man, chinchillas have got to be the best pet ever. we had one that recently died at 5 years of age by some strange sickness. poor little bugger. i could scratch him under the neck like a cat. people may say those little critters are dumb, but he was smart. way actually trained him a little. we also got a second one who bit a little, but he was starting to warm up to us.lol. unfortunatly, he ran away.
yeah, this class of critter is pretty irresistible. chinchillas are actually in the same genus as guinea pigs (hystricomorphs), though my quick search on the term just now usually sees them referred to in scientific literature as "hystricomorph rodents". *shrug*

Wow, our chinchillas should hang out sometime because my chinchilla always comes out when I play guitar. He loves to sit and listen, but for some reason he doesn't like D minor either.
i hope my chinchilla will play guitar with me, too! i am getting him on tuesday and i really can't wait. and about minor chords: the dissonance probably feels funny to him, as it should. i love the way they sound but you can definitely tell when the frequencies are bouncing off eachother like that. maybe he's just more sensitive to it! very cute
chinchillas tend to be very individual in how they behave. loki seems to love the guitar; his mom ignores it completely. i hope you have fun figuring out what your chinnie likes and that you get many enjoyable years together!
