WE had this very car, an 04 version we were travelling at 50 mph when a Citroen lost control commIng towards us doing 60 ish . He slid sideways into us and we hit his passenger side ..closing impact about 100+mph !
I had only a bruised right arm and a bloody nose, my wife had a fractured vertabrae and broken finger. we were knocked out for a few seconds but we both got out of the car using the doors.
The Citroen driver was not wearing a seat belt,seemingly he never did, unfortunately he died.
It's probably because it doesn't have the "advanced airbags" system that invovles automatically turning off the (passenger airbag) when no one is sitting in the seat or if the seat belt isn't buckled.
renaults are the saftest cars in the world, renault make there cars safe, they were the 1st car manufacture to bring out a car with a 5 n cap safety rating, and have not long ago brought out a car with a 6 safety rating, audis, bmws, mercs or volvos, loool, all have around 4 star ratings. plus this video is bout 6 years old. that megane look like it had hardly been touched compared to the other car.
its because this kind of accident come at this speed in cities... if u do it on a highway with 130 or 150KM/H you won't be here to post messages on youtube i guess ;)

i would like to say that french cars are not allowed in the united states because they do not pass our emissions test. so how can you say american cars are more polluting? then again, i suppose it would be more important because you are taxed based on this while i am not. i think the europeans are too harsh on american cars. bottom line: they are one of the most reliable cars on the road. they will last over 200,000 miles regardless of how cheap the dashboard feels.

Strict US emission tests are a myth, most new cars from the US market don't qualify for Euro4. If I want to import an Infiniti I get Euro3 only. That means as new car it wouldn't even be allowed to be sold anymore because all carmakers have to offer at least Euro4 norm.

I have a 2004 megane 120dci in 3 Doors Luxe Privilege and I Love It... very comfortable on the Road and good reaction in High Speed...and we have in my family the RS 235Cv and it's an excellent Car too !!! I love my Megane !!!

Nobody wants to make a comparable crash test with Mercedes W124 for example - I think it will be not very good for renault driver believe me. The only car in 1992 crash test which won was the Mercedes W124 - the passengers compartment stayed intact! It was the only car with stable compartment. The W124 can stand against some modern cars as a very safe car!

No fiberglass is used in any airbag system.
It was only 30mph! It should've been at least 40 mph into another car head on! That would have been more realistic.

cette voiture ne regarde pas meilleure que le croiseur de Chrysler pinte. en termes de pollution, im non sûr, parce que le gouvernement américain n'impose pas sur celui. je pense que vous des types êtes trop dur sur les voitures américaines. le tableau de bord se sent. de l'autre côté, ce megan shitty semble avoir le même tableau de bord grêle que n'importe quelle voiture américaine. la différence étant... les voitures américaines durera plus de 200,000 miles.

I don't know about that. My brother drove our 1991 Ford Aerostar van directly into a brick wall and only a golf ball-sized dent is present.
British Land Rovers are great too. It's only new American cars that are absolute shit. Crash a 2006 Chevy Venture at 30mph and it will fold like an accordian. We call those cars "Beer Cans". I suppose that's the best we can get for $25,000.00.

my father had a verry big accident whit a 2004 mercedes s clas he dive 160kmh the car stopt on the roof believe me an renault is not so stabel as a mercedes 100.000 euro or for a renault 25.000 euro we have an car srap place when iam an renault whit the forklift lift on his roof than have i only the roof on my forks but a mercedes can i play the whole car on my forks !!

Legioner You're idiot.They showed a simple and the weakest crash I have ever seen! This is not a big crash hiting the other car in it's door. Nobody wants to make a comparable crash test with Mercedes W124 for example - I think it will be not very good for renault driver believe me. The only car in 1992 crash test which won was the Mercedes W124 - the passengers compartment stayed intact! It was the only car with stable compartment. The W124 can stand against some modern cars as a very safe car!

c'est faux! je suis pas du tout fan de voitures françaises mais les renault ou souvent gagner des titres de voitures la plus sure ( niveau sécurité pas mécanique) dans plusieurs magasines même etrangers, et les ingenieurs de renault sont des precurseurs dans les dispositifs de sécurité dont le travail est imité par beaucoup d'autres marques

The smoke effects that happened after the air bags deployed was the particles of fiber glass(dust) stored in the air bag canisters. Peace.

no its not, fibre glass would be quite dangerous to inhale. The bag is made of nylon. The bag is coated in corn starch and/or talc powder to ensure smooth deployment. The only thing in the canisters are gases that mix to create a sudden expansion of gas to inflate the airbag, about enough to keep it inflated for around 1 second. No fiberglass is used in any airbag system.
