thats why i stopped following gravel, he is sympathetic to the united nations and world government, carbon tax, etc. and even though at first glance, those seem to be good ideas but they fall short of the mark. come on, people don't need world government to make things happen, we don't need drastic moves like a carbon tax to get off of foreign oil.
Foreign policy should be easy, everyone wants peace and prosperity. If we would have been working on these goals 40 years ago we might have a decent society today.
Had it not been for the US bombing Cambodia two years before the beginning of the Vietnam war Pol Pot would never have 'killed' so many people. The US created the massacre and they are directly responsible for the deaths of the millions in Cambodia. The US haven't done anything right in the past century other than plunder, murder and create suffering so, bunk, you are right BURN IN HELL USA!!!
If the military industrial complex weren't selling arms to every tom dick & harry... we wouldn't need a 'policeman of the world'!
Regulate the arms trade.. regulate the banks... regulate the global corporations!
We could replace the militarism with a space exploration & mining industrial complex.
The UN is the obvious choice for overseer in disputes.. but as he said.. it needs major reform to ensure every nation gets a fair shout & to ensure that PEOPLE matter more than politics.
NOBODY! Sovereign nations are important. Respect each other, peace on earth. If someone has a problem/threat/attack then that country being affected should take action and possible ask for help.
I bet you someone from the 13 colonies back in the 1700s said the same thing: We do not need a Federal Government since the state governments were doing just fine.
I'm partly surprised by Mike Gravel's assessment of Palin. He considers her intelligent?

Man, this Senator truly should have been the next president :(
I know why young people latched onto him, it's because he's smart, and he's right!
He represents the way most Americans are. He is like having your lovable grandfather as president.
PLease, Please don't stop running for president of the United States! Run again in 4 years. Please.
This man would reshape the world into a better place if he only had that kind of power.
I am not a huge fan of Libertarianism, but I like smart leaders.

If the countries are citizens of the world, who should be the police?

NOBODY! Sovereign nations are important. Respect each other, peace on earth. If someone has a problem/threat/attack then that country being affected should take action and possible ask for help.

And who will this country ask?
mengwise36 3 years ago
whoever they want
Organjic 3 years ago
But if that whoever is the UN, you are against it, right?
mengwise36 3 years ago
The UN, is many countries voting on allowing 1 or many countries to do something, so no. UN = World Government, which we do not need.

We need a federal government.
Organjic 3 years ago
That is what you say now. That was not the case 250 years ago. In 250 years, people might think UN is necessary.
The point is, those who refused to have a federal government 250 years ago are proved wrong. What makes you think you are right?
