FOR those who dont know about this device, its a very good device and the Audio is great and images are perfcet... But Its can do it all for a Price. If you want to drag your videos or podcasts into it, You HAVE TO PURCHASE the Software or PLUGIN. i was dissap[ointed when i discovered that when i had uploaded the videos... But Archos Should Tell its Customers that You HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ACCESORIES. the plugin costs about $20 not that much, but it is money...If have Questions just comment m :)

The A5 needs a PLUG IN to play podcast videos, such as Youtube videos and o0thers. And the games i downloaded were not trhe best. THEY WOULD PLAY REALLY SLOW But if u plan to use it for Traveling and On TRips and all the MOVING around, THEN GET IT! but this device isnt ment for a TEENAGER. ITS REALLY BIG FOR A POCKET! In My OP dont buy it, the Ipod Touch is better EVEN THO im not a fan of Apple, The Itoych is better

bought a archos 5 250 gig about 3 weeks a go, and it was refurbish, so when i tried to register the device it gave me a notice that this device ,WAS already registered , so i could not do it, 6 emails latter and 5 voice messages, i have NOT RECEIVE AN ANSWER.

I own the Archos 5 and I love the product. But let me explain why Oakley is half right. The addons are great, but to force the useer to purchase them to experience the full potential is wrong. However, once you buy, it's yours and will increase the usage of your device. If you do get the Archos 5, buy the DVR station with it. I plan on picking that item up soon. Also, I would have been happier had they used Mozilla as a browser. Opera sucks to me. I think it's worth the purchase though.

is there really that much difference between the mini dock or the full one?

I mostly only want the dock to be able to add on huge hard drives, that's the main thing for me.

For less cost though, the Archos gives higher resolution, larger screen, and more storage.

iPod's are nice, but the walls are annoying me. I also hate how they lag when they're fully loaded with music.

I suppose it's a matter of preference. After doing plenty of research, I've concluded the Archos is best for what I plan to do with it. I want an enormous HD for music, photos, and videos in the formats I have them in and be able to transfer via windows explorer rather than a sync application.

For photos, the larger higher resolution screen does better for me. I also have a lot of songs that my 8gb ipod won't hold. For less than the cost of getting a 32gb ipod, I can have a 250gb archos.

and since it acts as an external hard drive player, to put your contect on it.. can you simply plug it in, open it as a disc drive, and drag and drop whatever you want?
