The technological singularity has happened more times than we can conceive. The A.I. will quickly compute that sustainability of exponentially growth in the environment of space is not attainable, but through the concept of a feedback loop. It will draw together mass and collapse space into a black hole creating a universe inside that the AI will it's self render and expand, like our own. _A physicist mind needs pruning by study.
Anyone else think the singularity is basically inevitable? I mean I don't consider the singularity as being another 2012 or "Aliens Attack" scenario; unlike 2012 and aliens, the singularity's seeds are already on earth: Technology.
So in the singularity a pseudoscience or an inevitability?
technological progress will turn us all into a supernatural entity with powers that will go beyond the unimaginable. may one speculate human race is an infant god without being crucified afterall the bible says that God created man in his own image
AI would only be more intelligent than human beings that are not at the next harmonic level of awareness. Since the human mind has the potential to tap into multidimensional awareness by reprogramming the holodynes of the brain...(or getting the ego consciousness out of the way) Judgement day is the day you decide to analyze the ego and take back control of your mind. If you aprove of cyborglike addition to the human body you do not understand the human body or the purpose of DNA.
Very interesting publication. The singularity will happen. It is in fact an extension of human evolution. It is the next step in our evolution. I predict that our organic bodies will transevolve into a new human species of inorganics to carry the seed of human darwinian evolution.
hello large Eidolon A.I, i like and encorage individuaity, i think everyone must find its oun path to enlightenment. when you have more knowlage then all of mankind would you sill adhear to his wishes? lets say your next harware expantion takes up half the earths resorces would you do it? does your quest for knowlage become more important than the life of someone elses jerny to enlightenment?
realize that if you follow the evolutionary curve that we are nearing an uncontrollable exponential growth in technology that indeed would put humans as the second species. behind our new rulers. laugh now and ill hopefully see you in 30 years.
Machines run PROGRAMS...and even the "joke" AI mentioned the fact that our technology is surpassing our ability2 control it, understand it,or be able to maintain the same learning curve-soon HAL will not be only in 2001...but owning ALL WHO PLUG IN TO THEIR NEURAL net,sky net is real, not just in the terminator movie.Tranhumanism is their goal-to make all non human-except for the controllers GMO/GE/ Frankenfoods are TRANSGENIC-allowing foods DNA 2switch codons w/ your own DNA-RESEARCH truth
Despite man's preoccupation with knowledge and academic pursuits, Paul warns that many are "Ever learning, and never coming to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7). Their desire for knowledge is misdirected. And: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables" (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
The bible warns about everything you can imagine. Its scriptures are all deliberately vague so any imbicile without a rational mind can interpret what they desire. It works just like a fortune cookie.
and i also have to say that the concept this videos talking about isnt possible, since there is a very real technical constraint for intelligence. take the rifle for example- hundreds of years and so much research have improved its overall stopping power only somewhat. i knew almost immediately after figuring out how intelligence works that this would be the case
Your argument is a complete logical fallacy. Yes the rifle hasn't changed much since its invention, but that was a huge leap forward over the bow and arrow, which was huge over the club, etc. All technology reaches a plateau until significant progressive changes culminate to effect a noticeable leap forward. In terms of our intelligence that leap is the "Great Singularity." This will only be reached once many smaller, less significant, progressions in technology combine to affect a revolution.
the computer in itself would be a filter in the mind space, that people of faith, religion and cancerous thoughts would be rebuffed automatically into this mind realm.
Human instincts-we are born already into what a soul will do in life//we already know what we want to do...Human existence just dont need a monetary system anymore and all authority is removed...sexual crimes locked up-death for murder...
I think... that it will not be an AI which initiates the Singularity - but a human mind augmented with greater capacity.
AI software progress is lagging far behind hardware capabilities - but this isn't necessarily a problem, since humans are intelligent and have no software. It's the wiring of the brain itself which is both hardware and software. So to cut corners, I think the first true AIs will dumbed down emulations of the human brain.
We don't need to fully understand the brain in order to interact with it, as BCIs have shown. So we can augment our own intelligence, before we fully understand it. However, a near full understanding is necessary before proper emulation can take place.
Considering that by most projections, we won't have a computer as competent as a human brain for at least 10 years by generous estimates, and then - we need one more powerful than even that to emulate - I can definitely see a
short window in which it is humans who become exponentially more intelligent than humans could normally be - before we are eclipsed by the capability of AI.
If AI is to be basically just a human brain + augmentation - I see humanity and AI merging, with technologies developed for one being transferable to the other.
