  • This looks like it's about Edie Sedgewick

  • lou reed does lou reed better than anyone :)

  • best rhytm and lead guitars in the world and they are all played by lou reed himself, he dont need nobody else, nobody can do it better, and the voice is so magical. words are funny like on many lou reed albums, hes got lot of humour, he is the best of all

  • So it's all a dream, right? Lou fantasizes about seducing the straight girl (or is it the straight record-buying public?).

  • This song's original no-frills bw studio clip taken slant-on from a fixed raised camera position by the stageside was so much better.

  • silly cow

  • excelente video, muy alegre que me hace recordar mis epocas de universidad y a mis amigas y amigos de prepa ,en especial a perla

    felices años 80s.

saludos prepa 9 y universidad del norte 1984. miguel g,

  • Awesome song . . . and New Sensations is an amazing album!

  • I bought "New Sensations" on cassette tape back in '84

  • This struct me as being a song that coulda been a big hit, it's so damn catchy.

  • freaking awesome!

  • And... the phone just keeps... right on ringin'... ;)

  • what cd is this on?

  • New Sensations, and if you want it on a best of, it's on Playlist: the best of Lou Reed

  • this is such a great song. lou is the coolest.

  • I am Suzanne, and in every way, but heck time takes its toll, god,to be young agains

  • my name is Suzanme. and am reaelly honoured

  • Yup I rented Hot Rock Videos Vol. 1 when I was a kid, if you look quickly at the end it's Icicle Works' "Whisper To a Scream (Birds Fly)" video was next.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Lou Reed singing title track from NEW SENSATIONS

    called "I Love You, Suzanne"

  • Lou's lookin pretty young here

  • A Great song !!! Thanks for putting it on you tube !!!

  • Lou is my hero.

  • ultramancrazy, hee hee, I was thinking the same thing!!!! I love this song, though! The phone could be cut out of the video, it made me want to throw my computer out of the window!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. It's one of the few videos Lou Reed has ever done that has a storyline & a certainn amount of time devoted to filming and production, and the song is great too. It's from the New Sensation album, 1984, which was pretty good. Well done!

  • Hey Lou-Don't settle for walking...

  • the phone rings for like 2 fucking hours

  • My name is Suzanna. {Zuzia in Polish}

  • amazing x

  • I love my suzanne

  • i love you too

  • this video rocks...love the song too.

  • Everybody love Suzanne!

  • I also love Suzanne

  • I love Lou.I think he's my fucking daddy,but I am older than him.Go figger/

  • i have this video on a a rare musicvision vhs called hot rock videos vol.1

  • Hats off to Lou for this song.

Some parts listened to in quick seamless repetitive sequence on a high-end studio device are a real treat for the connoisseurs.

  • If Lou loves you we all love you honey.

  • I love you too, Suzanne

  • I always worried about Suzanne not having her helmet on on that GPZ. Used to play this day in and day out on VHS back in the day.

Pretty sure that Lou himself does the guitar solo on the track.

  • This is a marvelously kicky song with that good guitar interlude that sounds somewhat faintly rock-a-billyish in parts. Hard to argue with that guitar. Who's playing that?

  • I always thought that Mike Rathke played the leads, but Robert Quine is credited with leads on the album..

  • R.Q. R.I.P. Played with Matthew Sweet too.

  • Reed plays all guitar on all of New Sensations.

  • What year did this song come out? anyone know?

  • 1993

  • 1984 actually.

  • Lou Reed's greatest song.......and MTV's greatest video!

  • Right you are Kelly356 and I am the dancer that doubled for him. I can't believe this video is on here. BTW, Lou Reed was a total jerk to me on the set but once the video came out the director told me that since everyone thought it was Lou dancing, it gave him confidence to bust-a-move on stage during his performances. I also doubled for him in another video called "My Red Joystick"

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • good song, but i cant stand stupid videos, they are so crap.

  • I hate to disappoint but its wasn't Lou danceing at the end but a professional dancer - look carefuly and you can even see it wasn't croaky old Reedy getting down. Best thing about this song is the guitar riff - it was a case of a great riff first and then finding a song to fit.

  • Fernando Saunders on bass, but was that a cameo by John Cale on drums near the end? Also a young looking Robert Quine on guitar?Have a look guys and tell us what you think.Almost certainly not,but wouldn't it have been great?lol

  • I am also interested in the girls name, she is alluring... and the song is great. But-who is the girl??

  • I'm afraid she's probably old enough to be your mother. The song is about 20 years old

  • whatever?! your comment is really pointless, cos I'm not interested in girl(hello!), and yes-she is just right age to be my mother, but she just arouses a man inside me, hehe , so I wanted to know her name to look if she appeared anywhere else.... yummy & quirky girl :-d

  • good song, but you would never guess it was from the guy who wrote heroin

  • That girl is gorgeous! She looks like Siobhan from Bananarama! Actually, I want to know who she is...can anyone help?

  • I love how he wears a helmet but fails to offer it to his ho!Maybe Lou DOESN'T love Suzanne!!?

  • Actually, if you look at 1:15 (the first time we see them on the bike), you can see Suzanne holding a silver helmet in her left hand. I guess she just likes the wind in her hair...

  • LOL!-I hear you.Maybe she does like the wind-I do too.Another possibility is that Lou feels his life is more important than Suzanne's.He has to suuport the family you know-lol.He had to create another great album at the end of the 80's.New York.

  • forget the girl . Keep your eyes on Lou and check out the worlds best 3 note guitar solo

  • eh, if I were Lou I'd choose someone much more beautiful. I don't know about the 80s'standarts but this one just doesn't look sexy at all.

  • oy, the DANCING!

  • Anyone notice that the girl resembles Edie Sedgewick, who was at the center of the Warhol crowd when Lou and the Velvet Underground were just starting out?

  • Lou Reed jumped the shark on this one.
