Cody Smith was someone she trusted and felt safe with and he faked friendship with her to set her up and took part in raping and brutalizing her. He and others planned to do this to her well before the dance, confident they could lure her to the crime scene. If it hadn't gone down that night, they'd have tried another time.

At a meeting they were complaining about police investigating this area for crime check points and stopping people in their cars to check for I.D.s. @Star16 Police aren't always the answer, we shouldn't have to rely on the police we should teach boys 12 and older to fight like men, and raise them up with good values and teach them to react to something like this before the tragedy starts to occur. If we give police absolute power than police will be the ones doing the raping because that's how human nature works.
I'm just being realistic.
I also think that everybody should be allowed to carry a gun at any place or time but that's just me.

Well if Richmond has a lot of members that are from the lowest common denominator, than any police officers the city hires will be one of those "lowest common denominators". Citizens should be the first line of defense, I assumed that ALL men were trained to react violently to something like this happening, but the men of Richmond are too cowardly too.
I've been following this story for months, and a lot of times I can't sleep because of it. I stay awake gritting my teeth contemplating death.

I happen to believe that if California wasn't so strict on gun policies (which is a right-not a privilege since we're supposed to have the right to open carry) that girl could have easily protected herself. In the state of Vermont the strict gun policies are little to none. People as young as 16 can buy a gun and they have one the lowest crime rates in the country if not THE lowest. I find it ironic that a state that allows people to carry guns openly has the lowest crime rate. It debunks any theory that guns increase crime. In the case of being inside a school

Because, if one of the thousands of members of the student body lets lose with a gun it's 1 against thousands or a few against thousands.
