don't count on any local law enforcment like this entering a building with an active shooter like this situation, unless they're trying to be heroes, it's going to come down to how fast SWAT gets suited up and shags ass over there. As an educator I do agree with these type of mock drills, however, with those high school kids screaming and running, this seemed more not terrible acting than anything that could really help law enforcement. I have reviewed the Columbine audio tapes MANY, MANY times and there is very little screaming going on, especially in the library. Why would you scream, if you want to stay alive and not draw attention to yourself? Would be better suited to have actors that understand this.

School shootings are a tragically unfortunate side effect of guns being widely available, and since they get the publicity they do, they are all that's focused on. In reality, guns save MANY more lives, and stop or deter more crimes than are committed with them. And in somewhere like the US, it would be impossible to do at this point.

We do this every Tuesday at my school with all the students running around trying to not get shot . every week one person is picked randomly to be the shooter but last week Fps Russia was in town and heard the gun fire from across the street and thought he would try become a hero and landed a 50 cal snipper down range hitting the innocent student in the neck , then all of a sudden a burst of machine gun fire took out some very loud yelling students Fps Russia turns and says Dont be a beeech

I think the first thing you should do if a guy walks into your class with a gun is just follow his directions, but if he just starts shooting, attack him, try to get the gun away from him.

There is no point of just hiding under your desk, it does not make you invincible. I know in those situations you don't know what your going to do, but sitting there and taking it wont do anything.

Rush him, you still will probably get hit, but at least you tried to stop him.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think every school should be doing this with the local law enforcement in anticipation for the worst case scenario. The men and women of our law enforcement agencies could really stand to use major crisis management scenario training. We've done it before with medical personal in anticipation of an anthrax attack/chemical warfare/disease outbreak, why not with this?
