And just recently we had an incident up in Baltimore were the teacher was cast off, and nothing happened to the students. Got Parenting? I hope Barack speaks more about this. Obama 2008!
You see.... Sen. Obama shows his values and says so many good things that are just accurate and common sense-fully correct, that shows the people how great a president he would be. But rather than playing videos like this, people just want to focus themselves, and confuse themselves, and others incessantly about snippets of certain videos and sound bytes so as to confuse; twist words, undermine, discredit. There isn't much to attack him on except to only undermine him. Please let's change!
if he isnt nominated, most democrats will become republicans and we'll have the troubled McCain as prez - he's nice, but he doesnt understand that we dont want 4 more years of Bush
This is one of the reasons why I like Obama - he tells it like it is - he tells the people things they don't necessarily want to hear, but things that are true.
Are you kidding me? He tells them exactly what they want to hear. No doubt, he is a great speaker and that's part of the reason why he can get the crowds. His methods are all wrong, though. If he wants teacher's to get paid more, then how about doing something to Carroll Thomas' salary and use that "bonus" money to pay the teachers. Problem solved. Don't take any more money out of our pockets.
i don't understand how the clinton campaign makes it seem like obama is all about speeches and no solutions. have they watched this video? he's clearly offering solutions to a better education system, even offering much need parenting advice! do you have any idea how many "parents" i see in the new york subways dropping f-bombs in front of their kids, having them have sony psps when they're 5 years old and slapping them around for just doing what kids do?
He changes the whole way i look at polotics. Obama is a fresh of breath air and a reasuring feeling that our country is in good hands. Just listen to him!
This man is so amazing, he got the media hatin off him. He speaks the truth and knows how badly we need change, and he's exactly what the we need to undo Bush's wrong doing.
This stuff was here long before Bush (He's repeatedly stressed that point). In all our communities, we need to hear this. I'm sure folks will be saying, "You can't tell us what to do our how to raise our kids!" LOL, just look at the discipline problems in our schools today. Anyway, Obama 2008/2012!!!
Yes, he will. At least better than Clinton having to stand up with McCain. All surveys and polls suggest that Obama has a much better chance beating McCain than Clinton does, because he attracts a whole array of people, even Independents and Republicans who wouldn't vote for Clinton no matter what. That's why the GOP are scrambling and want Clinton to get the nomination. She's much easier to beat.
This is what we need. Barack will be able to tell Black America what they need to hear. Jesse and Al are afraid to do it. Bill Cosby was condemned for doing it. It's time for some REAL Black leadership.
I'm a 40yr old Black male from Los Angeles California. This past Sunday I was at work when I seen a gentleman that speaks to me every morning passing by my job. He normally stops and says hello, but on this day he didn't stop. I notice he was walking with a horrible limp, so I ran out my job and asked him what happened, he told me he had a stroke Thursday. His left side is partially paralyzed, he could not move his hand and he just swings his leg to walk.
Utterly Fantastic. Intelligence, wit, honesty and common sense. Obama is such great news for America. He already has the international community's support, now its time for America to vote for real change with Obama. Vote for a brighter future, not a murky past. Go Barack!
Obama's healthcare plan, only covers children. Most children are already covered. So where is the change? I have not been to the doctor in four years. Obama will not change that. Hillary MOST DEFINITELY WILL!!!!!!
I apologize for that stupid comment I just made.I was wrong and was racist.I told my son,who totaly loves Obama,if we have an black man as president, then maybe color won't be an issue anymore. If we have a female for president, maybe men won't be such s.o.b.'s to women.Yes, Amen,Todah Rabah Obama.
Good for you penny. Look at his face at 4:39-4:45 He is clearly being both ironic and slightly self depricating. That is change too! A leader with irony and a sense of history. I AM LEAVING TO VOTE FOR OUR NEXT PRESIDENT IN THE OHIO DEMORCRATIC PRIMARY. OBAMA 08
some people correlate charisma to dictators and that may be true but obama has a sense of fun, whimsy, and a sense of humor while making important points. in this one in particular, he does this brilliant thing of making his points seem like common sense (which they are). it's about what WE can do for the country as well as what HE can do as well.
whatever experience mr. obama has or not, i embrace his common sense when it comes to education and parenting. let's face it, none of us can say for sure who is as competent as they're supposed to be on day 1 of the presidency. as of now, i'll take a chance on obama.
Make sure you let Barack Obama know Canadians want free trade just as much as Americans want Iraq, regardless of what John McCain is telling the American sheep.
Interestingly the final portion of this video is direct proof as to why this man needs to be in power. Like all great leaders (JFK, Mandela, FDR, Gandhi) he realizes that the power of government is limited, while the power of the individual is limitless.
Vote Obama!!! It can be a start at ending the Special Interest influence over OUR COUNTRY! WE THE PEOPLE will stand together and peacefully take OUR COUNTRY back!
Barack Obama isn't just talk - he walks the walk by not taking special interest money, and by speaking the truth even when the people listening may not want to hear it. Look at this audience - we're hungry for the truth, and we're sick of the criminal lies and self-serving deceptions of the last decade. Obama is our best hope for a renewed America.
thats right. its about time the teachers got a raise. lawyers have been getting them for way too long. if you look at the two systems, ours is much better. we score better in math, history, etc.
YES!!! And this is why he will win...because he's not your standard "politician", and because you can tell he genuinely cares about this country's well being, as the only thing "corrupt" Hilary cares about is winning and MORE fancy dinners in the White House. He's got THIS republicans vote!!!
