  • Pure waste of time, and breath. You honestly could have kept this display of ridiculousness to yourself. I'm sure that you probably don't believe in yourself. My God is real and one day he will prove himself to be. While Satan has succeeded in convincing people that there's no God, the only one who can truly define morality the world is steadily going to hell in a hand basket. Well you can count me out. I accept Jesus, God, and the neautiful Holy Spirit.

  • no god no problem i am an atheist and life has never been better.

    .

  • how can people say things like this...what do you live for? yourself. theres no hope in that whatsoever.

  • God gave you the most precious gift of all--the gift of life--and gave it to you freely. To then turn around and publicly spit in His face is not only unthinkable but unforgiveable as well. Thus, for you my friend, the die is cast--there's no turning back now.

  • He is doing nothing wrong but questioning what is out there.

  • Questioning is one, concluding without proofs is not very wise. I like how people conclude unprovable fact that God does not exist. I also like how they conclude that God is evil just because religion isnt perfect (people!).

  • I agree with you for the most part. I think it can go either way and that's why I am an agnostic.

  • God is not in hell, that's the one God forsaken place. As for why he created people knowing the would sin, that's a question you'd have to ask him when you meet him on judgement day.

  • I did not say God was in hell, but logically, if god is omnipresent (everywhere) then by definition of the word (everywhere), he must be in hell. If god is all powerful and chose to allow us to sin and hell to exist, then he is sadistic. The only logical thing to conclude is that (without a shred of evidence), god is neither sadistic for creating hell, nor in hell, god simply does not exist.

  • Once again you atheists are so simplistic. You reject God just because you don't understand him. God is not a sadist the Bible says that hell was created for the Devil and his angels who rebelled against God and took a third of the Angels with them. They deserve the punishment. And God made a provision thru Christ's death on the cross to keep all humans out of hell.

  • May I ask you a question? Do you ever question the bible and admit that there is a possibility that all religions could be manmade?

  • God did not create hell, the devil's action created hell. Why did god allow the devil free will? Free will is better than being a robot. God gave us free will with rules and regulations. There are truth to all things even the negative. Its better to live than to have not existed at all. Just like its better to have free will than to be a robot. One thing we must understand is god gave us free will, use it as you choose. Just realize there is both good and bad to free will.

  • You are not using the brain we have evolved. Do you agree that god is omnipresent (everywhere)? If yes, then by definition he must be every place conceivable. If god is not everywhere, he cannot be all powerful, because what happens in hell would be outside of his knowledge. Thus, hell could plan a revolt to overthrow god. ;-)

  • God is aware of everything that occurs in the universe. He choses to remove his presence from hell because hell is a place of punishment. God is all powerful and no force will ever overthrow him. That is merely an atheist's fantasy.

  • No God knows what is going on in hell he choose to ignore it. God could go to hell and piss on the devil. God gave us free will because he wanted us to learn what is there to learn. He simply gave us an outline of the truth. There is nothing greater than the truth. Gaining first hand knowledge about things is better than believing in the truth. God loves and thus knows that some truth is best left unexperienced so he gave us rules. However, some choose to expereince everything.

  • Im not trying to prove a point to win an arguement. If God exsists, he must have made himself known right? Experience is never at the mercy of

an arguement. One has to humble himself and understand that he needs God. If you want proof, start here on your spiritual journey(wikipedia

jabal al lawz), and then move out of an "Egyptian state of mind" like the Israelites did to find the ONE TRUE GOD. Then you will understand the biblical progression. My hope for you is eternal life with Jesus.

  • I assume that by "experience is never at the mercy of argument" that you mean that because you experience god that he is real? While you may accept this a truth, I know from personal experience that I and all other humans can come to experience reality in a way that is not supported by the evidence and actual reality.

  • For instance, sometimes we avoid dealing with difficult situations (debt, relationships, illness, bad habits) and convince ourselves that everyhing is fine, but to everyone else, it is clear that we are avoiding reality. Our momentary experience is real to us, but by no means necessarily reflects reality. Our minds are quite capable of misleading us.

  • the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;

the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

  • Spare me the proverbs, I don't need archaic mythology to lift my non-existent spirits. Humor me this: If god is everywhere, is he in Hell? If God is all powerful, why did he create imperfect beings (humans) that he knew (because he is all knowing) were going to sin?

  • I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from?My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

    He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

  • Good quote. think for yourself question authority. I am a huge tool fan (they use it on their aenima album). p.s. i'm also catholic.

  • Thanks, I love Tool as well, check out the band porcupine tree, they are another mind blowing band.

  • In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world

  • Very interesting. I have always vundered if there is a GOD, but as a vet I should have known bttr. As a dyslexic????

  • Tim Leary, nice to see that he has not been totally 'demonized' by the Faciests. Keep yourself free from the IslamoChistians!

  • Will do.

  • It is backward to think that 2000 year old knowledge and stories would know more about the world than our sciences. Religion and faith served to keep order in the ancient world of many, many unknowns, but today, and in light of our ability to explore reality directly, it is dangerous to cling to outdated comforts and crutches.

  • It is arrogent to think that we are so much smarter then people of 2000 years ago. You would also be surprized about how much they knew about the world they lived in...ever study the pyrimids? I agree with you that the Catholic church has served to keep order, but I do not believe that the Catholic church follows God's will.

