  • You allowed Mephiston to join a unit. He doesn't have the independent character special rule, and thus cannot join squads.

  • The ruling on the Drop pod into difficult terrain is correct: however, if the dreadnaught rolls a 1 when getting out, he dies I believe. This is because It functions like a dreadnaught getting out of a storm raven when it explodes. if it is immobilized by the glancing hit, they it can not deploy and is destroyed. (Blood angels FaQ page 2, Right column, middle of the page)

  • @evilmadival Also, Why for the love of god did you mix the only long range shooting necrons have with the anti tank character? Just take a regular barge lord tooled out and laugh over something useful. Also, throw those crypteks/characters into squads. Hell, throw the chronometron into the lychguard and use the reroll a phase to save one of those guys. Dude pays for himself the first save. Also, orb guys over 30 points. lychguard with orb rock. Anihilation barges work, just not against marines

  • Inertial Guidance System:

    "Should a Drop Pod scatter on top of IMPASSABLE terrain or another model (friend or foe!) then reduce the scatter distance by the minimum required in order to avoid the obstacle."

    Basically, drop pods CAN land in difficult/dangerous terrain, they only get to use the Inertial Guidance System if they land on models or impassable terrain.

  • @Jstncloud Thumbs for this might be good, it is kind of important to know since it is done incorrectly in the video and might spark incorrect play from players who are not familiar with the rule.

  • @mrcool9191 No. If Mephiston is taken in another squad, he counts as that squad. Which is what mwg Dave seems to have done. He's an independent character, and, as normal, joining a squad means ONE UNIT.

  • @keymaster013 cant join squads if ur not an independent character noob, thus they are seperate squads. read BA codex, and if ur still confused check the BA FAQ. next time get some facts before you decide to share your "knowlage" or lack thereof.

  • @keymaster013 meh, there are a few of them, the sanguinator and death company tyco come to mind, prety much coz these units are way to OP to be kept in safe lil squads, one of the few balencing points in the whole codex lol. Soz for calling you a noob, I was clearly wrong. <--Take the last sentance as sarcasum if you pleese good sir, I bid you a good day hope all of your dreams and wishes come true. Civilised enough for you?

  • @mrcool9191 Lol sure. And I know the independent character thing balances the codex out. But, as Matt Ward's philosophy seems to be, why not go all out?

    I really think Matt Ward needs to be kicked off whatever team it is that writes these rules.

  • @keymaster013 Why dose everyone hate on mat ward? I get it, he wrote the SM codex filled with ultramarine fluff and made the BA codex op, but i dont think that games workshop worry about balancing all that much, take a look at new necrons- or space wolves; all their standard marines have counter attack but cost 15 points- cheaper than vanilla marines (although it may have been him who wrote codex spacewolves, not realy sure) how would you have done it diferently?

  • @mrcool9191 I wouldn't have made Death Company relentless, for one thing. My 10 man squad is relentless with bolters and has the same close-combat capabilities as a full 10 man assault squad. I wouldn't have made Mephiston as epic, or at least given him an invul save so he cant be one-rounded by a 85 point model with an insta-killing weapon. I think, in retrospect, just downgrading Mephy would have been fine. And as for the marines. They should be 1 or 2 points more expensive.

  • @keymaster013 i disagree, i think that by not giving mephiston an invon it alows players to counter more effectivly, also death company have a nerfed bs so why would u want to make them shooty, also sternguard vets have the same stats as a assult marine and they are genuenly shooty, so 25 points with epic amo or 20 points for uncontrolable troops whith crappyer that normal shooting and they r prety much comperable in close combat. But who fields shooty DC anyway?

  • @mrcool9191 Well. Death Company are BS 4, the same as normal marines. They have the same shooting capabilities of a normal tactical squad, sans special weapons. In addition, they're relentless. Which makes those bolters effective range 18' rapid fire, 30" total. They can also assault, and when they do, they generate as many attacks as an assault squad. At Ws5 and Str5. To top it all off, they have feel no pain. What I do is take 10 of them in a rhino. 250 pts max.

  • @keymaster013 And check your codex. The sternguard vets are 5 pts more per model than DC. The only advantage they have over DC is the special ammunition and special weapons availability. DC hit with more for less points. And they hit harder in CC. And they're more survivable.

  • @keymaster013 check ur codex, bs 3. but if ur opponents wanted to they could just pop ur rhino and lead ur death company on a merry chase in the wrong direction, also i dont knwo why u think their range is 30 and 18, its 12 and 24 same as everyone elses bolters. having said that they are increadibly badass at killing, I once took out 10 imortals, 3 destroyers and 5 lychguard in one assult phase; better than sex!

  • @mrcool9191 UMM. What codex are you using? I'm using the 5th Edition Blood Angels codex. Death Company are BS4. And I said effective range because they are relentless. They can move 6" and then fire, meaning you can add 6" to normal range for your strategies. And the whole purpose behind the rhino is not to protect them. It's to provide cover from blast weapons (granted, a single use perhaps) and to move em really fast.

  • @keymaster013 ahh thanks for that, for whayever reason i had been playing them at BS3, now whos the noob :D but what i was saying is if ur transport gets poped then something big like a landraider can easily pull them away from their intended target, making their range 18' and rapid fire 6'. you dont need to deal with a death company if its being toed away

  • @mrcool9191 The rhino is fast. Put it on the front of your deployment zone and advance 18" in one turn. By the time your rhino supposedly gets popped (remember all the other units in your army) you'll be in the face of your opponent. And remember how rage works. All it says is you have to move towards the nearest enemy, in the movement phase. You still get to shoot whatever you want (and at relentless, it works) and assault whatever you want.

  • @keymaster013 trust me dude, ive had it happen- and so what if they get to fire their boldguns? they probably would get pulled out of rapid fire range and charg range anyway. 10 bolter shots arent that effective against most things, i dunno the whole op argument for me rests on how a clever opponent can abuse the rage special rule

  • @mrcool9191 Move the rhino 12", disembark, shoot 12" rapid fire. 24" range boltguns with 2 shots each. Not bad, eh? To be honest, the DC arent the best unit in the codex. I feel like they're just good all rounders, like Chaos Plague Marines. Theyre good in rhinos and theyre tough.

  • The drop pod should be forced to come in turn 2 or die.

  • @BLASTO5614 Blood Angels Special rule. Not sure what it does in the game but fluffwise it makes the Blood Angels into bloodcrazed beserkers.

    Blood rage gives them fearless and furious charge.

    @ the other post Mephiston iasnt a Independant character and is a unit to himself and so cant jion units but can remain within 1" of any unit. He also doesn't suffer the blood rage as he's supposed to have over come it.
