Imaginen estas luchas entre grandes de los diferentes estilos y artes: Emam Ali Habibi vs. Kuyzo Mifune; Yamashita vs.Chadarzev; Rickson Gracie vs. Mashaiko Kimura; Royce Gracie vs. Wally Jay; Bruce Lee vs. Huo Yuan Jia; Ku Yu Cheung vs. Ed Parker; G.Funakoshi vs. Yip Man; Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Louis; Frank Dux vs. Anderson Silva; Joe Lewis vs. Masutatsu Oyama; Apidej Sit Hrun vs.Gerard Gordeau; Euclides Pereira vs. Bass Rutten.
i know nothing about doug. except that he was matt hamills wrestling coach and that they were very close friends. so R.I.P doug Blubaugh. god bless you
The epic struggle........lil fact, alot of the medals or trophies wrestlers recieve today show a pinning combination of a wrestler in a high bridge about to be pinned. well that image is from this match, when bluebaugh had habibi on his back and habibi was in a very impressive bridge.
This year, 2010, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Rome Olympics where our three wrestlers won gold medals. Hopefully they will be honored in some way by the USA amateur wrestling society
Great historic video !! My dad was a high school teamate with Doug and maybe Shelby at Ponca City High. He had a lot of respect for them. Nice to see what he was talking about !! Really great.
That win was one of the greatest in Olympic wrestling history, and 1960 was a great year for our wrestlers, with the late Terry Mc Cann, the fine gentleman Shelby Wilson and his friend Doug Blubaugh all winning gold medals.
A lot of people thought Habibi had Bluebaugh pinned earlier in the match. Blubaugh really can back and put it on Habibi--he really had him tight. Habibi really gave it his best in reisisting the pin, but Doug really muscled him. At any rate, these men are both two of the giants of amateur wrestling.

Michigan State when Peninger and Blubaugh were together was awesome, and when Doug left it became apparent that he was a huge part of it right away.
