Is it compulsory for guitar player to know about music notation? I wonder cause i've ever seen someone who has great skill in playing guitar but doesn't know how to read music notation. Help
@loyalbutterfan There are about 1 million guitar players in this world that can read. If you want a degree, ya gotta read. If you want a sax player, you have to write and read notation. It is a skill that coupled with talent brings out amazing music and Ideas. So try it, it can be a lot of fun. And anything to make your playing better is cool.
You don't have to, but you will make fewer mistakes when you sight read if you follow this system. It's not a new picking system; this is what the pro's use.
I realize it is not a new system, however you will find players such as Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth, Jason Becker and countless other guitars prefer economy picking or even alternate picking for that matter.
Do what works for you; this system helps people SIGHT READ music with fewer mistakes. When I solo, I use economy picking, just like the guitar players you mentioned. That will be covered in the soloing lessons. Patience please!
Thanks - You gotta do the exercises in the book if you want to "get it." Order your copy today!

Yes, there are many great guitarists who never learned how to read music but they are not great BECAUSE they never learned to read music
You can communicate by speaking and get by in our world, but it sure is helpful to know how to read and write, correct? It saves you a lot of time
Most guitarists do not learn to read because it is a difficult and unenjoyable process; the books go too fast and the exercises sound bad.