thank god he's hitting that "parenting is important" point. the republican's used to own that point, but, like environmentalism, it should be said by both parties. Hopefully it will give him some cross-over appeal. Go Obama!
Really u want this man to be your president. He tells a crowd of people to be a parent, and not talking about the big issues that concern our nation, and how to solve them. All hes saying is what the people want to hear. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Geeze, I'm sick of these feel-good non-specific generalities! Schools are becoming touchy-feely while scores continue to plummet. The only specifics he gives are for parents on how to properly raise kids. Is he really saying he can legislate child rearing? Please.... At least give us some hard specifics on what you plan to do...
I wish he would address the problem of school administrators - teachers get the blame too often, usually when incompetent admins are the problem. Also, I still support performance based pay, and pay based on difficulty. A teacher in a urban district should get paid more bonuses for doing well compared to wealthier school were teaching is easier. I know, easier said than done.
Yah. Kennedy inspired us too. All the way to Viet Nam.
This man is greatly mistaken on several points, and correct on others. (1) We DO test at the beginning of the year to measure student skills. (2) We're overburdened with prof development. Let us use those hours DOING OUR JOB. (3) If testing is punishment, and it shows we don't care about the arts because we don't test on the arts, then by your logic, you would test and thereby "punish" for learning the arts. PROOFREAD your points, Sir!
if you want to know all of barack obamas' accomplishments in the US senate and the state senate, email me and I will show you how great this man is. I love Obama
Obama 08!!!! I hope he makes Oprah his vice president!!!
That's y americans have to vote for Obama. He speaks all but the truth. He is the man America needs to change and to vote out this catastrophic Bush Administration.
Parents are afraid they will end up in jail if they do not spare the rod. Yep, I'm talking about the good old fashioned ass whipping. My statement to the government: You can't have your cake and eat it to. Don't preach one thing while doing the opposite. Time outs just do not work with all kids. Taking away video game time does not work with all kids. If the government will just stay the hell out of peoples lives and let them raise their own children the way they see fit then all will be well.
you know as a person that doeastn live in the UK i feel close to obama he seems honest and more importantly he seems like a good person that can help the world to become a more peaceful as youre present president couldnt have tried any harder to make it worst and spread negative image of USA to the whole world...
WOW,Obama is a great American Leader, his words speak true patriotism and love for his country. " Parents and Teachers " out to be proud of him and put him in the White House, since they are a major electorate in America. He understands that "Parents" and "Teachers" are the true "Agents of Change" for the future of today's young americans, our tommorow's leaders! Well done Sen. Barack OBAMA ...
He spread out charm, intellect, humor, truth and the right standing in the most issues. That's "Open Source Politics" ;-) Like the Linux founder, this man has the faith in the future. And he's not only a good speaker, also he has the force to give you Americans the respect back, you lost in the world the last years. The World is in hope for him. Free you mind and think beyond one's own nose. And don't forget, he wants you to work hard for this vision. He is the We-Obama not the I'm-Clinton.
It would be great if people could be signing up to volunteer to visit old people or lsiten to kids read in school at these amazing meetings. I watch these Obama speeches from London (yep, even the Brits love 'im!) and want to DO something more to change our world. Yes,indeed we can.
While I certainly think the very things Obama spoke of should be at the state rather than federal levels, when it comes to parenting, Obama was saying something I agree with. parents need to be active parents.
Won't it be grand in January when the bully pulpit loses its current "bully" and this wonderful man and his wife stand in the White House as national symbols of common sense, personal responsibility and intelligent vision?
A president necessarily has limited power in our system, but a president can still dramatically change the mood of the country just like a teacher can change the mood of a classroom - by combining effective leadership with high expectations. Loved this speech!
Who will do a lot, then? Do you believe all campaign rhetoric? I'm not voting for Obama because of the "promises of action". I vote for him because he has INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and HUMILITY written all over him.
You most definitely don't get that with any other candidate.
I am born in Poland, grow up in Sweden and live in Australia. I have never been in USA. But I do really care about this! I believe in Obama as a new icon, a new JFK, a new president with new chaning ideas! Obama will change USA, and USA will change the world!
His ideas are right. His perceptions educated, sensible and American. He embraces the "liberal" concepts of democracy, opportunity and American government and the "conservative" values of personal responsibility, security and frugality.
Conservatives: listen at 3:20 to the challenges to our American Community. Barack is the man to bring us together.
If Obama will acknowledge the almost 20% of Americans who are agnostic, atheist, closet atheists, or have no religious preference, he will get my vote. World peace requires an end to delusional beliefs in supreme beings, who entice us with fictitious promises of a post life heaven and threats of hell. If we all spend less time praying and hoping and more time thinking and doing for each other, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.
I haven't heard alot of good things about obama but the i saw this video on the recent watched videos and I and I watched it and I agree alot of what he's saying. not that it really matter cause I'm Canadian
I have been teaching for over 20 years. This is the FIRST time I have ever heard a leader of this country who GETS IT! Amen! Vote! Vote! Ba-rock the vote!
I was totally there c:

