Thank you very much for uploading this wonderful video! I shared it tonight with a 73 year old kid who with his Grandpa made it to some of the games in St. Louis and listened to most on the radio in Vandalia, Illinois. He grew up loving Stan and I searched the internet and found all of these wonderful videos and we watched them together. By the time we watched Stan play his last game my friend had to wipe away a tear! Wonderful memories! God blessed our world with Stan Musial!
Great to find the song sung by Marty Bronson, "Stan the Man". I've been looking for it since hearing it over 40 years ago. Musial is one of my heroes; I attended his last game in '63 and met him in '95--what a thrill! Thanks for posting!
Ted Williams and Stan Musial were the two best left-handed hitters of their time.
A natural pull-hitter, Williams began hitting the other way to beat Boudreau's and other shifts. Read Ted's"The Science of Hitting" for further info. By his own account, Musial hit mainly straightaway and center-left during his first five major-league seasons. As Musial matured -- physically, mentally and as a hitter -- he began pulling more often. His home runs increased accordingly --
which made him the best hitter sice ty cobb bcoz he made no adjustmets he was born a warrior just like griffey junoir who was doubtless brought up on his legend being from the same town and all
Growing up in St Louis and seeing him play he was and still is my hero. Recently in hometown ate at Ozzie Smiths place and had pic of Stan looking at me the whole time. It was greatness as he is.
he is underrated cause america is racist, especially towards central and eastern europeans.they change history together with germans, french, russians and english.trying to whiten their past.sad.
ur a dumbazz don frederick yes i am stupid and speeled it like it sounds like i was at the court of elizabeth the 1st im a saxon u dont get more red blooded american than that stan was the greatest ballplayer after ty cobb so dont u wag that racist finger at me lo ve go back to school
Stan Musial is first class all the way. His autographed harmonica is in the top drawer at my office.
One time I walked into Kreis' steakhouse on Lindbergh with a friend from New York and ran smack face-to-face into Stan. My jaw dropped open and I could only manage to say, "Hi Stan!" Stan of course was as kind and as gracious as ever.
My friend asked me who that was and I instantly remembered that my friend wasn't from St. Louis. Every St. Louisan knows and reveres Stanley Frank Musial.
i mean baseball fans in general...cardinal fans will always know Stan the Man 7 Batting Titles 4 MVPs .331 carrer batting average 3000 hits and he was fast too he had a few seasons with at least 20 triples
Kinda frustrating, isn't it? Stan didn't draw attention to himself except through his performance, If young fans know anything about Musial's extraordinary hitting, they probably don't know about his running ability (I think Ted Williams once said that his lifetime BA would have been 10 points higher if he'd had Stan's speed), nor his defensive skill at both first base and the outfield --
St. louisans of any generation will always remember "Swingin' Stan the Man." I doubt there will ever be as exemplary a person of his caliber, even apart from his tremendous athletic talent.
Kind of weird that he had 1815 hits both at home and away in his career. He was and still is the perfect example of an unselfish and gentleman baseball player. Never got ejected and he still and will always be Stan the Man.

Without doubt, ONE of the greatest ever. My favorite player when I was a kid even tho I grew up in New York......When Ebbetts Field was torn down, they should have given Stan the right field wall. Noel Hynd, LA< CA

And Williams acknowledged that Musial was in his (Ted's) class --

Would be nice to have some film footage here. But even so, this is a nice tribute to a great hitter who by all accounts is a fine man as well:) --

I.m not to sure he was under rated, if he were a Yankee there would be another center field monument at Yankee Stadium

the best tribute to Stan that I've ever seen. Great songs and very well done.
Recommended reading: "From Stash to Stan The Man." Great book.
I made a myspace bulletin out of this video for my friends.
Keep up the good work.
