The ship crash lands, skids, destroying dozens of cars, crashes into the convention center, totally destroying it, possibly injuring innocent people, destroying thousands of dollars of merchandise, and it's an alien technology that the government would love to examine...and yet, everyone's like, "The cast is here, YAY!" the Omega 13 is a brilliant plot device. Its use is kinda hinted at throughout the film but when everything appears to be over and you've forgotten about the O13, everything goes to hell and it saves the day. This movie is a real piece of work (in a good way).
