Okay. I'm missing something. Why is Salome covered up??? Why does the set look like something out of the 80's movie Tron? And last but definitely not least, why does he step away from Salome and not actually kill her? I booed too! lol This was a mess.

hm klingt eigentlich plausibel, aber dann fragt man sich, wieso er mit dem hackebeil herumläuft. jochanaan hat er ja sicherlich nicht selbst enthauptet, und wieso er plötzlich, obwohl tyrann, fast selbst zuschlägt, bleibt, finde ich unklar... außerdem verlangt die musik nach einem totschlag und der findet in ermangelung anwesender soldaten nicht statt... wem befiehlt er also?

außerdem glaube ich, dass die blaue decke unsinn ist. selbst wenn die situation sehr "privat" ist, sind wir durch die musik mit drin in dem sack und eben nicht beobachter von außen...

Nagano ist wirklich ein Spitzendirigent. Was das Finale allerdings noch mit Gesang zu tun hat, weiß ich auch nicht. Und solche Leute wie Mussbach sollten lebenslänglich Hausverbot in sämtlichen Opernhäusern erhalten. Eine Frechheit den Leuten für ihr schwer verdientes Geld so einen Scheiß anzubieten. Die Verantwortlichen in Dresden sollten sich was schämen. Kein Wunder, daß bei soviel Dilettantismus die Oper immer unpopulärer wird. Ein absolutes Armutszeugnis für die Semperoper!

Die Frage ist weswegen man in die Oper geht... Aber man muss sagen, bei dieser großartigen Strauss-Musik kann man, aber muss man natürlich nicht, diese zugegeben sehr fragwürdige Inszenierung "vergessen", bzw. einfach die Augen zumachen....

What is the point of this production? The listener gets no sense of what's actually going on...they were right to boo it. I mean, Salome is supposed to be killed in the end!

This performance is stunning and bonechilling. It's as if Salome is going through a "rebirthing" procedure, and trying to reverse Jochanaan's death and return to an innocent childhood. The ending is also ambiguous. Normally, I don't care for Eurotrash productions, but this snippet is intriguing.

Is this some kind of reference to the burqas or something like that? Definitely, I didn't understand what's the point in this production. But Herlitzius is very good. A beautiful and expressive voice.
