Hi Well you help me.... See those two feet behind you? My feet are not flat and they are exactly like the one to the right! Is that fixable? Please, give me as much information as you can on it!
I got these peroblem for many years. Since I was 12 years old I am now 38 and I got to the doctor and removed twice in my life and the condition comes back. There should be a Surgery that keep the nail from growing back so that can be a worth solution.
@filipride100 unfortunately, there is nothing that you can buy. I've had ingrown toenails twice. The first time, they clipped it and 6 months later, it was back. The second time, they clipped it and put something (medical grade) on it to kill the root of the nail on the side that I had the ingrown nail on. I think this stuff was called fenal. Granted I might be wrong or have misspelled it but I think it's right. If it happens again, ask your podiatrist about it!
I have a similar problem, I've just had my third operation to remove the ingrown nail and my doctor did use fenal (however you spell it) and I have noticed the effect of it, it has taken much longer than usual for the nail to grow back from the root . This may not work for everyone but it may be worth asking your GP to buy you some extra time and pain between trimming again. Hope that helped someone.
hi, i have had ingrown toenails 3 times. i just got one taken out again the other day and right now it's healing. however, i'm afraid that it might grow back again in the same place causing an ingrown again. is there an ointment or medication i can buy to treat my toenail so that it will not grown back into an ingrown again. i would much appreciate it if you know one. thanks!
I did ths to myself. worked great. Not something "I" would go to a doctor for. I wouldn't suggest what I did for other people though. Its not safe if you don't know what you are doing.
@GodzGamerz nope it truly depends on surgeons experience first time i got their it felt abit sore when they put the needle but after few more of them in time i dont feel at all
I had mine done last week by the NHS. To be honest the only thing that hurt was the injection. but after that no pain. but now i cant play sports for six weeks but i'd rather have no more pain in the foot than put on a little weight. Thank you NHS!!!!
@ToXiCIzCr4zY You cut a "V" shape into the middle of the toe nail which alledgedly would force the nail to fix the V and shrink in, getting rid of the ingrown.
HUH I WENT TO THE DOCTOR YESTERDAY JUNE-24-10 AND THEY TOOK THE SIDES OF MY NAIL OUT THE DOCTRO SAID THAT I HAVE TO STOP CUTTING THE NAIL WRONG AND I HAVE TO GO SEE HIM WENT MY NAIL IS BIG SO HE COULD CUT MY NAIL OUT....I HATED INGROWN TOENAIL...THIS HAPPEND TO ME EVERY MONTH....AND I DONT WANT TO BE LIKE THAT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE....CUZ I WANNA HVE FUN GO EVERYWHERE WITHOUT MY NAIL HURTING....
@chauchauuu one thing that will stop it from hurting is to get a bowl put about a half cut of salt in it and fill it with hot water as hot as you can stand it and this will help draw out all of the puss and infection and stop it from hurting. also clean it with hydrogen peroxide two or three times a day. this is what ive done with mine and most of the time it works. if that doesnt work after about a week go see a doctor because it will only get worse
I just had 4 done and in the uk they use a new thing where they a apply a harmless acid after the section of the nail is removed, the acid is applied to the nail roots so it kills of some of the non needed nail
Ok, if you get an ingrown toenail NEVER and I mean NEVER!!!!!! Cut the side of the toenail yourself, because if it ends up having to go into the quik then thats a 100% chance to have to go to the podiatrist...
I have one on my left foot and i have got surgery in 2 weeks im not so scared anymore because i know it wont hurt and if you wish you can be put to sleep my tonail only needs the sides removed but it was my fualt i cut my nails in a curve but all u have to do to help the pain is to see ur doctor and get anti biotics and soak your foot in warm soapy water or take painkillers
they will put an injection in all 4 corners of the toe near the nerve it will be a sharp stabbing pain then they will cut down the nail plate leaving a straight edge and put it in a bandage try pharmacy type nurofen i did that when i had the one on the left hand side of my left toenail removed now the same has happened to the right hand side i'm gonna have it taken out by the podiatrist i have to wait 3 weeks after my appointment at the surgery
Hey! I definatley have an ingrowing toenail and I will be seeing the doctor next week. My mum made the appointment though and I don't think she actually said it was an ingrowing nail, so will they remove it immediatly or will I have to wait? Please answer ASAP so I know what to expect!
