@emtntny1 It's hurts like a bitch! As the days go by it'll get little better, but when eating... It's horrid! Make sure you have some soft stuff :) Also, certain things, you wont be able to taste very well, mainly the harder things.

@bluesky7070 No, you would have to get two different palate expanders for the upper and lower jaw.

Probably, the only reason you'd need both is because there isn't enough room for the teeth to straighten completely.

@piggy68921 yes food does get stuck n it. but u can use ur tounge 2 get it out or goggle some mouth wash or water. i got my palate expander in feburary and im done turning mine and get my expander off in june ;)

mine didn't work. i'm almost 14 and i have the bone structure of like a 20 year old. in a month, i need to get a surgery called SARPE (surgically assisted rapid palate expansion) WHOOP DEE DOO.

and what the expander does, like you wear it until you have enough space for all your teeth. and the braces close the front gap.

Does the use of palate expander result in changing the shape of the Lower jaw into a nicer "U" shape ( in addition to increasing the space of upper jaw)? or do I need another expander for the Lower Jaw? Thanks!

U only get an expander for your upper jaw becuase its not normal to have a lower jaw to be more wider than the upper

1. It hurts to put it on.

And it hurts for like 5 minutes after you turn it.

I'm a wimp though, so the pain will vary. :]

oh my gosh this hurts! every time i activate it, it feels like my mouth is going to crack in two! I can't wait for that thing in my mouth to open so it won't hurt when i do. and its impossible to eat with it! it took me, like, half an hour to eat a bowl of food that normally takes 20 seconds to eat!