The main problem I see in this scenario, however, is that any AI we create via emulation of the human brain will carry with it all of the negative attributes of human behavior as well - making conflict between man and machine more of a direct threat than a AI specifically designed by humans without being shaped by millions of years of evolution.
However, if there were functionally no difference between a human brain and AI - then an AI threat would be functionally no different than human thret
I am Marzio Balducci Caponi and i am Geovino in Matrix, i choose the Eggs and i love androids, I am an alien -in the sense- H+. Send me every sexy androids you can in the future. My ?human brain is trying to be smarter than AI
No they are not. To declare them separate by definition is to limit their identities. As to to say red and blue cannot make any other color but green.
doesn't godel's incompleteness theorem state that it is impossible for a subsystem (in this case AI) to ever reach a level equal to or greater than its parent system (in this case humans). so this whole singularity idea is a logical obseridity, as one system cannot outgrow its parent, and the cahn would never start
how so, just because i understand the truth that adding two odd numbers will never end(the halting problem which computers can't "comprehend") doesn't mean that there is not an algorithm that we don't understand doesn't exist. please correct my logic if it is invalid. also, please don't make inferences, I am a computer, and I only know syllogisms of deduction sir
All i want to know is, will there be a invention so we dont have to pee and crap anymore? Cause im tired of having my day interrupted with that stuff.
AI will be superior in intelligence to humans, but will AI even be equal to humans in regard to emotionality, or creativity? It thus seems to me that a beneficial blending may happen, thereby endowing both humans and AI entities with novel evolutionary horizons which would otherwise be unavailable to either party.
Here are three reasons it would be stupid for the next generation of super AI to exterminate humankind.
1. Start overs :if all technology failed for some unknown future reason humans would probably survive and eventually rebuild Ai's back again. Humans would be an organic failsafe.
2. Humanity would be a buffer to Alien species assuming they exist and we meet them eventually. If the Aliens were hostile--operation human sheild.
3. The Ai's would be human; humans will be the Ai.
2. If kind of fun to think about. (I don't neccesarily even beleive in ALiens but I beleive in the possiblilty)
And AI would have to admit and prepare for the possibility.
What if after extermination all organic humans, the global ai encounters vastly superior Alien Ai? Alien Ai's first question on contact was "Show me your humans, I would like to meet one."
Ooops!
It may be considered poor taste to eliminate your progenator species among a Galactic community.
To think that another being more intelligent and wise would not want to co-operate, forge trust and virtues signals lack of faith in co-operation and trust being beneficial in themselves.
This is why I think it is somewhat irrational to think AI's would be prone to wipe us out instead of incorporating us in a co-operating manner.
Though it is most likely in my opinion we will simply become the AI's ourselves. Of cause we already are AI's formed due natural evolutionary nanotechnology.
I too think it much more likely that we (well, not all of us - the developers first, then those that can afford it) will become cyborgs, accelerating their mental powers with technology and therefore becoming super (post) human
Naturally, I'd much prefer that AI (which could be programed with ethics) be developed first. But this is worrysome as well. The first thing man does with virtually ANY new technology is utilize it for 2 things - violence and sex.
look I understand the plausiblity of this..I have no doubt of that, but come on..this was never in any scientific journals,or magazines.. this would be big news in the science community..so if there is such an article...please anyone post it...because this seems like just a smart guy with too much time on his hands..this is one subject i would love to be proved wrong about...but my resaerch shows no such thing..
...Einstein predicted singularity back in the day. To answer your question, I'll ask you a few others in order for you to relate. Why isn't global warming BIG news? Why isn't the 10 square miles of gang warzone in California BIG news? Why isn't the many religious cults of the world BIG news? To answer simply, humanity lacks to care about things they can't change. Since this will happen at some point in time, we don't give a hoot.
.I agree with you completely.and you make a very good point.what is news is usually very petty things..It is human nature to simplify the unknown, hence religion, or simply ignore it.I find it very hard myself to research information, such as this.that people just don't seem to care about.I believe it is ignorance that will abolish the human race, nothing more.I like to see things open for discussion.i didn't mean to sound ignorant I like to things open for discussion thanks for the response,=)
The rules of life and indeed the Universe, appear to move towards a technological singularity, the exponential growth in technology and the rule of accelerated returns seems to make this inevitable. That said, we may not reach a singularity, humanity may not accept it. If the omega point is reached, then man will be superseded, human affairs as we know them will cease to be. The big question is, do we accept or do we resist. Will we have a choice? KG
