Please contact me. I'd like to try a collaberation with you. Maybe Arran boat song or Sally Gardens with you on Flute and me on keyboard with harp voice. I'd love to learn the technology. What an opportunity to bond and connect with the rest of the world!!!!!
Sweet awesomeness! We played this at a session last night and there was a bit of harmonizing going on as well. We ought to do one and add a low D :-) Amazing job. I have a theory that the reason harmonies work on this one is because its actually a Breton tune (French) - but then as soon as I say that an ITM tune will show up with great harmony and my theory will be shot lol.
A formal collaboration of this is in the works now, actually, I hope to get it done soon. But yep, having a low D in there really gives it depth.
I hope you will elaborate on your theory of why harmonies might work better in Breton tunes. You've made me want to try it with an Irish one, and I want to know your thoughts on it.
Well, not sure I have a theory as to WHY harmonies might work better in Breton tunes - more an observation that they appear more often in Breton tunes. It could be that Breton tunes are closer to the french/midevil roots which incorporated many harmonies (think Gregorian chants and Renaissance tunes with recorders). Of course now I've been on the lookout for ITM tunes with harmonies...there must be SOME out there somewhere. :-)
very nice!

It isn't Breton - it's by the hurdy-gurdy player Gilles Chabenat, who says on his website that he comes from central France.
