That's the same lame production as the one we see Lucio Gallo in. Only that Alvarez is the much better singer and actor. His singing is easily a 4 and his acting at least a 4 too. What you can also see nicely here is what a tremendous physical effort it is to sing...
Carlos Alvarez is truly OUTSTANDING! Not only his voice, but also his stage performance. This production is great as it is so emotionally charged! Thanks for posting it
Yes, it's almost unheard of these days. His acting is as great as his voice, and the voice could easily stand on its own. He could just stand there and the voice would compensate for no acting whatsoever, and yet he gives us this, in every performance.

Dopo Ettore Bastianini ,il miglior "Rigoletto" per me era Stoyan Popov .

I love his voice almost as much as I love his shoes here. :)

It is nice but not amazing. He is not Rigoletto

Everything that I hear him sing is amazing. I always preferred Tito Gobbi in this part but Alvarez is now a close second. Wow!

Ah you kidding me?! Tito Gobbi wasn't even in this guy's league.