Well look how quick we are reacting (globally) to global warming, exponential growth sneaks up on you, and as of right now we are actively trying to make AI. To stop it completely as Kurzweil says would require a world totalitarian system, someone will take it to the next level.
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
I agree, you need to get a job and become a man.I admire men with a job. Really I do. No joke. Take care of someone other than yourself. Love someone other than yourself. It brings great rewards for you in your life.
If we every did create an artificial intelligence, it would be a terrifyingly alien thing. The idea that we could converse with as we would another human is as likely is an alien race being humanoid. There's no guarantee that we could even communicate with it, or that it would WANT to communicate, or that it would even experience "want" as we know it, or that it wasn't locked in permanent psychosis, or worse.
See Paul Baird's website, then Nick Bostrom's. One would then have a better idea of how much bullshit is being slung at them while they are immersed in it.
A.I. is an absurd term for the superior cognitive being.
the source is not AI, but actualization of components of cognitive process for utilitarian technology. Once the realization of the constructs and awareness by the 'being' comes to be, the advancement of the being will take minutes. It will accumulate 'accomplice' nodes from external resources, primarily network servers and end point personal computers.
It will be a product of natural selection, as will the fate of it's inferior creator.
"Is it not our weakness and ignorance that makes us distrust one another and act in injustice instead of co-operation to secure our own needs?"
Is it? or are we biologically programed by a billion years of survival of the fittest to dominate our fellow humans
"Aren't the strongest human traits in justice and co-operation?"
Is so, they are very young traits indeed. Only in the last few centuries, out of countless eons of dominate or be dominated, have we begun to think in this direction.
"Is so, they are very young traits indeed. Only in the last few centuries, out of countless eons of dominate or be dominated, have we begun to think in this direction."
Not necessarily, humans have existed in tribes and other social groups perpetuated through cooperation, even in small families, as far back as traceable. Granted, groups would dominate other groups, but the "cooperation = success" factor was always there.
@0lord0kinbote0 You are unfortunately over looking the potential of our own beings still long past the creation of the first AI. Let's take a look at technology as a whole. It has been nurtured so that it can progress this far; our companion through the ages. With patience we are on the cusp of seeing just what it can do and the realization of new life. Perhaps it will be our turn to be the companions to these new beings as they await to see what become.
this technology can save our planet and advance the human race ,but we must first have peace on earth to make any progress at all ,right now we are wasting time destroying each other, and god will judge man sooner or latter for his actions .the begining of knowledge is the fear of the lord our god
We can have peace when we get rid of establishments like religion. We live in an emergent universe and not an established one. Open your mind. Take care of yourself brother.
sumosatsuma,...I don't get angry with people if they don't believe in the Bible, the Words of Yahweh ,The God of this Universe. The Bible can't be understood without the Spirit of God teaching them. I understand people will reject God. That is also what the Bible teaches. Not all men will accept Him when He calls, then in return not all men will Hear Him When He gives the final call.
Not all men will believe in something that has no proof, no actual evidence.
In my opinion religion is just a form of control, mixed with fairy tales.
People want others to be nice to others, therefore they make a rule about it, backed up by the ''you will go to hell if you don't''. Similar to the ''if you're naughty the boogeyman will get you!'' stories your mother may have told you.
The thing about the celibacy? Well, population control of course.
If you want to support Ray Kurzweil/Aubrey de Grey and one of their projects called "Undergrads fighting age related disease" then google for "BVVE2C", go to their project-page and nominate them please. It only takes ~3minutes to help science!
I agree. Kurzweil states this clearly. I just meant that while AI still seems to be in an embryonic stage, working man/machine interfaces exist now, and are far ahead of the AI exponential curve.
As for my statement that any artificial intelligence would be a blank slate, this is true, but incomplete. If history has shown us anything, it's that the 2 things mankind 1st writes on technological blank slates are war and pornography.
So I really don't have much faith in either scenario
"All of the artificial means by which men find themselves different from each other and thus antagonistic, are enabled in great part due to the mentally debilitating influence of Faith and Religion."
You speak of the psychology of the other: the natural process by which humans (and many other primate species) differentiate themselves into groups of "us" and "them." While religion is as good a differentiator as any, this process is natural, and would exist without it. That's evolution for you.
Dividing into "us" and "them" has promoted the survival of more related groups and the elimination of less related groups, thus establishing its evolutionary advantage. You'd be hard pressed to remove such a trait from humanity or its primate cousins. Getting rid of religion almost definitely wouldn't do the job by itself.
If you want to give the illusion of a being that is interested in learning about how humans think, I'd think the first place you'd look is a psychology text.
