too jazzy and stylized for the lyrical content lacking authenticity..........just not feeling Sting .......he wasn't in his flo.........one perspective .......
The Blue Turtles' best song. Do you think Sting wrote it about Trudy? They seemed to have had a good relationship. She bore him five kids, last I heard, and I think they're still together.
Thanks, never knew the background. Remember reading about Sting in divorce court in, perhaps 1982, trying to keep from paying out big bucks in alimony (I think there were no kids).
Nice! I used to have this movie recorded on VHS years ago, and of course the sound was muffled, not to mention I played it over and over again lol! I dont know, for some reason, I've preferred sting's live performances (like this one) over the album versions. When ever "message in a bottle" is mentioned to me, for instance, I always think of the solo version he did in this movie. anyway, thanks for cleaning this up "Gordy" :) jk!
@haski570 Ya right, now he looks like Bert & Ernie, his hair cut presently and his music is not good. He needs to go back to this hairstyle although older and go back to his Jazz roots with this style of music and maybe bring back Bradford Marsalis. He hasnt had a good record since Mercury Falling, he was jazzy then, and then he got dorky and brought in new band members and the dorky Chris Botti trumpet player, he hasnt been good for a while, he needs to watch this and go back to his roots.
@stone985 I recommend to you Symphonicity. If you don't like that then you have no heart. I saw the Dream of the blue turtles tour in 1986 and I saw Symphonicity two weeks ago. I know which version of Sting I prefer. For the record, I am not a fan of Police.
@thiskidrighthere123 Well since this was recorded for a movie the sound will have been polished, had overdubs added, and mastered in the studio all over again. You're not actually watching a live performance, it's a video of a performance.
@myownservant i'm so glad he left the police and went solo, his songwriting skills and musical talent was never really evident until he went on his own, it's like the police were holding him back.
Signs of flirting at 1:29. Gordon, you naughty boy!

One of the most special Sting songs, the melody is very subtile.

Love the couplet:

@1hotdilf Watch Omar at 1:10 quickly swing his mic around behind him,so it is out of the way just before he lets loose..
