So justmom66 I don't know where you get your concept of "belief system" but I just need to tell you it is way wrong. If there is no love in a Christian's life then they are not Christian.That is what is called legalism and that is not an orthodox Christian concept.

First, you assume that all religious people are like the "religion" you experienced as a child -- which is definitely not the case.

Second, you assume that kids (in this case teens and young adults) are unable to make choices for themselves and are being forced into something -- again, completely false.

Finally, you fail to realize that today "kids being kids" means all manner of destructive behavior -- both to themselves and to others.

In closing I'd like to encourage you to reconsider whether your past experience with religion is sufficient to shadow the rest of your life. I'd recommend that you read Tim Keller's book "The Reason For God" which is a thoughtful and fair treatment of the objections people have to God.

I'm a teen, and I didn't let anyone "shove religion down my throat". I did exactly what you said, and now I have more problems than I will ever solve. Now, I HAVE to work my butt off, and it's been a whole lot easier than when I didn't follow Jesus.

Now, I can see how people like you would think that we're "brain-washing" these kids, but they have the right to choose where they want to go in life, do they not? So we can say these things you abhor and the KIDS can decide what to live for.