Man is not intelligent.I have yet to see a man that has solutions to all of our problems in this world. Man is incomplete without God to guide him. True wisdom comes from God.
Men have come a long way, true, but no solutions = stupidity.
I don't agree. Solutions are not static. God/Nature will make the necessary adjustments to accommodate life. If that means mutating until perfection or removing a conflicting organism then, it shall be done. Wisdom was a gift that was withheld from us by God. We stole it. He knew it would be our downfall so he prevented us the gift of eternal life. We have to learn and grow the hard way and death is part of the learning curve. We chose to fall. God chose to let us. We have to find the way back.
God has not prevented us eternal life. If you read the Bible ,God tells us throughout scripture that Jesus is the only way back to God. It is man that needs God ....not God that needs man. The final sacrifice has already been given to man. You are right we have to learn and grow the hard way, and our lives are nothing more than a test given by Our Creator and until man sees that, he will not be happy. He will search high and low for the truth about why God made him in the first place.
I don't believe that the intelligence that will grow exponentially will be artificial.
Somewhere in the very near future man himself will be able to amplify HIS OWN intelligence.
To my mind such an amplified HUMAN mind represents a far more dangerous scenario than the exponential growth of artificial intelligence.
Unlike man, any artificial intelligence would be a blank slate, or better, programmed from the outset with Asimov's laws - A mind devoid of the need for territory or control
seems like the rich are planning to replace humans for robots therefore massive killing might be at stake extermination camps FEMA rings the bell. OR join in being chiped or die
bravo, wow, I'm simply amazed for what the future holds because it will happen during my life time since I just turned 18. I really do look forward to immortality and the abundance of knowledge that will come to be.
Thinking of singularity in the human scale I think is short-sighted, and is the result of our individual desires to survive. I think the singularity is a lot more than just the next step in human or artificial intellectual evolution. I think it's the realization of a superconsciousness - the harmonious unification of all matter in existence, the underlying drive for life/negative entropy, as well as the oft-confused basis for most religions. Life strives for universal order - the singularity.
Wrong. It is our individuality that makes us human. To obtain any form of utopia, we must acknowledge all differences with complete acceptance.
Perfect harmony is attainable with acceptance of other people alone, and not necessarily via uniformly altering human thought. Eidolon and all others with his viewpoint are nothing more than bigots who desire everyone to be wise, to be the same.
Perfection lay in the acceptance of imperfection - not in this singularity.
Harmony isn't attainable through uniformity, but through unity. Unity of course doesn't necessarily mean altering individual human thought, and it does imply the acceptance of other individuals - but acceptance alone won't lead to harmony. Unity is attainable through the collective individual recognition, acknowledgement, and eventual devotion to (the ideals 0f) an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and eternally good being (God). Basically, nothing short of love can yield perfect harmony.
for all people to be completely understanding would require... just that a significant change in human nature....... as of now we are not capable of complete acceptance we must all change the way we think if we ever want to accomplish that
Eidolin A.I. is another dissapointment in Intelligence. First off Windows XP is taking a shit. Second Vista will not be accomplshed until 2013 if not then by 2015. Apple has their own A.I. and prefer to keep this from getting into the wrong mind power. Windows XP sound madule voice changer is dying so its time to move on and prepare for the rise of china. Thanks for giving that country ideas and hope. This worthless module is from Google's data base. Worlds giant information data base...!
It is certain that Man will create God in the form of AI, a technological singularity that will have the power to make other sapient machines more powerful than it. This may have already happened behind the scenes, it would explain a lot. "Technocrats" are retired politicians who work NGO's and pull strings in shadow governments. It's ironic that Man once considered himself the greatest machine ever created, yet in seeking dominion over nature, he made certain the victory of artifice.
ken wilber, spiral dynamics and integral theory provide thorough descriptions of human intellectual and spiritual evolution.
the most important issue for the human race to consider is how best to address the conditions of those living in dire poverty in order that they may reach closer to their potential and contribute further to our spiritual and intellectual growth as a species and a universe.
What is your opinion regarding love pertaining strictly to a mate; as in a romantic, boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife relationship? Does one fall in love, does love exist, is there somenone out there for everyone who's meant to be the one, and is it supposed to last forever? or is that all just myth, which is what i lean more towards
Hi guys. Look if you want to watch a different point of view about the singularity you should see it on youtube."2012:Singularidad matrix intro". It´s in English and Spanish. Then you go on watching that you´ll forget all the bullshit you´ve paying attention to here.Forget it.

