  • Wow. It's kinda touching that just by chance Gussie is being remembered long after she was forgotten. Really powerful project guys, nice one.

  • I know a person whose last name is Seamans, and another person whose initials are A-S-S. And that's not even mentioning the family I know with the name Hole, and the other with the name Fast. I'm telling you; California= bad names.

  • i met a girl who's last name was Fok

  • Nerdfighters FTW!

  • I went to high school with a girl, and I swear to god I am not making this up, named Gretchen Kuntz.

  • Nerdfighteria is ridiculously amazing at doing things.

  • Your video is a favorite on Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • for whatever reason that song made me laugh uncontrolably

  • What's song number 6?

  • I looked back into my family tree and found a line of small medieval kings the most awesomely named of which is Toirdhealbhach an Fhíona Ó Domhnaill, Rí Tír Chonaill, to give him his full title. In English its Turlough "of the Wine" O'Donnell but tbh that's not nearly as awesome looking!

  • Worst name for me: there's a kid in my class named Wii Wang

  • I do genealogy stuff, and i have a relative named hannah manlove

  • U DREW ON A MARTIN

  • this needs to be a thing of theirs

  • My birthday is March 8th... Great Day for a concert... that I won't be at...

  • Did she have any kids beside Mary? Did she had any part in Mary's life?

  • @noosaho Though your comment is two months old, I'd thought I'd address it. I was part of the team that looked into this. We exhausted every lead and looked at as many records as we could find. It was concluded that the date on the tombstone in Knightstown was wrong. We never found out why it was wrong or who even bought and lettered the gravestone, but we have confirmed several times over that her actual birth year was in fact 1883.

  • I'm 15 and we have a girl named Gussie in our class.

  • His face during "That's Not My Name" is priceless.

  • First ever vlogbrothers video i watched. I was never going back.

  • 1:42 All By Myself by Celine Dion?

Although Hank's version is rather off key, that song is the first song I thought of after I was done laughing at Hank wailing into his impromptu microphone.

  • Ok not to diminish the effort of Nerdfighteria, but can someone explain to me how Gussie's birthdate changed? In the first video it is 1887 and in this video it is 1883, check for yourself I am not lying

  • @sgtfwoods Maybe 'cause birth dates were sketchy back then? Not sure, though...I didn't notice that.

  • As an author with a huge imagination and someone who is extremely fascinated by the past I have to say this is my favorite VlogBrothers installment ever! To think that it all began because of one man's curiosity over an unfinished gravestone. That's just....so amazing.

  • Saw this before the original only took a week to solve good job to the people that figured this out. I wouldn't even know how to start.

  • Laiba Butt

  • I would like to point out that apparently when Gussie died as a Brown she took her husbands year of birth. Because she is originally born in 1887 but then later listed as 1883 the year her original husband (manlove) was born. weird...

  • Ben Dover and Stan Still ;)

  • Harry Dick

  • What happened to Gussie' daughter dammit

  • Never underestimate the power of Nerdfightaria.

  • This is sensational.

  • arrrg u were at a planetarium i regularly go to on my birthday and i missed u DX >.< T.T ;.;

  • bravo detectives!

  • My cousin had a student named Shithead pronounced Shi-theed... It was a girl

  • @berndawg123 isn't that a youtube video?

  • you're right, everyone loves horsey manlove...*shudder*

  • Props to all the Nerdfighters who got to the bottom of this! Props to Hank for all adorable lyrics made to this interesting situation

  • Mybee you like this "baby name game" by ynotbush me Anthony Bush and Mom Shila Ann Jones. Who ever you people are?

  • does yourpants still exist? i can never get it to work.

  • @cupcakes1348 It got hacked a few months ago, they've been trying to get it up again for a while.

  • i feel really sorry for gussy, she has a messed up life

  • In Nerdfightaria, we stalk random strangers and look inside their houses.

  • Am I the only one bothered by the improper use of the word "née" in the description? The French word literally translates to born. She was not born as Gussie Manlove or Gussie Gowen.

  • Have you guys seen this?

    /watch?v=18HTjknWc4c&feature=relmfu

  • She outlived alllll her husbands 0_e coincidence??? I don't think sooo...

  • At least she didn't call herself Horsey Manlove.

  • Whoa, jeez, guys. I appreciate all the help with number four, but I already corrected myself. You really don't need to tell me anymore. I got it. "All by Myself" by Eric Carmen. :)

  • @vlogbrothers um.... Gussie Audrey was born in 1887 and Audrey G Brown was born in 1883... what's up with that?

  • This is my favourite video on all of youtube.

  • Igor Goeken

  • Can you imagine being Gussie? Living your life unaware that some day a bunch of people you don't know will summarise everything you did to a 4 minute video?

  • Comment removed

  • so i'm confused because the original tombostone (where she wasn't buried) said she was born in 1887 and the tombstone that people found at the end says she was born in 1883... any explanations? or was it just bad record keeping?

  • @ecofreak303 Women of this time often lied about their ages.

  • wow ive been to the science museam so many times when i was little and i still live around it but i wish i saw this video earlier lol :\

  • Gussie's birthday is different on the two grave markers. Interesting.

  • I have a neighbor named Anders Kolind pronounced anus colon and its very unfortunate

  • Now we just have to track down her daughter....

  • Now we just have to track down her daughter....

  • i wonder if a nerdfighter is living in that house now :P

  • I felt it saddening that she was not buried with Manlove. I mean, from the idea that they were married four years and he died, not divorced, I would like to think that they still had much love for each other, and a gravestone together also seems like the kind of thing you'd decided on his deathbed. But then again, it's not like she was going to say to her final husband "oh dude, sorry, but I kind of have this other tombstone"...

