  • i wish i could learn how to do all this. all i can do is a basic step :/

  • I love how even though it's a man's dance, Michael make Leann do all the drops. lol

  • Great performances. I especially liked the second couple.

  • If you know all that your a pretty well rounded shagger.

But you are right it is more of a male dance. where to me wcs is more of a ladies dance. The two are slowly lending dance steps to one another and forming a new dance some might call SWAG. From what Im told the guys used to try to impress the ladies by doing wild dance moves back in the day to get their attention and make them want to dance with them.

A mateing ritual if you will :)

  • I am a shagger. And in actuallity most of the together steps you do someone else isnt going to know them. There are only a few steps in shag that basically make up the shag in which everyone who shags should be familiar with. Those being the basic, turns, the trail, pivot. Other trade marks which can be done together mirrored in a social setting or done alone are the duck walk, boogie walk, hooks, leans, kickbacks. And the one step prety much a mirror patter every shagger knows is the sugar foot.

  • I've only SEEN Shag, never danced it, but I would imagine that some of the "prememorized" moves are more like Lindy Hop or EC Swing, where standardized amalgamations are taught and most dancers recognize them. Couples could also have signature moves that they could dance alot. I think the main thing about Shag is that it does highlight the leads footwork more than the follows.

  • Very nice and elegant. So in shag they integrate there prememorized stanzas of shadow-moves, for like 16 to 32 counts or more? Man does a lot more showoff stuff, not as much showcasing the lady...that's very different than improv WCS. Very pleasant to watch but because you can tell there's so much background planning it seems a little less exciting than on-the-fly improvisational WCS.