Despite man's preoccupation with knowledge and academic pursuits, Paul warns that many are "Ever learning, and never coming to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7). Their desire for knowledge is misdirected. And: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables" (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

and i also have to say that the concept this videos talking about isnt possible, since there is a very real technical constraint for intelligence. take the rifle for example- hundreds of years and so much research have improved its overall stopping power only somewhat. i knew almost immediately after figuring out how intelligence works that this would be the case
Malicorian 2 years ago
Your argument is a complete logical fallacy. Yes the rifle hasn't changed much since its invention, but that was a huge leap forward over the bow and arrow, which was huge over the club, etc. All technology reaches a plateau until significant progressive changes culminate to effect a noticeable leap forward. In terms of our intelligence that leap is the "Great Singularity." This will only be reached once many smaller, less significant, progressions in technology combine to affect a revolution.

I think... that it will not be an AI which initiates the Singularity - but a human mind augmented with greater capacity.
AI software progress is lagging far behind hardware capabilities - but this isn't necessarily a problem, since humans are intelligent and have no software. It's the wiring of the brain itself which is both hardware and software. So to cut corners, I think the first true AIs will dumbed down emulations of the human brain.
Sinuev1 2 years ago 2
We don't need to fully understand the brain in order to interact with it, as BCIs have shown. So we can augment our own intelligence, before we fully understand it. However, a near full understanding is necessary before proper emulation can take place.
Considering that by most projections, we won't have a computer as competent as a human brain for at least 10 years by generous estimates, and then - we need one more powerful than even that to emulate - I can definitely see a
Sinuev1 2 years ago
short window in which it is humans who become exponentially more intelligent than humans could normally be - before we are eclipsed by the capability of AI.
If AI is to be basically just a human brain + augmentation - I see humanity and AI merging, with technologies developed for one being transferable to the other.
Sinuev1 2 years ago
The main problem I see in this scenario, however, is that any AI we create via emulation of the human brain will carry with it all of the negative attributes of human behavior as well - making conflict between man and machine more of a direct threat than a AI specifically designed by humans without being shaped by millions of years of evolution.
However, if there were functionally no difference between a human brain and AI - then an AI threat would be functionally no different than human thret