Parents!!!!
I love Obama for speaking the truth! Parents need to pitch in to help out with our educational systems. writing checks alone will not help much.

Be careful what you wish for..He is going to bring back the draft!! Can you say WELCOME TO THE ARMY?
sugardreams1 3 years ago

Yes,indeed we can.
hstirrup 3 years ago
While I certainly think the very things Obama spoke of should be at the state rather than federal levels, when it comes to parenting, Obama was saying something I agree with. parents need to be active parents.

Won't it be grand in January when the bully pulpit loses its current "bully" and this wonderful man and his wife stand in the White House as national symbols of common sense, personal responsibility and intelligent vision?
A president necessarily has limited power in our system, but a president can still dramatically change the mood of the country just like a teacher can change the mood of a classroom - by combining effective leadership with high expectations. Loved this speech!

Obama says a lot, but will he do a lot?
peepnklown 3 years ago
That's too much of a rhetorical question, isn't it?
Firecrawler09 3 years ago
Who will do a lot, then? Do you believe all campaign rhetoric? I'm not voting for Obama because of the "promises of action". I vote for him because he has INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and HUMILITY written all over him.
You most definitely don't get that with any other candidate.

I am born in Poland, grow up in Sweden and live in Australia. I have never been in USA. But I do really care about this! I believe in Obama as a new icon, a new JFK, a new president with new chaning ideas! Obama will change USA, and USA will change the world!
Me6is 3 years ago
His ideas are right. His perceptions educated, sensible and American. He embraces the "liberal" concepts of democracy, opportunity and American government and the "conservative" values of personal responsibility, security and frugality.
Conservatives: listen at 3:20 to the challenges to our American Community. Barack is the man to bring us together.
He knows what we've got to do. Amen.
