  • slow as fuck.

  • 305 at the crank!

  • I currently drive an 02 Acura TL. I want a WRX STI because it's way faster.

  • It kinda doesn't even sound like he's going WOT.

  • despite drive train loss...still seems a bit low. my 07 STI dynoed for 249whp and factory rating on it is 293bhp

  • looks like its brand new...migh just not be broken into yet.

  • oops - i just realized this is an STi dyno. with 20% drivetrain loss from a 305bhp car, you should get about 244 at the wheels. this dyno reads a LITTLE low; there's a 22% drivetrain loss.

  • fwd=15%

    rwd=20%

    awd more like 25%

  • i always do:

    fwd - 15%

    rwd - 17%

    awd - 20%

and it seems to work out well. oh well, different people, different calculations.

  • does anybody realize that the 08 WRX only makes 224 at the flywheel stock. so if this car is stock, then there's no way its making 238 at the wheels. if the car is stock, this dyno is probably reading in flywheel horsepower.

  • It's not a WRX, it's a WRX Sti = 305 hp at crank.

  • you're right! i'm not used to seeing "2008 Subaru WRX STi"; i usually just see people write "2008 STi".

  • Only after I wrote a reply did I notice that you had corrected yourself...

  • why did they change the style in 08

  • cuz it looks fuckin mean...hottest hatch out i think

  • 21% Drivetrain loss...i guess its expected from a 4wd, Still impressive.

  • Arent they supposed to make 300hp, or is that at the engine?? anyone know?

  • 300HP is rated at the flywheel. The power on the video is to the wheels.

  • oh okay, thanks m8

  • @rr92890 Calculate about 15-20% loss. Being an AWD, means more energy is lost at the wheels.

  • the mazda HP is rated at the flywheel, not to the wheels as this video shows. There is atleast a 15-20% loss of power thru the drivetrain.

  • What was the torque?

  • Not sure about the high 12s but 13s are pretty routine in stock form. Just purchased mine out of Reno NV. for 38K its probably the best deal going and a whole lotta fun. With some simple mods high to mid 12s should be seen. Subaru did there homework!

  • Is that the 2 or the 2.5 motor ?????

  • us spec 2.5

  • Also, if its barely worn in, another reason the HP could be a few down...

  • I love HP.

  • 238whp seems pretty low for whp... Aren't these suppose to make around 255 or so?? Could it be because its using the heavy base wheels instead of the BBS ones?

  • Uhhh no, 220 whp is a high 13 second car. What helps is the AWD launch that gets it close to 12, but not quite there. Now if the STI weighed 2500lbs, then yea it would be in the 12's

  • I've done it, I ran a 12.9 at houston raceway park with 222 whp in a WRX. I have the timeslip if you want to see it.

People have run 12s with stock STIs as well, its not common but with a good launch and good weather it can happen.

  • wow a big loss in the driveline. But I like the new ones alot.

  • You'll need closer to 280whp if you want to run 12's in a WRX.

  • Are freakin joking. Was that with the SI Drive in S# mode or I mode

  • Wao lol you must be a newb. There big differance between BHP and WHP.