they wouldnt do that, its such a minor procedure, with lidocaine you wouldnt feel it. you could do it without any numbing and itd be painful but no unbearable
GamingFront: From my experiënce it's free if this is done in your local GP's surgery areä, if they do of course handle small operations. However, some hospitals may require a health insurance claim or an upfront payment.
Hopefully, my operation (which has been booked for August) should hopefully be a success. Until then, I've just got to grin and bear it and thank nature I have my other foot available as a backup.
I dont know about this but when and if I press down on my big toes toe nail it hurts does that mean I have a ingrowen toenail cause it doesn't perce throught the sides of my toe it just really hurts if I touch my nail can someone please help me and tell me if I need surgery.
You definetly have an ingrown toenail. Hopefully, you've already gone to the pediatrist but if not, GO IMMEDIATELY! I went today and the doctor actually had to cut away skin because it was that far in there.
i used to have one on my left toe, on both sides. The left side has completely gone on its own, but the right side of my left toe is still sore. I use Vitamin E oil, it seems to take the redness out of the are, and i think its gonna get rid of it once and for all
Now this is quite interesting, though it's not really reassuring.
At the moment the nail on my right big toe is cutting into both sides and a fold of skin has grown over one side. And it's likely I'll need to go for another operation in less than a year after I had one in December for the big toe on my other foot.
Because I've had so many infections in the past I'm weary of mentioning this to my mother at this stage - although whether or not I tell her I'll try going about this by myself.
omg i have a ingrown toenail at the left corner of my toe on the left foot. and my doctor told me to push it out away form the nail and w8 for the nail to grow back outside.last thing is i have to put my foot in warm salt water 4 times a day. should i just do wat he says or just get a surgery
my toenail is ingrown now im pretty sure, its really deep on the right side and hurts bad when i touch the top, i tried to cut it myself but it didnt get all of it, now its all cut up and hurts to even touch it,
for the last 4 days ive just bin drowning it in anti bacterial gel trying to keep out infection.
i hope it will somehow get better on its own, if not i guess ill have to get this done
yeah, thats EXACTLY what happened to me! ugh. yeah. now its all cut up and swollen.
when i was first getting one, i cut it before it got worse. i guess i didnt cut all the way down. and so now i have an infected ingrown toenail! ugh! and its at the bottom left corner!where i cant reach it
Damn, I had this done and din't watch them. Now that I know what they did I'm glad I did not watch. However if somone does have an ingrown nail do youself a big favor and get this done. The only part that hurts are the damn shots but they can apply some liquid if you request it to numb the toe before the shots. Your toe will feel sooooo much better after this minor surgery.
PsnlDShMuk: Does it now? I've never tried using that; I might give it a go when I can find a moment. Thankfully, I'm not having trouble walking at the moment although I fear I will pretty soon.
Only problem is, I think it'd be too late for my case now...unless I can cut the blood supply to the extra fold of skin off by successfully tying a piece of sewing thread around it.
I've had this done on both sides of both of my big toes. It's ingrown on the left side of the left big toe again. It hurts a lot and it's infected. My mom's gonig to schedule another appointment and they may just remove the nails...
In the video, the surgery is EXACTLY like you saw and how she discribed it. The only pain is the numb shots and it's WAY less painful than having a toenail ingrown.(Especially an infected one, Ouch!)
im 12 yrs old and im not sure if i have it or not. whenever i sorta push agianst the edges of my "thumb toes" i feel a little bit of pain. do i have it?? someone please reply!
Yeah you do. It's usually most painful when pressing at the top of the toe because the toenail will grow inward deeper. (its deeper down the base of the nail then most people think.)
is it true that if you dont get anything done you toe will have to be amputated i think i have one and i dont wanna have this done im a chicken I HATE NEEDLES im only 13 i dont wanna die :P

dont get this done on NHS because it takes them 6 weeks to pull their finger out and then they dont do the other side when they could easily do

they tried both of these on my and either worked. If i soak my nail in Listerine every night it hurt it goes away.

I have had this for quite a while now
