I didn't see M. Stewart's comments as a put down of R. Ray at all. Her comments were an honest answer to an honest question. I love them both for who they each are...keeping that they are in different ballparks from the other. No problem.

Some of my favorite dishes are from Rachael Ray recipes but I have tried Martha's recipes but never remade any of them. RR's recipes are made 2 or 3 times a monthat my house. I also have a few of her products and she has a flare that Martha could never match. I like Rachael's personality better too! He asked how she was able to make her budget work and got one of the servers to admit (and it wasn't easy or staged) that R.R. left LOUSY tips.
Martha is right, Rachael is more of an entertainer than she is a cook and as an entertainer, she's very annoying. Why put out a new cookbook with old recipes? I enjoy Martha - her pursuit of perfection, her enjoyment of quality, her airs, etc. However, I respect Rachel's class. This is not the first time she's been insulted by a popular personality in the food world, but she still keeps her dignity about her.

Stewart didn't say Ray is not a good person or bubbly or generous. Stewart spoke the simple, calm truth about Ray's skills and knowledge and Ray agreed. Stewart has a different goal when writing a cook book. So what? You people are too sensitive to honest criticism of Ray.

I love both Martha stewart and Rachel Ray. What one has to remember is that Martha is more of a perfectionist. What she said is the truth. Rachel ray is not a chef she does not have formal training and she is definately not a baker (she said so herself). Keep an eye out on the Biography channel. They made an episode on Rachel Ray. It's very interesting. So please people do not turn this into a who is better war...They are both great in their own right. :)

What Martha said was correct. RR's Book of 10 is a rehashing of her old recipes AND Martha is right RR herself professed she doesn't bake. I do not see what is wrong w/ Martha's comments.

I'm not saying I am a fan of Martha, so don't take it that way, but- she was paraphrasing Rachel, who herself doesn't claim to be a great cook and is more of an entertainer. She's really kind of a hack, and also not always the darling she claims to be. Anthony Bourdain visited one of the restaurants R.R. went to on $40/day. He asked how she was able to make her budget work and got one of the servers to admit (and it wasn't easy or staged) that R.R. left LOUSY tips.

Martha is right, Rachael is more of an entertainer than she is a cook and as an entertainer, she's very annoying. Why put out a new cookbook with old recipes? Or put out a pots/pans line when the world has enough pots and pans already. Rachael Ray just seems money hungry and desperate for attention. Martha has more of a passion for what she does, and she said it right.

This is so right. Martha must be failing since she seems to spend all of her time degrading women. Rachel is much more fun to watch and a lot less catty. What a disappointment to many of Martha's fans & my bet is that she will loose many. I certainly won't bother to watch her again, less alone buy her magazine/products.
