@PankrationWarrior Karo lost the fight because he's bad at judo. You can't make that one guy be the only example of judo in mma. Have a look at hiromitsu miura, megumi fujii, or rhadi ferguson. All of them killers, and all of them based in judo.

Judo emphasizes the ability of withstanding any opponent (large/small). Judo teaches you to stand and defend yourself against 1 or multiple opponents. Judo teaches you to take your opponent down without you getting hurt. If the fight goes to the ground, Judo players know what to do there as well. So why does it suck?

@RagingDemon89 I don't know about it being "Last" on the list of "effective" Grappling now. I think that's a bit of an overstatement on your part. I doubt Judo is the LEAST EFFECTIVE grappling art. I did Judo for years and some wrestling in high school and now i am a BJJ practitioner and i know for a fact that Judo is very, very effective, not to mention the fact that you do have many submission in Judo and some ground work too.

That is the way YOU feel about Judo. Just because YOU don't find it effective, doesn't mean it's not effective. There are many, and i mean many, MMA fighters who use Judo very, very effectively in real fighting situations.

hes applied this against good wrestlers, he wrestled in college. of course most judo guys aren't great sprawlers, and its more greco except you can attack the legs.

In Judo rules (the way I've been instructed and how I've come to understand it) you can't attack the legs and just stay there, the movement has to flow (as with all their techniques). In other words, if you're going to attack the legs, you better take him down or slam the guy.
