BEST ANSWER on this subject: I do not like to get in the habit of saying one style is better than others. In regards to karate as a sport-I believe tournament compeition, that while it has some benefits, it does create a mindset and habits that will not work for actual combat. I also agree that when you can not attck the joints, eyes, throat, fingers, groin, etc that a true martial artist would not be able to effectively use their style.

osu,I am with shotokan International(SKIF),we are learning this kata from a GojuKai Shihan,which our Shihan invited to our dojo.Kancho Kanazawa himself practices several Goju Ryu Katas.I love the Okinawian styles.

Damn its crazy...I used to learn this exact same kata about 20 years ago from a guy from Canada. Of course that guy from Canada was my Sensei, who was also the highest ranking Sensei in Canada at the time, with regards to Okinawa Goju Ryu. When you see it first hand, its easy to recongnize the importance of tradition.
