sick?

    RETRO-ROCK MOVEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @flameburst45 Thank you, sir. But this is retro metal.

  • @hitohikami777 I kinda lumped it all together. But yeah, this is metal at it's finest.

  • ...my ass! ...the music has just handed it to me!

  • i like the part from 0:00-5:58

  • rocK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they rock

  • this song is pure TITS

  • 5 people missed the thumbs up button

  • y like this fuckin doom metal, makes me headbanging all day

  • mmmhhmm I reckon its purdy good

  • sword is 50X's better than metallica ever thought about being

  • these guys havent gotten nearly enough recognition for how B A D A S S they are

  • @martincole438 Which is probably for the better, otherwise they'd probably sell out and end up like *GASP* NEW-AGE METALLICA! GOD FUCKING FORBID! I think its good that only the true fans of The Sword appreciate their talent.

  • The Sword rulez.

  • i love it when you can tell by a bands music that theyre sabbath fans

  • WARP RIDERS AUG24!!!!!

  • at 1:30 !!! I love that RIFF!!! awesome to headbanging!!! I love to play this one on GH MetallicA

  • it's a shame this dosnt have at least 1 million views because it so deserves it. Oh well people dont know what they are missing out on

  • @scatman813 dude, mass popularity is the worst thing ever happened to music

  • I've seen The Sword twice. First time two years ago almost opening for Metallica and then second time tonight at the Norman Music Festival in Norman, Oklahoma. They were followed by Electric Six... what a fucking juxtaposition. The Sword blew every group away tonight. I was surprised they weren't headlining.

  • Yeah!

  • The Sword and IronMaiden openned up for Metallica at a concert in Dec 08 that I went to with my freind and his dad!

  • @Raigeki135..Me too..haha

  • I saw these guys open for Motorhead in Austin at Stubbs. They were pretty good, but Motorhead blew them off the map after their performance.

  • The Sword and Down opened for Metallica at the show i went to in Kc back in 08 i think. I wish i knew more about them back then haha they played this song, badass.

  • @buncer00200 i saw them on that same tour but it was the sword, machine head, and metallica

  • @SlyDevil13 i saw metallica, the sword, and down.

  • i love at 1:30 i always just headbang. its awesome!

  • how am i supposed to get all this jizz off the screen?

  • I wanna become a viking and worship Odin.......wile listening to The Sword!

  • nice song!

  • brothers and sister together we can bring rock back we are the revalution! look at the facts rap is slowly dieing off im ready for a change how about you? o btw dont fucking spam me lol im being 4 realz add me if your down for a change and let everyone fucking know

  • @fredfredburgerchoc agreed! Rock n Roll Resurrection

  • @fredfredburgerchoc You make all sword fans look stupid.

  • @fredfredburgerchoc I'll be part of your "revalution" when you learn how to spell it right.

  • @fredfredburgerchoc I think rap is finnaly dieing off. my daughter was a die hard rap fan. she gradully shifted to rock and only likes a few rap songs.Im 44 ive never liked it.I don't even like it when rockers dabble in it

  • Oh this song just fucking kills me. Beautiful battle charge. Today is a good day to die! Hoka Hey! Crazy Horse in another time.

The Sword have distilled so much from the good metal. They are their own band and have earned their keep.

  • I just saw these guys open up for Motorhead in Austin at the SXSW Fest... They kicked ass... I had never heard of them before.

  • These guys give me so much inspiration on the guitar. Gotta love em. This still pic doesnt do them justice, the just seem like a band that you have to see live or something! Truly are amazing right hear man. Listening to these guys make me wanna pic up the guitar and jam off into my own little world where it feels so good as pure bliss washes over me because its what i love. These riffs are absolute perfect! The Sword is definitely one of my top 10 bands! PeAcE>

  • @BLOODandaINTESTINElie:

    Damn straight.

  • best song from the sword imo! :D Awesome!

  • id like to see them upgrade to mustard seed

  • I really like the last lines in this song which happen to be the last words on the album "Gods of the Earth":

    Please take a brief moment

    To answer this question

As the ferry approaches the shore

    Do you have the coin

    to pay for your passage

or the courage to take up the oar?

I feel this is a great metaphor for life and taking charge of your own destiny.

To paraphrase: Can you really afford to sit back and do nothing or are you going to take charge to go places and do something?

  • @EyeOnTheTV wtf? shut up.

  • @EyeOnTheTV Actually this philosophy is taken from the inspiration for much of The Sword's work: Conan of Cimmeria.

  • @vashani

Which probably means the same thing.

  • @EyeOnTheTV

That's an interesting interpretation considering it's an allusion to the River Styx where the dead must provide a coin to Charon to pass into Hades. Hard to live your life to the fullest when you're dead.

  • @LivesUnderABridge Hmm.. perhaps what Cronrise wrote in this song is his own interpretation of that story.

  • @EyeOnTheTV i think it means in greek mythology that the ferry man will bring u acrosse the lake/river to the underworld if you have 2 gold coins but if u dont he leaves u there to rot, but if u have the courage to take up the oar that u refuse to die.

  • @EyeOnTheTV Im not really sure about the accuracy of your theory... The "ferry" is referencing the ferry that carries souls across the river Styx in Greek mythology... The coins are payment to Charon, the Ferryman of Hades, to cross the river

  • @crazeroker911 yeah I get it but how is that story not also a metaphor? Why should anything only ever have one meaning?

  • @EyeOnTheTV its not a metaphor, its about dieing and crossing the Black River... aka the River Styx, to get into the netherworld. read all the lyrics. if you research mythology, which is what all their songs are about, when you go to cross the river, you either pay your way, or paddle yourself, thats the price to pay.

  • @333alakazam yeah I get it but how is that story not also a metaphor? Why should anything only ever have one meaning?

  • @EyeOnTheTV

I'm willing to bet that it's just an allusion to the ferryman of the river styx from Greek mythology and you are reading into it too much.

    @ Others

    "omg this isn't doom metal"

Shut up, it is what it is. Who gives a shit what you feel a need to label it within your coven of metal-obsessed retardation.

  • @KaiserinKayz *sigh* yeah i know. and how is that story not also a metaphor?

  • @EyeOnTheTV

I agree completely and also about your name...because tragedy thrills me ;D