  • I am a student of psychology and have a deep interest and curiosity for neuroscience and assure you that consciousness does not come from simply matter, but from perhaps the most complex arrangement of matter in the universe, the human mind. Its deceptively powerful, and believe it or not, consciousness is but a small part of what our brains do/produce. To claim that because we (scientifically oriented minds) don't have the answers, so therefore god must exist is toxic logic.

  • I used to be a student of psychobiology. And I used to be an atheist. I agree with you about how complex the human mind is. And once I got out of that liberal art academic setting, and resarched evolution elsewhere, I learned what they don't teach about the flaws of their theories and realized how much faith it takes to believe that all the ingrediants for our amazing consciousness existed in a protozoa floating around in premortal soup.

  • I am now a student of physics and engineering. Because I was so sure that there was no God, I wanted to understand how this world works around us. And the more I got into the sciences, the more I started to see, that random creation is ugly, inefficent and lacking. Our universe is the opposite. It is hard to imagine that the universe was put together any other way then by the Best Engineer Ever. Both for our universe, and ourselves could not have just randomly occured.

  • Thank you so much its so ignorant to believe that the universe and this world all fell together so perfectly by accident. All of creation points to intelligent design right down to the design of our bodies!

  • To say that something is an "accident" implies that somebody goofed up. It is not an accident that life evolved on this planet, it is a beautiful and complex turn of events that brought us here. Evolution is a far more beautiful and useful concept than that which creation promotes. What created the creator? Evolution does not require a creator and is thus immune to such questions.

  • So, it is not that God exists because we don't have all the answers....I have seen what God does, and what promises he has fulfilled. But Blindly believing in randominess takes too much faith for me keep holding on to, no matter how much I wanted it to be true.

  • niceguyjayson,

I appreciate your act of faith here. Personally I'd love t be an atheist, but I can't summon up enough faith. I mean you have to believe (1) something can come from nothing, (2) life can come from non-life, and (3) consciousness can come from matter. And that's just for starters! These propositions are anything but scientific or intellectual. They are more like ferry tales for grown-ups.

  • I used to think I wanted to believe, despite the strangeness that religion and "god (s)" promote. I agree that the first two statements you pose are difficult to understand.

  • You are obviously an intelligent guy. I understand where you are coming from. I preached what you preach. I believed religion was just a pathetic brainwashing tactic for the dumb masses. So I implore you to look further, and away from the liberal academia which is just the opposite extreme of the Catholic Church. Mostly science is great. But strip away both sides political agendas, you can see that the scientific community today, is just like the Church of the dark/middle ages.

  • The really odd thing about this whole blasphemy challenge is that you only have to deny the Holy Spirit. It tells me that atheists ironically only give Christianity as something worthy to discredit. Where is the denial of Allah? Who is saying that Buddha was an idiot? Where is the rejection of Krishna? Baal? Maya? Athena?

  • Timothy Leary was a man and no man is perfect. His quote implores us to lay aside preconceived notions about anything and to question anyone who has the "answers" Chaotic, vulnerable and confused might be the result of a junkie lifestyle but at a higher level of meaning is what many people feel when they realize there is no god and that we as humans are responsible for our own success or failure as a person, and as a species.

  • We of course are responsible for our own actions, but we are NOT our own god. We are not good enough on our own. I spent the first 27 years of my life not believing in God, and that concept was alot more comfortable for me, then accepting His existance. People are not scared that he doesn't exist...that is easy. To accept yourself as a Child of God...that took ALOT more guts for me. Everything changes after that...and its not an easy comfortable change.

  • I don't even know how to respond to this, so basically you have faith? And feel inadequate without a supposed god you have no proof exists?

  • Thats odd indead, also funny, cos it shows me that God is the one God that gets attacked...so He's the real God. Just like ppl swearin words containing Jesus and God. Why not against Allah, Zeus, Demon, Satan etc.???

  • Chaotic, Confused, Vulnerable...sounds like a good way to discribe an acid trip. But then again, that is the kind of advice you get from a junkie. As an ex-junkie myself, you shouldn't get your spiritual advice from someone who obtains knowledge and enlightment by impairing and clouding their judgement and logical reasoning skills.

  • Jesus still loves you. I am sorry, but Tim Leary really was a jerk; in the 60's he left the country and allowed all of his follwers to go to jail. Actually brother, the bible is helpful to RIGHTEOUS rulers but devistaing on WICKED rulers, like Bush. If we follow the paths of christ the world would change over night for the better. Peace

  • Timothy Leary was somewhat crazy, few could deny that, but the message in this quote is genius. It is scary and overwhelming to realize that there is no god, not creator, no savior, just this life and our choices to guide things. But after the initial fear comes clarity and freedom.

  • Well ofcourse, after you tell everybody you only have a mother and never had any fathers, it gives you certain freedom!

  • Its really sad that you rely on a flawed junkie for spiritual wisdom on the meaning of life. But you reject the sovereign lord of the universe. And as for freedom here's my favorite scripture.."THough they promise liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption. "

  • I do not rely on Timothy Leary for spiritual wisdom. I realize that he was very intoxicated at times. I am capable of appreciating the paradox of a man consumed by drugs creating a brilliant saying that asks us to think for ourselves and to fight organized religion, politics, and cultures that claim to have our best interests in mind. I do not believe in a spirit. Life to me is a precious thing because we have only one shot at living.

  • Your scriptural quote is itself a brilliant piece of writing and seems to implore us to question authority, much as timothy learys quote.

  • Heh, if there is a God, you are in a load of crap. :)

  • Well, I suppose.

  • but there isnt, so you waste your life away.

  • Good job.

  • Thank you, I appreciate your support
