To the parent with the 13 year old, if your child has normal intelligence and has no psychiatric issues, the problem is the parent.

personally i think 9 out of 10 kids will act like this during most medical procedures if both the parents and the staff involve them and communicate with them before during and after

which makes the exam easier on everyone and helps the childs relationship with medical staff in the long run
