PCVs in El Salv in 2004-2006 earned $265/month ($8/day). Cat food is $1.25/pound, and my 2 cats would consume about 2 pounds per week. That was something I could afford.

it says on the peace corps site that you get enough money to live like one of the locals so im assuming you dont get much. how do you afford to look after the cat?
