  • So you're a bitch that likes bananas?

That's good, BECAUSE YOU ABOUT TO GO BANANAS

    ON THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAA

    BEEEEEYEEEETCH

  • Curious as to where you found information listing lyrics by Lorraine Milne? The following link shows original sheet music and I don't see her name listed here.

  • I need to start collecting songs like this for my 1930s radios to play!

  • man how many songs are there about bannanas hmmm all i want is a damn banana and all these songs not helping... gd songs tho lol

  • thats why cod went endangered

  • omgggg i love this song! when i was younger it was on some tape that we always played in our car, and i lived in europe! i ALWAYS sing this song to people when they eat bananas and no one knows what song this is!

  • great tune love it (:

  • I have a '70s LP of Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians that has this song, which as I recall was recorded in the late '20s. it too incorporates various funny voices, like this version, and in both cases there are some slightly risque references that sort of compare bananas to...well...

  • i like the part that begins at 1:33, someone has the complete dialogue? I can not follow it complete :(

  • J'aime beaucoup .

    Merci!

  • I cannot orgasm unless this song is playing.

  • Imagine hearing this in Rapture.

  • Say, not that I was around back in the 30's and 40's but I thought this was actually composed by Spike Jones and the City slickers not the Hoosiers?

  • wonerful to play on the ukulele, and such a novelty for people when you play it to them. not to hard either.

  • The forerunner of "Peel Me A Nanna"?? Good one. Thanks for sharing, Max.

  • My grampa used to sing this song all the time

  • Trippy...

  • Even cosmic...in a "Mellow Yellow" kinda way... ;)

  • I too like bananas. Perhaps it is because they lack bones?

  • ;)

Can't argue with your logic, brother... ;)

    -RR

  • @RReady555 But do bones have bananas?

  • This is the version by George Elrick, with Henry Halls BBC Dance Orchestra, dir. Bert Read, 1936. It would be interesting to hear old 'Breezy' singing it....

  • Indeed, you're correct sir! I got a "blind" MP3 recording of this number and misguessed its origins...we'll just ignore the misinformation and enjoy the song (and lyrics). ;)

    Best,

    -RR

  • Hot dog! My father would sing this song, I suppose to shorten a long drive for a little squirmer (me.)

  • Your dad & grandad had a pretty impressive combined repertoire, brother--glad you enjoyed it!

    ;)
