I've played it numerous times before, and its beautiful. The keys are very real, and the sounds are amazing. Its sleek and goodlooking, and can be baught in many different shades.
I think you'd be making a great investment in buying this.
ahhh im soo confused!?!?! Im new to the world pof digital pianos, Im thinking of getting the YDPS31 which is about £560, whats the difference between the s31 and the s30 and also whats this one? Is this a newer version and is this better than the S30 and S31? Should I get this one instead?? Someone help :S
@HIvanH91 I've tried both, the S31 and 140. The difference is pretty big. The S31 has only a one-level sample while the 140 has a three-level sample. It's a big difference, and you can notice that even if you're not a pro. However, I would recommend you saving a little more money and buy a YDP 160. The keyboard feels very different, the keys are heavy like a real piano while the 140 has very soft/light keys. And the YDP 160 has a MUCH better sound (20w X 2 against 6w X 2).
I think Im gonna go with the YDP S31 though because of the small compact size and because its the cheapest. I already own a real piano and this is just for when Im at university so I can still practice :)
hey i just got this a few days a go. i was wondering if you have any idea of the names of the demo songs are that would be greaaat if you could tell me! lol thanks
This piano is so great. I like it more than a lot of other, more expensive electrics I've played on. The feel is awesome, and the sound is also very satisfying. This video shows it off well.
Far too much talking, far too little playing. I don't want to sit here and have some guy read me the specs, I can look those up. I just want an audio sample from the piano.
But Roland beats Yamaha. If you hit a note with some velocity only 3 mm down, on a real piano, you will hear a loud sound. Try to hit the keyboard on a Yamaha digital piano down for only 3 mm: and you will hear nothing because yamaha only triggers if the key reaches ALL the way down. So on a real piano: everytime you hit a note fot only 2/3/4 mm, you WILL hear the note: but NOT on a YAMAHA digital piano. TRY Roland: they do it the right way... Just try out this experiment, you'll see,,,
I'm sorry to say it has not so much to do with sensitivity. Touch sensitivity and triggering are two different subjects... It's the triggering that's the problem with Yamaha. Ofcourse there is a louder sound when you hit the key harder and a softer sound if you hit it more gentle: but(!) there won't be ANY sound if the key isn't pushed all the way down untill it can't go any further no matter how hard or soft you hit it .Go try it out in the music store: you'll experience it for yourself...
I didn't have the oportunity to check what you are saying. BUT, to me, the keys mechanism of Roland is too "fast" (the keys don't offer enough resistance). Maybe that way, it imatates better a Grand Piano, but it could make difficult to learn the technique to play a Upright piano...
Thanks. Do you have one? If so, i have a few questions about it :P Im thinking about getting one sometime but its a big thing so i dont want to regret my decision
I do have the YDp 140 and it is very good. It's more of a practice/study piano. It plays fantastic and sounds decent. I have no regrets about buying it.
I have the YDP-140 and love it.Don't be fooled by the 2 6watt speakers. Its PLENTY loud. I was playing upstairs one night at half volume and my girlfriend could hear it outside after she got out of her car. I wasn't even playing very loud. 20w speakers would be too much for me anyway,I'm not playing for large audiences lol.
Both of these pianos are good choices. Speaker watts are cheap to make, the difference in price here is the keys. ydp-160 feels slightly better. Either or are fine.
i will definitely wisit the website, this was a wery nice presentation.

is this true everyone, because isn't that what the touch sensitive keys are. The louder the sound the harder you press?

How is the YDP 140 similar to an acoustic piano?
Webrider101 3 years ago
if feels just like one but it doesnt sound just like one
dkrumrie123 3 years ago
Thanks. Do you have one? If so, i have a few questions about it :P Im thinking about getting one sometime but its a big thing so i dont want to regret my decision
Webrider101 3 years ago
It doesn't sound just like one, probably because of weak (only 6W) built-in amplifiers. I played YDP 160 and it was pretty good for me.
tweener1618 3 years ago
But it's seriously expensive and pretty rare here in the UK =/