She put herself in an awkard position...

  • Did he say "Nardfigteria"?

    Fighting in the name of...nards?

  • toothbrush head. the parents let their 6-year-old name the new baby.

  • my mom knew someone at her work who had a daughter shithead.....pronounced shthee-ed lol

  • ...née Horsey. ... XD Am I the only one that finds this hilarious?!

  • My family name on my mother's side is Wimp. That's the worst name I've ever heard.

  • Sorry, I don't understand this. Can someone please re-explain it?

  • WAIT...SHE MARRIED DARTH VADER!!!???

  • @devonriley415 you're thinking of james earl jones

  • That is so cool

  • I wonder if there's a nerdfighter living in that house now? We should figure out who's living there... because we do stuff like that.

  • I kind of feel like we adopted this lady after she died.

  • What are the songs that Hank bases his songs on? Can anyone tell me?

  • @sarahedwards2

    1) 0:15 "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?"

    2) 0:42 "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by The Police

    3) 0:57 "White Wedding" by Billy Idol

    4) 1:42 I honestly have no clue for this one.

    5) 1:57 "That's Not My Name!" by The Ting Tings

    6) 2:36 This one might not be based off of another song. Too many original lyrics for me to search.

Warning. I'm only sure of 3 and 5.

    DFTBA.

  • @KadenKryptonite

    4) All By Myself I don't know who it's by

  • @KadenKryptonite 1 and 2 are also right. DFTBA

  • @KadenKryptonite 4 is All By Myself by Eric Carmen

  • @ISBN1231 Thank you!

  • @KadenKryptonite 3) all by myself duhh :p

  • @KadenKryptonite 3 is 'all by myself'

  • @GONEmypurpleflapjack I think they were joking.

  • @KadenKryptonite 4 I assume is "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen

  • @KadenKryptonite I think number 4 is "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen

  • @KadenKryptonite At 1:42 the song is called "all by myself" but i'm not sure who it's originally by.

  • Comment removed

  • @KadenKryptonite 1:42 is "All by Myself" by Celine Dion

  • @KadenKryptonite you are definitely right about #2

  • @KadenKryptonite # 4 is "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen.

  • @KadenKryptonite

    4) "All By Myself" by Celine Dion

  • @KadenKryptonite The third one, I believe, is Hank's rendition of "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen...if very off-key. :) DFTBA!

  • @KadenKryptonite #4 Is All by myself Celine Dion and #6 does sound familiar though not sure what

  • @Wesleyintheory did you just say that All by myself is by Celine Dion ???? HEADDESK###

  • @rayhs1984 Yes I did. She did a cover of it, I wasn't sure who the original was by. The only one I remember hearing was the Dion one. It got stuck in my head because she belts out one of the notes in the song as if it makes it better. It was back when she was popular in music

  • Is it me or does he look like America/Alfred F Jones from Hetalia in this vid?

  • @Kuruy0 OMG, you see it too?? :'D

  • 0:09-0:12 Try saying THAT 5 times fast!

  • Those are EPIC songs!

  • my dad knew a person named Harry Toes... why is it that Harry's always have bad last names?

  • The worst name I've ever heard is an old British TV chef called Fanny Craddock. Considering where I come from (and where she was from) fanny means something very different to what it means in the US so her name was basically Vagina Craddock.

  • i wonder if gussie/audrey knew that there would soon be a video about her whole life viewed by 169,698 people...

i'd be kinda creeped out alot.

  • I wonder what happened to Gussie's daughter?

  • thank you @VanillaOrchid95 i never knew that before!

  • what's the née for?

  • @crazycookie76

Ne`e is a way to show maiden names. Marie Sklodowska marries Pierre Curie, she becomes Marie Curie ne`e Sklodowska.

  • No word of a lie, there was a guy in my hometown named Harry Legg. My grandparents knew him somehow. That's probably the weirdest name of a real person I've ever heard.

  • For the well-being of his tormented soul I wish I were kidding, but there was a guy in my school called Dan Druff.

I also once managed to find myself in a bizarre conversation with a guy on a train who insisted his name was Chunk, but I'll leave that memory on the train for sanity's sake.

  • My best friend knows a boy that's called Danger. His family is native of Latin America (Central, I think), so it's actually pronounced Dahn-her. Yep, I've always wanted to meet Danger. Just wanted to share this for no reason at all.

i love that nerdfighters put so much time and effort into finding this woman's story.

she was just a woman from indiana with her name on a tombstone, who no one really remembered or cared about...

but the nerdfighters put hours of work into uncovering her whole story

and now thousand's of people know the life story of a widowed typesetter from the midwest..

    it's kind of amazing

  • @addiesays Iwas thinking that too! Such an interesting life that anyone else would've walked right by after a moment of wondering where she was, not knowing where she'd been.

  • I CAN'T believe i missed the planetarium show ;|

  • Carol O. Jones... while her name isn't bad, the company she works for has a username policy of first initial, middle initial, and last name... so her company user ID is...

    cojones

  • The songs you included in there make the video so much more awesome. And even without them, it would be so awesome.

  • My dad knew a guy called Hugh Janus.

    Yeah.

  • It sounds like she had a very sad life.

  • I heard of someone named Assad Butt.

Also met a boy named Atul.

  • I hope some amazing people like these make some kind of strange complicated video about my life after i die. <3

  • if i wasn't 14 id buy that house

  • I absolutely love that Nerdfighteria found all this.

    Amazing!

  • The worst name I ever heard was Barb Dwire.

What an unlikely marriage that was.

  • I have a friend his name is Collin Harry Pickell, I also had a friend named B.J. Woodcock.
