Also, the metal appears to be aluminum, which wasn't used in manufacturing during the 20's. The more I look at it the more convinced I am that this is not old. The metal seems to have an aluminum texture with an artificial brass coloring. I'd be interested in looking at the hinge and clasp. That blue coloring though is artificial and dyes back then were natural so that is another tip off. Tassle appears to be nylon, not invented until 1936, widespread use much later.
I don't believe its old because the mirror appears relatively new (no fading which occurs with older mirrors) the tassle is a bit too blue to be old as well. However, you were moving it around too fast to really see any detail. I'm pretty good at this stuff (judging the age of things). I can't tell you why, its just patterns I pick up that I don't have name for or categorization for. Colors are something I really pay attention to in things. My guess: under 10 years of age.
Interesting...looks sort of like a fish when it's hanging...with a blue tail. However old it is, it's pretty...

The problem with the metal is its original finish is nearly worn off. Try watching in "high quality" to see if you can get a better view.
Thank you!

i bought it more than 10 years ago. I am intrigued by you knowing so much!
The tassle is made of glass beads. I don't want to break any, but i did bite on it to test the feel.

Cool.
You'll have to keep us posted, Suz, now I am curious to learn more about it.

I really like it, but I'm afraid am clueless as to its origins.

Neither do I, but it appears rather reptilian. Mikaela Ironbolt is still waxing the Bumblebee

Thanks anyway. Serge's notion of reptilian origin was one that hadn't occurred to me. But it IS scaly. hmm.:o)