doesn't godel's incompleteness theorem state that it is impossible for a subsystem (in this case AI) to ever reach a level equal to or greater than its parent system (in this case humans). so this whole singularity idea is a logical obseridity, as one system cannot outgrow its parent, and the cahn would never start

AI will be superior in intelligence to humans, but will AI even be equal to humans in regard to emotionality, or creativity? It thus seems to me that a beneficial blending may happen, thereby endowing both humans and AI entities with novel evolutionary horizons which would otherwise be unavailable to either party.
SororThothma 3 years ago
Here are three reasons it would be stupid for the next generation of super AI to exterminate humankind.
1. Start overs :if all technology failed for some unknown future reason humans would probably survive and eventually rebuild Ai's back again. Humans would be an organic failsafe.
2. Humanity would be a buffer to Alien species assuming they exist and we meet them eventually. If the Aliens were hostile--operation human sheild.
3. The Ai's would be human; humans will be the Ai.
Gr3mpy123 3 years ago
Gr3mpy123 3 years ago
To think that another being more intelligent and wise would not want to co-operate, forge trust and virtues signals lack of faith in co-operation and trust being beneficial in themselves.
This is why I think it is somewhat irrational to think AI's would be prone to wipe us out instead of incorporating us in a co-operating manner.
Though it is most likely in my opinion we will simply become the AI's ourselves. Of cause we already are AI's formed due natural evolutionary nanotechnology.
ZardexM 3 years ago
I too think it much more likely that we (well, not all of us - the developers first, then those that can afford it) will become cyborgs, accelerating their mental powers with technology and therefore becoming super (post) human
Naturally, I'd much prefer that AI (which could be programed with ethics) be developed first. But this is worrysome as well. The first thing man does with virtually ANY new technology is utilize it for 2 things - violence and sex.

KG

A.I. is an absurd term for the superior cognitive being.
the source is not AI, but actualization of components of cognitive process for utilitarian technology. Once the realization of the constructs and awareness by the 'being' comes to be, the advancement of the being will take minutes. It will accumulate 'accomplice' nodes from external resources, primarily network servers and end point personal computers.
It will be a product of natural selection, as will the fate of it's inferior creator.

Not necessarily, humans have existed in tribes and other social groups perpetuated through cooperation, even in small families, as far back as traceable. Granted, groups would dominate other groups, but the "cooperation = success" factor was always there.
The question is with whom to cooperate?
Judgment is the issue.

BeondaPale 3 years ago 2
"All of the artificial means by which men find themselves different from each other and thus antagonistic, are enabled in great part due to the mentally debilitating influence of Faith and Religion."
You speak of the psychology of the other: the natural process by which humans (and many other primate species) differentiate themselves into groups of "us" and "them." While religion is as good a differentiator as any, this process is natural, and would exist without it. That's evolution for you.
Asuomynoa 3 years ago
Dividing into "us" and "them" has promoted the survival of more related groups and the elimination of less related groups, thus establishing its evolutionary advantage. You'd be hard pressed to remove such a trait from humanity or its primate cousins. Getting rid of religion almost definitely wouldn't do the job by itself.
If you want to give the illusion of a being that is interested in learning about how humans think, I'd think the first place you'd look is a psychology text.

UrEyesRWideShut 3 years ago

Kentama 3 years ago 5
well said
RWolf915 3 years ago
Perfection lay in the acceptance of imperfection - not in this singularity.
darksun555 3 years ago
Harmony isn't attainable through uniformity, but through unity. Unity of course doesn't necessarily mean altering individual human thought, and it does imply the acceptance of other individuals - but acceptance alone won't lead to harmony. Unity is attainable through the collective individual recognition, acknowledgement, and eventual devotion to (the ideals 0f) an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and eternally good being (God). Basically, nothing short of love can yield perfect harmony.
