  • love this album! thxs

  • my #1 fave pick from Ferry...for all time. too bad i can't find a promo video of it...

  • Love this song... Takes me way back to my senior year of high school.

  • great sound and rhytm

  • yes, love the vynal, watching it spin, those pops and clicks all seem to add to the experience.

  • Top, oh, 25 greatest albums ever made would have to include this. Do any youngsters out there notice that vinyl sounds about a GAZILLION times better than the f**king digitalized bits? C'mon, wake up!

  • @bamboosa - It's amazing how much warmer it sounds, even via the video and YouTube crunch. And I'm right there with you on the ranking!

  • @bamboosa Sure,Floyd especially...The Pretenders...Robin Trower..et al !

  • Wow sounds a lot like the style of Talking Heads. This is awesome music...totally.lol. I knew of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music but had only heard Love is the drug and More than this. I was playing GTA V.C. last week and More than this came on on "FLASH FM" (lol) so I decided to check out UTUBE for more Roxy/Ferry. WOW, what I've been missing!! Avalon is so soulful and touching. This song is sooo awesome with that fading guitar riff :o) .

  • I still remember sitting there, as a 4-5 year old kid, entranced with the cover of this album, and i loved the music too. This entire album is killer, music isnt made like this anymore...feel, mood, emotion, great musicianship. We've degenerated to Shitney Spears and other comic acts.

  • Amen to that.

  • you speak the truth.

  • I don't know how I could agree more with what you said. I was listening to another Roxy Music song and someone said "can we just bring back the 80s and this sort of music". I was born in 1971 so I was about the same age as you when this album came out and I still remember how it made me feel, a total fantasy. Your description of "Shitney" Spears as a comic act is spot on!!!! 1 millions stars for your comment on the music of today!!

  • @ObsidianImages plus 1 here

  • @ObsidianImages Worse yet is rap which for some reason is classified as music .Bring back the 80's!!!!!

  • true majestic sound and climax of the former 2 albums with a similar sound.

  • My wife heard this on an advert and said that it sounded just like Duran Duran! Ha, ha..

  • The lyrics: "Look at my hand, there's a soul on fire." Sheer poetry, Ferry and the boys firing on all cylinders for this album. They don't make accessably complex music like this anymore.

  • love the song and this whole album. Just love it. Also prob my fave album cover too, very sweet :)

  • just can't get enough of this song

  • Nothing beats vinyl ... the sound depths are aparent even in this low quality digital internet reproduction. And Roxy deserve all that vinyl nostalgy - essense quality ... Godlike group ...

  • I swear I remember seeing the actual video of this song on Youtube not to long ago. I remember 4 showgirls laying on their back with their legs up in the air. Bryan was walking around downtown or something. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. What gives?

  • yeah, I've noticed a few of the videos on my favourite list are gone due to copyright (at least that's the message that comes up when I open the link)

Youtube had probs recently with some recording studios demanding to have their songs/videos removed.

Daft move if you ask me!

  • I guess they want to keep it a secret. Archived in some dusty studio cellar.

  • It's up again now, though audio/video is a bit out of sync.

It's not being kept as a secret, since it's featured on the "Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music: Video Collection" DVD from 2002. That's a pretty rare DVD though I think. I just saw 1 seller on Amazon UK who wanted £ 87.95 for a used copy, and 1 on Ebay for about $ 70.00.

  • Awesome! and i'm the first one to comment on it!

  • Hypnotic. Best track on a dreamlike album. Thanks for posting.

  • Very nice... The entire compilation of Avalon is one of the greatest works of music ever made.

    Thanks.

  • Once called: The Ferrari of Roll and Roll!

    Still great.

  • One of my favorite Roxy songs ever, first or second generation...

  • Great Song, Thanks for uploading.
